The week of February 20th is nation-wide America Saves Week (www.americasavesweek.org). In its 5th year, this week will feature

initiatives across the country by the more than 1000 partner organizations designed to help Americans save more and promote the

value of automatic savings.

Wed like to invite you and your listeners to hear one the national partners – Eleanor Blayney CFP – the Consumer Advocate for the

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards about this event and ways Americans can save.

Eleanor will be available on Wednesday, February 23 to speak to your listeners about the following topics:
Survey Results on Trends in Americans Spending Habits
On Tuesday, the American Savings Education Council and the Consumer Federation of America will release the findings of their annual

survey on Americans and saving. Topics will include:
What regions are saving more
How prepared are Americans for financial emergencies?
Are people managing their big debts like mortgages
Resources for the Spending-Conscious
CFP.net and AmericaSavesWeek.org offers a variety of ways for the everyday person to learn more about topics like net worth,

retirement and debt management. CFP Board also has a variety of publications and resources that people can access for free.
Savings Fitness: A Guide To Your Financial Future (attached) was a joint project of the CFP Board and the U.S. Department of

Labor that outlines a step-by-step process to improving your savings plan.
Easy Ways to Save as Part of a Financial Plan
Clip coupons and price shop. Using mobile apps like CouponSherpa or CompareMe can save help you easily save when you shop.
Get back to an allowance. Start paying for things with cash can make you more conscious of your spending and help you set and

keep your limits.
Make saving automatic. Most banks will set up regular, automatic deposits from your checking to savings account each month, and

many employers offer 401(k) plans that will automatically deduct from your paycheck use them!
