Lorenzo Borghese (Italian : Don Lorenzo dei Principi Borghese; born June 9, 1972) is an Italian-American businessman, television personality, and member of the Borghese family. Besides being a cosmetics entrepreneur and animal advocate, Borghese was a bachelor on the ninth season of ABC’s The Bachelor.

He is the son of Prince Francesco Marco Luigi Costanzo Borghese (born 1938) and his American wife, Amanda Leigh, stepdaughter of Douglas Leigh. [1] Borghese’s paternal grandmother was Princess Marcella Borghese, who founded the Borghese cosmetics line in 1958. [2]

Early life and education

Borghese was born on June 9, 1972, in Milan, Italy. Borghese’s parents, Francesco and Amanda Borghese, have lived in Short Hills, New Jersey since 1979. [3] He holds dual U.S./Italian citizenship. Raised in Short Hills, he attended elementary school there. [3] He then graduated from Pomfret School in Pomfret, Connecticut, in 1991. [4] In 1995, he graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, where he was initiated into the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. [5]

He earned an MBA degree from the Fordham Graduate School of Business in 2001. [6]

Business and philanthropy
Borghese resides in New York City. He initiated the Royal Treatment line of products, [7] a bath, body and skin care line for pets, using organic ingredients and fragrance oils from Italy, which can be found in hundreds of stores nationwide and on the television station HSN. He is a managing partner in LB2, LLC, a private-label Italian cosmetics company that sells numerous brands to major department stores and direct retail outlets. [8]

Lorenzo founded a non-profit organization Animal Aid USA with the primary cause of saving and helping abandoned animals. He also serves as a board member of Canine Wounded Heroes as well as the Multimedia Exposure Inc.’s executive vice president.

Reality television and author

In the fall of 2006, Borghese starred in the ninth season of ABC’s popular reality show The Bachelor . [9]

In the summer of 2009, Borghese announced he would be searching for his “princess” on a web reality show titled America’s Next Princess. The show was to coincide with the launch of Royal Pet Club, [10] an online shopping destination for his Royal Treatment pet products. [11] However, when the show debuted online on August 17, 2009, the series was actually revealed to be a spoof of celebrities and reality TV shows. [12]

In August/September 2012, he appeared on the 10th season of Celebrity Big Brother UK and was evicted from the house on Day 22, ultimately finishing in 8th place. [13]In 2011

Susan Beer: Now and Then!

The passing of one’s spouse is much more than his death and your loss. It’s about you, your acceptance of what was, your adaption to what is, and your re-invention. You have no other choice.

Thus, I begin the photo exhibit with a photo of Andrew and me at a black tie event. This type of event was part of what was. . .as was the dancing that we both loved.

The next step in my journey was MOVE ON WITHOUT ME, the book I wrote upon his passing. Mad as hell at him for passing, mad at the doctor who made the error that resulted in his death – from this to realization of how blessed I had been. . . and memories, which sustain and enhance. My philosophy was get up, get dressed, get out. In other words, live your life as it is now. You can’t go back, only forward. You have only one choice. Woe is me – no – it’s a waste of time and holds you back. Recognizing what was, taking the good with you and transforming the negative to learning experiences. . . as I said in my book, “if I can do it, you can, too.” Move on. . .

Moving on for me meant starting a new business, making friends in the town where Andrew and I had just moved prior to his passing, creating a new life, and accepting that this was a new Susan…

With enhancement from the past. You see me with Monty and his girlfriend at a friend’s Adirondack camp. You, also, see me in Bill Cunningham’s photo going through the International Debutante Ball’s receiving line – I was and am the Co-Chair. Some friendships and linkages have continued. Others have not. It just is. Women fear for their husbands – thank you, no, if the man is married. I am NOT interested! – and fear widowhood, which you now personify.

Overall. . . it’s starting anew with enhancement from what was, as well as education. You learn from your mistakes. Been there and done that. . . and not again!.

My connection with the turtle continues. The turtle represents slow and steady progress, moving forward. It has accompanied me on my journey since I was 4 years old. Like me as a child, my husband had 100s of box turtles and only 1 snapping turtle. After our marriage, we started individually and together to collect decorative turtle items from around the world. I always wear a significant turtle pin. It’s my insignia.

And, now, Turtles & Ravens LLC is the name of the company I established in 2010 to market the art of my business partner, Henry Bismuth. His totem is the raven. I never would have thought even 5 years ago that this would be my next evolution. I took 1 art course in college. My forte was science and business.

You see the photo of Henry and me at Visions West Gallery in Bozeman, MT at the opening of his show there this past June. There is, also, a photo of me with the gallery owner accompanied by she and her husband’s dog. In both photos, the painting adjacent and behind is one of Henry’s.

You, also, see a photo of me on the staircase of my home in Bedford accompanied by Monty. The paintings are Henry’s. The shalwaz kameez I am wearing is a gift from my godchildren’s Mother when she was visiting this July. We still do zikars when she is here. Our friendship and “sisterhood” has never changed.

