SDG Global Group and SIA Africa Partner Up
For Bringing Funding to Africa

New York –

SDG Global Group (SDG) and Sustainable Alliances and Initiatives for Africa (SIA-Africa) are pleased to announce a strategic collaboration for driving investment into sustainable projects in Africa.

The initial focus of the collaboration is on the agriculture, fintech, digital finance and related sectors. These are key areas where investment, technology and expertise are required for promoting sustainable economic growth and development and where international businesses and investors can add value and participate in the continuing rapid growth.

SDG and SIA-Africa are developing a digital platform to serve investors, businesses, entrepreneurs and specific communities in Africa. The platform will provide data on projects, markets, businesses, and other information to enhance the understanding of the rising opportunities in Africa, and bridge the gap between businesses and investors from around the world and their counterparts in Africa.

Simon Littlewood, CEO of SDG, said: “There is increasing interest in investing in and conducting business in Africa, and from Africa businesses in finding international partners and markets. Currently there is a lack of trusted information, which is hampering business and investment. Our collaboration aims to address that gap.”

Nene Kodjoe, Founding Chair and CEO of SIA-Africa, said: “Sustainable impact investments in Africa is very key to our mandate. We are delighted to partner with SDG Global, their vision and reach is to be commended and we look forward to a successful campaign.”

About SIA-Africa: sia-africa.org
SIA-Africa’s mission is to support initiatives that impact education, health, city planning, trade and economic investments, by matching resources with needs and opportunities. Their goal is to facilitate the delivery of direct impact investments and encourage the youth of Africa to embrace ethical governance, entrepreneurship, science, ICT, technology, engineering and electrical connectivity.

It facilitates action by helping partners connect, collaborate, and invest resources in the communities. We ensure that the projects we support can sustain themselves financially and environmentally. SIA-Africa Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on developing sustainable global alliances to transform education, healthcare, technology, economy and policy across Africa.

About SDG Global – www.sdgglobalgroup.com
SDG is an investment, consulting and advisory group that focuses on investing in and building scalable business in the sustainability sector. The SDG management team has been operating in the sustainability sector and Emerging Markets since the 1980’s. The team has a track record in direct investment, fund management, advisory and capital markets globally, across a wide range of industry sectors. Supporting those doing Good by helping others live peacefully with our focus on Children. Integral to the broadcast is that it includes over 60 messages of organizations/ celebrities (Go to: www.peacedayparty.org to see list) that help create a peaceful world and share how they do it. THIS IS THE HEART OF THE SHOW, educating children to help reduce: violence, bullying, sex trafficking, homelessness, poor self- esteem, hunger, bad nutrition…

Right now 10/2/15 please donate to our Kickstarter Campaign which ends on October 6, 2015, https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/31744597/support-producing-3-peace-day-events-in-nyc or go directly to our website www.peacedayparty.org to make a pledge.

We were blessed with many messages, including Pope Francis, Borough Presidents Gale Brewer of Manhattan and Eric Adams of Brooklyn. Along with Oprah, Dr Oz, Urban Zen, Sarabeth’s and many more peacekeepers.

Good News Corporation, is a non-profit, est. 2002, created www.peacedayparty.org and has been involved with strengthening the message to Achieve World Peace since our inception, especially for children.
Cleopatra’s Needle in New York City is one of three similarly named Egyptian obelisks. It was erected in Central Park, west of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan, on January 22, 1881.[1] It was secured in May 1877 by judge Elbert E. Farman, the United States Consul General at Cairo, as a gift from the Khedive for the United States remaining a friendly neutral as the European powers – France and Britain – maneuvered to secure political control of the Egyptian government.

