The 50 & Fabulous Benefit Gala was held on October 18, 2010 at the Pierre Hotel in New York City.

As Amy Niemann,Vice President and General Manager, Teva Women’s Health, so graciously stated:

The Galabrought together leaders in women’s health, in business and in the arts to salute and honor pioneers, trailblazers and visionaries. These women have pushed boundaries and broken down barriers, and in doing this, they have changed the landscape that we live in today…Tonight,we pay tribute to women who have inspired us over the past 50 years to believe, to believe in empowered (and empowering) women, to believe in the importance of women’s health, and to believe that for as much as has been accomplished in the past 50 years, we have rising stars that will shine a light on the continuing path forward.

Actor and Gala Emcee Cybill Shepherd,honorees Kate White, Editor-in-Chief, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Cecile Richards, (PPFA), Kelli Conlin (NIRH),Profamil Haiti, Jehmu Greene, former head of the Women’s Media Center,and Alexander Sanger, Chair, International Planned Parenthood were some of the attendees. Other event attendees includedThe Daily Show’s Samantha Bee, actress AnnaLynne McCourd from CW’s 90210, Dr. Ruth Westheimer and a musical performance by J Record’s artist and Missy Elliot protege Jazmine Sullivan.

The 50 & Fabulous Benefit Gala culminated ayear long tribute to 50 years of women’s advances since “The Pill” with a star-studded event and celebrated 50 years of women’s advances. There was a special tribute to Gloria Steinem for her lifetime achievement and support of women’s issues.Teva Womens Health and media partner Cosmopolitan celebrated the advances of women over the past 50 yearssince “The Pill,” and to encourage the next generation to continue this incredible progress that women have made.

The program honored the women and men who have made significant contributions toward ensuring that future generations will have access to education and employment opportunities and keep the playing field level through advances in womens health.
