About Tatyana:

Tatyana Mezhentseva is a young Russian singer, who participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2019.

She was born in Moscow in 2009. From the early ages she was engaged in creative work: at the age of four she started to do vocal and compose songs. She is also good at playing the piano.

The singer is sure that for success it is necessary to study a lot and train hard. She has a desire to develop further and to try something new. That is why, at the age of 7 she decided to do aerial gymnastics, which, as Tanya admits, gives her the ability to fly. Today she performs at the creative association of air gymnasts Art Area Project.

CREATIVE WAY AND ACHIEVEMENTS

She studied vocals under Mikhail Grebenshikov’s guidance at the Alla Pugacheva variety workshop. Alla Borisovna noted that Tanya is very beautiful: shining blond curls distinguish her among young artists.

Later she became a student of the Igor Krutoy Academy. She also worked with A-TEENS label.

At the age of eight Tanya made her television debut — together with Dina Garipova (Eurovision Song Contest 2013 finalist, winner of the TV show The Voice on Channel 1 in 2012) — she performed the song Fifth Element on the Christmas Song of the Year (NTV). Since then, she has regularly performed and appeared at prestigious events, such as QUARTIRNIC TEENS, a concert on the occasion of Eurovision, etc. In the summer of 2019, she was nominated for the Fashion People Awards.

JUNIOUR EUROVISON

In 2019, Tatiana had the honor of representing Russia at the international contest Junior Eurovision, which was held in Poland on November 24.

Tatyana met a Tuvan singer Denberel Oorzhak (winner of the contest You are super! on NTV) in Crimea during the contest New Wave for children. The young talents recorded the song Time for us, which was co-authored by Tatiana herself.

The qualifying competition wasn’t easy. The jury consisted of Russian pop stars, producers, former contestants of Junior Eurovision. The result was significantly influenced by the online voting. Tanya and Denberel managed to outrun their competitors and win the right to represent their country in the contest in Poland.

Igor Krutoy admitted, “Tanya and Danberel have a good song, I like it. It has emotions and it is written well to show their vocal skills. Moreover, it is easy to remember”.

Philip Kirkorov wished them luck, “You’re talented and you look great!”

Alexey Golubev, a famous director, producer and video maker, put on a competition number, as well as made a video Time for us.

To take part in one of the most prestigious international competitions is a great success at the beginning of your professional career. Tanya is not upset that she did not manage to win it — she treats the failures quite easily. At the Junior Eurovision Song Contest she gained a lot of experience, which is so necessary for young artist. But Tanya is not going to stop on reached: she continues to develop her talent and brings new ideas to life. She dreams to star in movies, work with Sting, her icon and, of course, take part in Eurovision.

Recently Tanya released a single Molodi, which was not only loved by her audience, but also found support from a new listener. The song is rapidly gaining popularity in social networks and in the media environment.

DORADO SCHMITT and his young son AMATI return to the US to tour with ‘5’ concerts at the San Francisco Jazz Festival, The Kennedy Center, NJPAC James Moody Jazz Festival, and more, winding up at their home BIRDLAND November 17-22. Birdland launched the Festival in 2000 , now in its 16th successful year! The Festival has been produced by Pat Philips & Ettore Stratta.

Over the years, a top Jazz band in the style of Django has evolved onstage at Birdland at the Django Reinhardt NY Festival. It carries on the legacy of legendary gypsy guitarist DJANGO REINHARDT in a contemporary style holding on to the joy, hot sounds, and romance of the music inspired by America’s standard repertoire and great musicians such as Duke Ellington, harking back to the 20’s and 30’s in France bringing “Le Hot Jazz” to today where we call it “Hip Hot Jazz”.
AMATI Schmitt was a young boy, 3 years old at the time Dorado started coming to the Festival, now at 19, he is a seasoned player in his own right. DORADO Schmitt, gypsy guitar star and leader, passed on the tradition of Django’s style, as is done in gypsy life from generation to generation, as his Dad did with him teaching guitar and violin. They come from Forbach, France, a gypsy community near Germany where music and family is the center of life.

Over the years, the Producers Pat Philips and Ettore Stratta brought others to the stage joining the Schmitts such as Ludovic Beier , accordionist and accordina musician, and Pierre Blanchard, violinist…DouDou Cuillerier, rhythm guitarist and mean scat singer….henceforth the evolution of this spectacular band many years in the making along with Xavier Nikq on bass (Brian Torff is bassist in the summer). The band is in demand across the country for major tours 2X a year .

There will be a special piece dedicated to the life and tremendous talent and career of Maestro Ettore Stratta, co-founder of the Festival, partner and beloved husband of Pat Philips (Stratta).

This summer, August 5-10, The Allstars will be headed  by Samson Schmitt, out on his own, a star in his own right .  For years, he grew up on the Birdland stage, playing side by side with his legendary father gypsy king Dorado Schmitt.

