Join Team Kidney and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates to celebrate the 15th Annual UAE Healthy Kidney 10K in Central Park on April 28th. The UAE Healthy Kidney 10K benefits the National Kidney Foundation in honor of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first president and the founder of the United Arab Emirates. Members of Team Kidney receive benefits including a team shirt, a personal fundraising web site and e-newsletters with fundraising and training tips, important race information, and inspiration.

Presenting movies from around the world, our screenings include special guest speakers, filmmakers, actors, and other interactive opportunities to further engage with the themes in our award-winning films. OTHER ISRAEL FILM FESTIVAL: NOVEMBER 2-9

The Other Israel Film Festival uses film to foster social awareness and cultural understanding. The Festival presents dramatic and documentary films, as well as engaging panels about history, culture, and identity on the topic of minority populations in Israel with a focus on Arab citizens. Join us for a week-long festival of award-winning international films as well as engaging conversations on hot topics that illuminate the diversity of Israeli society. Participate in panel discussions with filmmakers and other special guests, gala events, and more.

Dr. Bessma Momani is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Waterloo and the Balsillie School of International Affairs. She is also a Senior Fellow at the Centre for International Governance and Innovation (CIGI). Dr. Momani was formerly a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. and a visiting scholar at Georgetown University’s Mortara Center. She is a 2015 Fellow of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation and a Fulbright Scholar.

She has authored and co-edited over eight books and over 65 scholarly, peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters that have examined the IMF, the World Bank, petrodollars, the Middle East, and Arab youth. Dr. Momani has received numerous Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council awards and prizes for her research on global economic governance and political economy of the Middle East. Her most recent book, Arab Dawn, was published by the University of Toronto Press and has received wide praise for its innovative look at the Middle East and its economic potential.

Dr. Momani has been a public commentator and analyst on the Global Economy, Middle East and the Arab Spring. She is a regular contributor to CBC radio and is a Middle East analyst on CTV News, CBC’s The National, Al-Jazeera English, Bloomberg TV, Business News Network (BNN) and TVOs the Agenda. Dr. Momani is a regular contributor to national and international media on the Arab Spring and on global economic governance issues. She has written for the New York Times, The Economist, The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, The Ottawa Citizen, and many other reputable international newspapers. She sits on the boards of the Canadian Arab Business Council, The Canadian Arab Institute and the Centre for Security Governance.
