FROM THE EDITOR Dear Friends, Lately, each week seems to be bookended by signs of hope and despair. The crowdfunding phenomenon has lots of potential and shows a wonderful side of humanity - Imagine being able to invest in solar or small wind in your community and get an income stream from it? Also exciting is the idea of a pan-European Super Grid, connecting renewable energy across the continent - geothermal from Iceland, wind and wave energy from Northern Europe, and solar from the south and northern Africa. Yes, there's also despair, as it becomes ever-clearer how much resistance there is to transitioning to a low carbon economy.