Also featured at will be  virtuoso violinist Pierre Blanchard “who captures the true romantic fire of Grappelli” and Ludovic Beier on Accordion and Accordina who “was breathtaking and beautiful”, says Will Friedwald of the Wall Street Journal.  On rhythm guitar this summer is DouDou Cuillerier who also brings the audience to its feet with his scat singing.  Of the Special Guest jazz pianist Peter Beets, Downbeat says “Straight ahead excellence !  Olli Soikkelii is one of the new young guitar greats.  Brian Torff holds it all together on bass.

Each night there is a top US jazz great! Aug. 5:  Joel Frahm, 6 & 7:  Anat Cohen, 8: Jane Monheit, 9: Edmar Castaneda, 10: Chris Washburne.

Dorado Schmitt will be back in November with all ‘3’ sons, Amati, Samson, and Bronson.  Pierre Blanchard and Ludovic Beier return with Francko Mehrstein on Rhythm Guitar and Xavier Nikq on Bass. Guests TBA.

The Festival, started in 2000, finding there was huge interest in Django’s style of HOT JAZZ.  It has gone on to be a highly anticipated event twice a year, now in its 15th year,  accompanied by major tours – see all info below. .  The AllStar bands emerged out of the Festival which is Produced by Pat Philips & Ettore Stratta.

Django’s inspiration was Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington–sheer virtuosity with exuberant showmanship leaving a crowd breathless as it is with The Django Festival AllStars.  Leonardo DiCaprio has become one of their biggest fans as is George Benson, ..every great jazz guitarist was inspired by Django, Keith Richards B.B.King, to name a few.

The Django Festival AllStars carry on the legacy of the brilliant gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt who was part of one of the most famous musical partnerships in European history with virtuoso Jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli, together they formed the Hot Club Quintette of France.

The AllStars, mostly from France,  bring the audience to their feet with lightning-fast guitar fingerwork on standards such as “Minor Swing” and  also put the crowd in a romantic mood with gorgeous melodies, hit songs of the past such as Django’s “Nuages”. The program includes many new original compositions that take the music beyond.

It is with great pleasure that Producers Pat Philips & Ettore Stratta, known for their passion for Brazilian music, bring together for the first time in New York two of Brazil’s most important pop/jazz composers, MARCOS VALLE/pianist-vocalist and ROBERTO MENESCAL-guitarist.  The performance will highlight many of their famous hit songs as well as some gems of JOBIM. They will bring vocalist Patricia Alvi, the great drummer Renato Massa, and Trumpeter Jesse Sadoc, with them from Rio.

Joining them will be two other native Brazilians living in the US, Itaguara Brandao on bass and Jorge Continentino on sax and flute. BossaBrasil is an annual event going into its 8th year.

MARCOS VALLE, major songwriter of Brazilian Popular Music has written over 300 songs recorded by industry luminaries Sarah Vaughan, Chicago, Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, Ramsey Lewis, Dave Brubeck Toots Thielemans, Joe Pass, Bebel Gilberro, Sergio Mendes, Eumir Deodato, João Donato, Jay Z ,Kanye West and the list goes on and on.  Most recently he recorded on Sony with American jazz singer, STACEY KENT, Celebrating 50 Years of ‘The Career of VALLE’ with a world tour as well.  He has received a most prestigious award from BMI for his music, SAMBA DE VERAO.

ROBERTO MENESCAL, Composer of bossa nova classics  VAGAMENTE, RIO, VOCE…is Composer/Producer/guitarist and one of the ‘founding fathers of bossa nova’.  His best-known composition is “O Barquinho” and he is known for his work with Carlos Lyra, Nara Leao, Wanda Sa and many other important artists.  In 2013 he received The LATIN GRAMMY SPECIAL HONOREE AWARD for his great importance and contributions to the great music of Brazil.

Together they will make musical history at the legendary Birdland surrounded by other master musicians.  The combination of  Pop and Bossa Nova with songs by VALLE, MENESCAL and highlighting the great JOBIM as well will bring the best of Brazilian music to the forefront with  Valle on keyboards and vocals joined by singer Patricia Alvi,

ZIEGLER, Composer/Pianist/Arranger who toured with the great Argentinian musician Astor Piazzolla for years, brings his prowess behind the piano and his compositional talent to this most interesting ensemble, a program mix of Piazzolla and Ziegler.

Mr. Ziegler is the greatest living exponent of Nuevo.  Says All About Jazz, Ziegler “brings a sense of passion and surprise to every one of his solos.”  His just released CD with the Metropole Orkest of Amsterdam has been receiving raves from all the critics with Critical Jazz calling it  “an inspiring release proving that the brilliance of New Tango did not die with Astor Piazzolla but instead has been reinvented under the skillful hands of the great Pablo Ziegler.”

The music will swing left and right with Maestro Ziegler’s majestic flair dazzling audiences on piano in the center of it all.  Special arrangements have been written for cello taking the music into a breathtaking arena of ‘Tango Meets Classical” with sensual rhythms and then making a right turn as Stefon Harris takes the stage and improvises upon Ziegler’s charts taking Tango sounds deep into Jazz and all the excitement that brings.
