The Bannerman Island Gallery located at 150 Main Street in Beacon, NY is happy to present a Fine Art Holiday Exhibition, opening on Saturday, November 13, 2021. The exhibition will remain on view through Sunday, January 30, 2022. An opening reception for the show will be held on Saturday, November 13th, from 4:00-6:00pm at the gallery.

Paintings, watercolors, prints, photographs, and hanging mixed media works will decorate the walls – while ceramics, sculpture and other artistic gift items will fill out the gallery. Many of the works will be Hudson River Valley themed. Visitors to the gallery can expect to see representational landscapes, florals, interiors and still-life works – as well as other works from the imagination. Functional and whimsical ceramics and other gift items will also be featured.

All works will be for sale and all proceeds from sales will benefit on-going restoration work on historic Bannerman’s Island. Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 noon – 5:00pm and most weekday afternoons and early evenings by chance or appointment by calling 845-416-8342.

Music is in Amanda’s blood. It has been said that she sang even before she could speak. Her voice could sometimes be heard from the rooftops of Newark, NJ where she would dwell for some months of her infancy with her musical mother & her guitar strumming father. From the age of two, the multi-ethnic (African American, Cherokee Indian, Italian, & Egyptian) Amanda Holley practically lived in the orchestra pit while her mother (graduate of Manhattan School of Music) would play some of the greatest musicals and symphonies ever written on her cello, her estranged father Gregory Holley was a songwriter who wrote for Sarah Vaughan.

As a SINGER and songwriter, she has recently collaborated for her project with Dimitri Ehrlich (over 20Xs platinum), GoldenChyl (multiple-Grammy nominee), Shaggy (multi-platinum artist), Andy Marvel (Oscar winner & multi-platinum for Celine Dion, Brian McKnight, etc), Nikki Gregoroff (Lady Gaga, Brittani Spears), Rob Fusari (Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Whitney Houston, etc.), Julien Believe (Shontelle, John Legend), Jeff Franzel (N’Sync, Temptations, Frank Sinatra, Deborah Cox), Dennis Williams (O’Jays, Backstreet Boys), Legz Dymond (MOP & Floetry), Rob Clores (Enrique Inglesias), Will Villalona (Nas), Michael Makowski (Amy Winehouse, Usher, Maxwell, etc.) Jimmy George (Taylor Dayne, Chaka Khan, Smokey Robinson, etc.), Phil Ramone (Billy Joel, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Etta James, Quincey Jones, Frank Sinatra etc.), Joseph Joubert (Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan), and the phenomenally talented singer’s producer Charles Wallert (George Benson, Dionne Warwick, OC Smith, Patti LaBelle, etc). Throughout High School, Amanda appeared in over seven leading and supporting roles in Off B’Way musicals along with an internationally distributed (Blockbuster & Suncoast) drama in which she took the supporting role and before she even graduated, had studied extensively and one on one with Juilliard, Tony, and Emmy award winning singers, teachers, actors, and musicians including Michael Imperioli, Sharon Angela, Nick Sandow, and Vince Curatola at Studio Dante along with Chris Scott, Petronia Paley, Tina Lane, Bob McHugh, LaVerne Reede, and Monica Johnson among many others. She began violin from the age of three and, throughout her teenaged years, played in numerous orchestras and ensembles.

Miss Holley plays the piano & violin (since age 3), has vocally trained various singers for executives of Capitol and Universal records and her student’s roster (50 private students per week) spans from 7 year olds doing B’Way, to choral directors, all the way to multiple Grammy winning artists. Amanda states, “Music is who I am. I never woke up and decided to be a singer I always have been and always will be. I eat, sleep, and BREATHE music. I cannot wait to share my story of tragedy, over-coming, strength, hope, and LOVE with the world through my music!.”.

Amanda Suzanne Brownell

April 29, 1992 – April 16, 2013

At only 16 years old, a junior, in high school, it was on December 11, 2008 when Amanda Suzanne Brownell tried to take her life in a bathroom at Del Mar High School in San Jose, California. This was a result of the bullying, sexual bullying, and cyber bullying she endured through MySpace, Facebook, AIM, and the 3500 text messages she received the month before her suicide attempt. Amanda, suffered severe brain damage, unable to speak or care for herself. Good News will be part of the event on September 19th in San Jose.

After almost 4 and 1/2 years Amanda decided that her job here was done. She was hospitalized with pneumonia and seizures on March 13, 2013, while her parents were in Hawaii on vacation. On March 23, Amanda did not want to be poked and squeezed anymore. She was done and did not want any type of medicine or food. There was a family meeting on March 24 and Amanda’s dad Jim Brownell signed the POST form to not recessitate or intibate. She returned to her LSA – Baywood home (since June 2010) on 3/27/13. Then on April 1, 2013 Amanda spent her last 16 days of life at home with her parents, family, friends and dogs (Jack Skellington Sparrow and Spencer Spot Brownell) .

Amanda’s Mother, Ann Solorio Brownell has shared the pain of Amanda’s story, more than 1,000 times in front of more than 50,000 people, to educate everyone about these serious issues of suicide, bullying, and self-harm while spreading the message of LOVE for all people and all living things.

We are parents, grandparents, caregivers, siblings, friends, teachers, neighbors, social workers, school administrators, and students.

We will hold all 200+ flags of all the countries in the United Nations and holding “Hugg A Planets” (pillows) representing the rest of the world and the animal & plant kingdom. (San Jose, CA – April 29, 2015) Just in time for the start of a new school year, the public is invited to an Anti-Bullying Day of Awareness in honor of a local (Latina) teen, Amanda Suzanne Brownell, left severely disabled after her suicide attempt at Del Mar High School in San Jose (December 11, 2008). But after over 4 + years, has returned to heaven 4/16/13. Her job here was done. All money raised goes to support Amanda Network presentations at local schools.

After almost 4 and 1/2 years Amanda decided that her job here was done. She was hospitalized with pneumonia and seizures on March 13, 2013, while her parents were in Hawaii on vacation. On March 23, Amanda did not want to be poked and squeezed anymore. She was done and did not want any type of medicine or food. There was a family meeting on March 24 and Amanda’s dad Jim Brownell SIGNED the POST form to not recessitate or intibate. She returned to her LSA – Baywood HOME (since June 2010) on 3/27/13. Then on April 1, 2013 Amanda spent her last 16 days of life at home with her parents, family, friends and dogs (Jack Skellington Sparrow and Spencer Spot Brownell) .

Amanda’s Mother, Ann Solorio Brownell has shared the PAIN of Amanda’s story, more than 1,000 times in front of more than 50,000 people, to educate everyone about these serious issues of suicide, bullying, and self-harm while spreading the message of LOVE for all people and all living things.

We are parents, grandparents, caregivers, siblings, friends, teachers, neighbors, social workers, school administrators, and students.

You are invited to stand against ALL forms of bullying by taking this simple pledge, to join as an Amanda Network Member:
