People repeatedly rank their sight as their most important sense, yet most do little to preserve and protect this valued asset. Even annual eye exams escape the to-do lists of millions of Americans, despite urging from health associations, government agencies and health insurers. In addition, a recent study showed that many contact lens wearers don’t comply with recommended replacement schedules.

With World Sight Day an annual blindness prevention initiative around the corner on October 14, it the ideal time to remind Americans of the value healthy vision brings and how to achieve and maintain it.

Dr. Hankin will share his top five tips for year-round eye health, including important advice for those with vision correction, such as contact lenses, which require special care.

Dr. Bruce Hankin, O.D., F.A.A.O., is an optometrist with experience in research and development, professional services and private practice. He is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association and the American Public Health Association. He also serves as F.D.A. investigator and consultant for several manufacturers of ocular pharmaceuticals, contact lenses and refractive surgical equipment.