Made of red granite, the obelisk stands about 21 meters (69 ft) high, weighs about 200 tons,[2] and is inscribed with Egyptian hieroglyphs. It was originally erected in the Egyptian city of Heliopolis on the orders of Thutmose III, in 1475 BC.[2] The granite was brought from the quarries of Aswan near the first cataract of the Nile. The inscriptions were added about 200 years later by Ramesses II to commemorate his military victories. The obelisks were moved to Alexandria and set up in the Caesareum – a temple built by Cleopatra in honor of Mark Antony or Julius Caesar – by the Romans in 12 BCE, during the reign of Augustus, but were toppled sometime later. This had the fortuitous effect of burying their faces and so preserving most of the hieroglyphs from the effects of weathering

Friends, NOTE: OUR TV STUDIO WAS IN DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN FOR OVER 10 YEARS AND WE FOLLOWED WHAT WAS HAPPENING THERE… ESPECIALLY SINCE I LOVE BROOKLYN FOR MY WHOLE LIFE… PAUL

With New York City moving toward Phase 2 of reopening, we will continue to keep you up to date with our emails on Thursdays as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to greatly impact our communities.

Please remember that a face mask must be worn when in public if social distancing is not possible. If you do not have access to a mask, watch and share our video on how to make one yourself.

As tomorrow is Friday, June 19th — “Juneteenth” — below are activities that not only encourage the celebration, exploration, and beauty of Black culture in Brooklyn, but continues the discussions on freedom, justice, and equality.

I ask that you be safe, be united, be peaceful, and continue to protect yourself from COVID-19 in all your activities.

ON SAFARI IN TANZANIA, EAST AFRICA by Terri Hirsch

Arriving in the Kilimanjaro International Airport late evening we were met by our safari driver-guide outside the arrival lounge and transferred to our accommodations at the beautiful Kibo Pace Hoel in Arusha Tanzania. Our package featured Arusha Lake Manyara, Serengeti National Park, Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arusha is the gateway to some of Tanzania’s most famous attractions: Mt. Kilimanjaro the National Parks and Lodges for Game Drives. Arusha is also known for the precious stone Tanzanite, produced in Arusha and exported worldwide.

After a great breakfast at 6:00 am, our group set out on our first safari to discover East Africa’s legendary wildlife. Our small group was outfitted in a six-seat safari vehicle with pop-up roof allowing for excellent viewing and photography. Our tour leader would rotate each day between our small group of two safari vehicles and tell us fascinating stories of the wildlife. Our sharp-eyed naturalist guides offered insights about the ecosystem
while spotting huge herds of elephants, wildebeest, zebras, towering giraffes and antelope. These huge herds gather to stay in Tarangire National Park until the onset of the rains whey they migrate to good grazing areas.

We departed after breakfast the following day and began the two-hour drive to Lake Manyara National Park, nestled on the basin of the Great Rift Valley. This small National Park has seven distinct habitats which are home to quite a few wildlife. Here we viewed small baboons black-faced monkeys, blue monkeys, impalas, giraffes, buffalo, elephants, waterbuck, bushbuck, zebras and wildebeest- all gathered in groups. Today’s highlight was a large hippo pool with hundreds of hippos. We were allowed to get out of our vehicle to take close-up photographs of these hippos. In the distance were thousands of flamingos on Lake Manyara.

On Tanzania safaris you are not allowed to get out of the safari trucks – this was the one exception. After a late picnic lunch of chicken legs, a small sandwich, water, juice and cake we continued our safari before proceeding to our lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight. Karatu is one of the seven districts in the Arusha region of Tanzania. The sounds of a bush baby, known as a “Galagos” could be heard during the night.

The following day was a rare opportunity to take a village walk to the Tloma Village-Gibbs Farm to experience different activities of the local Iraqw Tribe. The tour included visiting a school, the Makonde Tribe carving center, the village church with traditional singing and dancing, and an outdoor local coffee grinding station. After returning to the lodge for lunch and a short nap, we continued touring the farmers market before our return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Today was the start of two days in the Serengeti National Park’s great migration. At 6:30 am, we proceeded to the Serengeti National Park entrance gate for a two-and half hour drive. Once inside the park we stopped for a picnic lunch where numerous birds could be seen. We were looking forward to enjoying our afternoon game drive en route to Central Serengeti. The annual wildebeest migration through the Serengeti is the largest mass movement of land mammals in the planet. Towering above is Mt. Kilimanjaro, the world’s largest mountain. The Serengeti ecosystem protects the most varied collection of terrestrial (animal) wildlife on earth and is one of the last migratory systems still intact. Not only did we see the wildebeest migration, we encountered baby lions being fed by their mothers, elephants taking baths, zebras, elands, giraffes, waterbucks, families with baby baboons, a tiger and a leopard sleeping in a tree. This was one of the most amazing wildlife spectacles to see.

