While the NFL is Focused on Football in Atlanta, Feminists Like Designer Rebecca Minkoff will be Discussing Empowering Women Business Owners

Festivities surrounding the Super Bowl will focus the nation’s attention on Atlanta next week, but another event in the ATL that will get plenty interest is the She’s Next Empowered by Visa Initiative to help women entrepreneurs. The NFL’s has made a concerted effort to encourage female fans and improve the league’s image in recent years. That’s why the new SHE’S NEXT, Empowered by Visa is announcing a new global initiative in Atlanta to help women entrepreneurs. It’s hoped that having this important event in Atlanta it will draw more attention to challenges facing women entrepreneurs.

Even with this success, a new survey by Visa shows nearly three-quarters of women (73%) report it was difficult to obtain the funding they needed to start their own business. In fact, six in ten (61%) self-fund their business. That’s why the new SHE’S NEXT, Empowered by Visa program is announcing a new global initiative to help women entrepreneurs. Nationally Recognized Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Authority Dr. Russell Barkley Embarks on National Speaking Tour to Discuss the Potentially Serious Consequences of Adult ADHD. ADHD affects 8.1 percent of adults, or approximately 9.2 million adults across the U.S. based on a retrospective study of adults aged 18-44, projected to the full U.S. adult population. To help bring awareness to the public about this disorder, Dr. Barkley is on a national speaking tour to inform the public about the symptoms of ADHD and the potentially serious consequences they may have on the life of an adult living with ADHD.

Ģ Forty-seven percent more likely to have trouble saving money to pay bills.
Ģ Two times more likely to rarely or never use birth control, and four times more likely to have contracted a sexually transmitted disease.
Ģ Two times more likely to have been arrested. Dr. Barkley will discuss information that he published in a new book, ADHD in Adults: What the Science Says. Specifically, the book discusses how ADHD in adults may be an impairing disorder across multiple areas of life.

Barkley is a clinical scientist, educator and practitioner who has authored, co-authored, or co-edited 20 books and clinical manuals and published more than 200 scientific articles related to the treatment of ADHD and related disorders. He has also received numerous awards over his career for his work in ADHD and the field of psychology. He worked in the Child Neurology Division at Milwaukee Children’s Hospital and founded the Neuropsychology Service at Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Barkley also served as the Director of Psychology and as a Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