Is this the end of my story? No! I am writing another book and someday I will meet that special man that I will spend the rest of my life with.

Good News Goes to the Canary Islands

Good News Broadcast was invited to speak and produce a special for The Water Hour series at The Campus of Excellence in The Canary Islands off of Morocco from July 6 to 14th. Campus 07 brought together the leaders of today with the potential leaders of tomorrow, i.e. the brightest of the bright young postgraduate students from the world’s leading universities with leading international exponents in the fields of science, business, politics and culture.
These leaders of today include Nobel laureates; heads of state, business and industry. The topical themes are structured around 4 areas: development and sustainability, education and values, the environment, and innovation and health. Burton Malkiel proposed the Random Walk Theory while a professor at Princeton University. Another prominent theory is called The Efficient Market Theory.
Modern Portfolio Theory intuitively presumes long term progress for diversified portfolios. It should be obvious to researchers that certain types of securities, especially equities and equity equivalents, rise considerably, sometimes more than 100%, even by 5-10-20-fold or more over sufficient time periods. These bias diversified portfolios to rise, since one such incident overcomes several which fade into obscurity or oblivion. The main benefit of Modern Portfolio Theory is diversification to reduce risk. These are not very helpful to investment professionals seeking to outperform standard indexes of securities markets. Investment professionals often suggest that the market price fluctuations resemble ripples, waves and tides, such as in the ocean. This might be considered the Fluid Dynamic Model of the securities markets.
Some investment professionals have succeeded in making profits over a series of transactions and long periods of time. They explain that they employ strategies, or tactics, credos, philosophies or other guides for their decision-making. We use the term strategies to cover all these systematic methods. We, at Starwood, have investigated, studied and/or uncovered over 32 major strategies of investing. These are employed by large numbers of investors. They have an effect on the fluctuations of securities prices in the market place which can be illustrated by charts of series of securities transactions.
In the physical sciences there is a phenomenon noted, particularly in fluid systems, called Brownian Motion. This may be a better term to exemplify the randomness inherent in the sequence of securities prices highlighted by the theoreticians. It connotes the confusion and difficulty of analysing the securities markets to obtain profits. This is another way of explaining what the distinguished Academicians have noted in their terms: The Efficient Market Theory and the Random Walk Theory.
The Efficient Market Theory holds that information which motivates investors to make transactions is so rapidly and widely disseminated that it is difficult for anyone to find opportunities for making money dependably over the long term. The Random Walk Theory provides a somewhat analogous view. It holds that no sequence of fluctuations can be followed as a forecasting method for subsequent price fluctuations. Both of these theories seem to characterize the common conception that the securities markets, particularly the stock market, appear chaotic as a result of unrelated, random transactions.
However, our experience at Starwood suggests otherwise. We discern repetitive patterns, currents, anomalies, sequences of transactions, notable interfaces and clashes of strategic interaction by various groups of investors making investments or trading in the market place. These have been described and documented with probable forecasting inherent in the recognition of distinctive types of patterns or charts. For each of two successive decades we achieved a rate of return of 21% per year, and ranked in the top 2% of investment managers in the universe of the Thomson Financial Perascope.
This led to almost a 50-fold gain for the Starwood Strategic Program over the 20 years. This program served as a guide for the management of substantial accounts for a large number of clients of Starwood Corporation, an investment advisory organisation. We note that physical scientists who have studied evidences of chaos in the universe have observed that internally, to some extent, currents, swirls, spirals, disks, vortexes and other geometric shapes can be recognised. On the periphery or borders of chaotic behaviour, especially where there is an interface or surface area with some other fluid, considerable structure evolves.
In these areas turbulences occur. This manifests as visually observable on charts and mathematically expressible pursuant to or analogous to the laws of fluid dynamics. We, at Starwood, and our clients, have benefited from the following perception. The interaction of transactions by groups of investors who apply various strategies of investing elicits price fluctuations which act akin to fluid dynamics. This may be termed the Fluid Dynamic Model of Transactional Price Fluctuations.
This way of thinking may be more helpful to investment professionals who seek a guide for outperforming the standard indexes of price performance. We have accomplished high comparative performance for a period of twenty years by employing mostly classical strategies of investing. We are now offering advanced strategies of investment management and combinations of classical and advanced strategies. We recognise that certain experts have evidenced very high rates of return, of well over 100% per year.
They employ strategies which harness differentials in prices, hedged pairs of securities or commodities, interest carry, and other methods and procedures for harvesting profits from the turbulent or most rapidly fluctuating types of securities. We intend to invest with, or in accordance with, such experts and assist them to automate and/or improve their methodologies. This Fluid Dynamic Model of the Strategic Interaction of Investors may assist investment professionals to research and apply ways and means of outperforming the standard indexes.
It may possibly allow mathematically inclined investigators to express strategies that can be employed profitably in the securities markets. These may include some of the classical ways which investors have employed to develop fortunes. It may also enable those who seek rapid and outstanding results to refine their methods and procedures in order to include certain advanced ways and means.