The last morning our safari departed at 6:39 am with a packed lunch for a four-hour drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Center. Ngorongoro is technically a caldera, which is an extinct volcano and the largest intact and unbroken caldera in the world. The crater is a microcosm of African scenery with abundant wildlife of more than 20,000 larger animals. Over the years the floor of the crater has become mostly grassland with a lake whose size changes, depending on the rains. We descended 2,000 feet to the base of the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On the lake were colourful flamingos and a variety of other birds – ostriches, cranes and storks. Glimpses of elephant, buffalo, cheetah, hyena, warthog and many antelopes were grazing on this land, Mid-afternoon, we slowly began the climb out of the Crater as we headed for a hot lunch at a lodge overlooking the Crater. After lunch, a two-hour drive took us to our lodge for an overnight and a late dinner. Our wildlife viewing was fascinating and the experience unbeatable on this game drive in the Ngororngoto Crater.
After breakfast, we were driven back to Arusha for last minute shopping at the Cultural Heritage Center. We proceeded to the Kibo Palace Hotel for lunch and a day room to freshen up. In the evening we were transferred to the Kilimanjaro International Airport for our flight back home.

Partnership will provide direct relief, resources for Black workforce, Black-owned businesses

New York, NY (November 12, 2020)—The New York Urban League (NYUL) and DoorDash today announced a partnership to provide direct relief to Black-owned businesses and restaurants through NYUL’s COVID-19 African American Family Relief Fund, support for NYUL’s workforce development programming and expanded access to low-barrier-to-entry earning opportunities like earning on the DoorDash platform through Dashing, and expanding support for Black-owned businesses. The partnership will build on NYUL’s 100-year history of civil rights work.

With an array of synergies between the organizations, NYUL & DoorDash are partnering on several engagement opportunities including three key initiatives:

Direct relief in the age of COVID: DoorDash will contribute to NYUL’s COVID-19 Family Fund to support black owned business, restaurants, and NYUL programming.

Workforce Development: DoorDash will partner with the New York Urban League to promote and support NYUL’s existing workforce development programming, counseling and referrals to help un- and underemployed individuals become job ready and take advantage of meaningful employment opportunities, as well as raising awareness among NYUL members of low-barrier-to-entry earning opportunities like Dashing through member education.

Expanding support for Black-owned businesses: NYUL will work with DoorDash to expand DoorDash’s Black-owned business program to NYUL members. In addition, DoorDash will work with NYUL to identify opportunities for DoorDash to support NYUL’s programming through providing gift cards or discounts for DoorDash orders. This will enable the NYUL to access free or discounted meals for Urban League events and programs.

Arva Rice, President and CEO of the New York Urban League said, “We are immensely grateful to DoorDash for their generous grant and partnership which will allow us to continue our work, ever more crucial during pandemic, which is disproportionately affecting the African American community.”

“We’re incredibly proud to join the New York Urban League and further our commitment to supporting Black communities and Black-owned businesses,” said David London, Head of U.S. East & Federal Government Relations at DoorDash. “From loan matching and direct financial relief, to elevating Back-owned businesses and entrepreneurs on our platform, to supporting state and local organizations, we remain dedicated to uplifting communities of color and look forward to partnering closely with the New York Urban League on this shared mission.”

Highlighting “Black-owned” businesses on both the DoorDash and Caviar platforms to help customers easily support Black-owned restaurants. A month later, DoorDash saw a 275x increase for these searches over the previous month.

Donating $1 million, with $500,000 going to Black Lives Matter and $500,000 to create a fund to be directed by the Black@DoorDash Employee Resource Group (ERG) towards state and local organizations.

Establishing a Dashers of Color Council to advise the company on issues facing Black Dashers, including safety and access.
