August 14th, 2016
Times Square New York City

OUR MISSION
To create an informed and interactive approach to environmental issues.
· To point up the problems, discuss the solutions, mobilize action and praise the achievements of those who are successfully addressing the issues;
· To promote awareness of urban and global environmental issues, i.e. clean energy and climate change;
· To showcase products, services, technology, programs and research that can make our lives more environmentally friendly;
· To provide environmental groups with space and opportunity to gain members and volunteers, while presenting their message to the general public;
· To provide the public with opportunities to get actively involved by joining and volunteering with environmental groups and learning how to make their voices heard by politicians and the media;
· To have a dynamic event with multiple environmental education opportunities and practical solutions, especially for our children, who are the gatekeepers of the future.
· To integrate environmentally safe choices for effective use within a day-to-day lifestyle.
HISTORY
Launched as an environmental event where people could obtain information, get involved, find products, learn about services and be informed and entertained by people who care about the environment. ECOFEST started as a visionary educational program to make this a better world. Twenty two years later it is still going strong, supporting environmental causes and issues. ECOFEST is a cultural and educational environmental festival, free to the public, that is organized and produced by the West Side Cultural Center in New York. In its twenty two year track record, ECOFEST has developed an unequaled base of public and private sector support and is a mainstay on the New York City calendar of events. It has brought thousands of people to the Riverside Park, Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center Plaza, Central Park, Battery Park City the USS Intrepid and now for the 4th year at Times Square, cornerstone of the world.. ECOFEST and its participants benefit from publicity, promotions and extensive advertising, and has always been generously covered and supported by local, regional and national media of all formats since it began.
THE EVENT
A major focus of ECOFEST is conservation of our natural resources and innovative alternative-energy technologies. The SEOTO (Sources of Energy Other Than Oil) Alternative Fuels Display which demonstrates a wide variety of alternative-energy vehicles – ranging from prototypes of solar cars to electric, natural-gas, hybrid, fuel cell and ethanol vehicles already in use by private businesses and many New York City and New York State Agencies. The vehicles stay on display with exciting demonstrations and activities scheduled throughout the day. In addition to the SEOTO Alternative Energy Display, ECOFEST’s regular features include the ECO-FASHION SHOW on the World Solar Stage presenting collections made of 100% organic and recycled material and exhibits focusing in eco products and services, handicrafts, agencies and healthy food. Many children’s eco-activities, health and fitness and NYCACC pet adoptions throughout the day.
ART COMPETITION AND EXHIBIT (in association with UFT/NYCATA)

ECOFEST starts in the beginning of the year with the successful citywide Environmental Arts Program that provides the artwork that is the cover of the program and centerpiece of the annual official ECOFEST poster. The competition is open to all NYC Public Schools and the selection of the winning artwork is made by prestigious artists such as LeRoy Neiman and Peter Max. All honorable mentions and finalists’ artwork is displayed for 3 weeks in a public space in New York. In the past years the exhibit was hosted by the Time Warner Building, the Bloomingdale Library, the Park Central Hotel and most recently the stunning Landmarked Building of the Apple Bank for Savings at West 73rd Street.and Broadway. Since 2011, Peter Max has been the judge with performers and elected officials at the opening.

Reveals Dozens of New Do-It-Yourself Products
DIY Expansion Includes New Cobranded Products with Maker Media
FORT WORTH, Texas, May 16, 2013 — Just in time for Maker Faire Bay Area, RadioShack announced a major partnership expansion with Maker Media, the creators of MAKE Magazine, Makezine.com, and Maker Faire, to better serve the DIY community. Maker Media and RadioShack will be teaming up to collaborate on an expansive DIY product lineup, exclusively carried at RadioShack and Maker Shed, including kits, robotics and tools.
“DIY is part of RadioShack’s DNA,” said Dawn Callahan, vice president of merchandising, responsible for the DIY product category at RadioShack. “We’re grateful to be part of a wonderfully loyal community of makers, and we listened when they told us how we can help bring their ideas to life. We’re excited to deliver on that feedback with an expanded assortment, including cobranded products with the smart folks at Maker Media, as well as other products on makers’ wish lists.”
“Adding to the popular Make line of kits, like ‘Getting Started with Arduino’ the new cobranded product lineup from Maker Media and RadioShack combine Maker Media’s strength in cultivating and growing the maker movement with RadioShack’s strong retail footprint and DIY heritage,” said Dale Dougherty, founder and CEO of Maker Media. “Our new cobranded products are designed to give makers a path to making while they continue to develop their skills and push the limits of their creativity.”
The new cobranded product lineup will be available in-store and online exclusively at RadioShack later this year. In addition, MAKE Magazine will join the MAKE book lineup and will be available in stores this fall. RadioShack has an exciting lineup of additional DIY products that are available now, and with more to come throughout the summer and fall.
Discovering RadioShack’s DIY Resources
RadioShack regularly surveys DIY customers to refine its product offering. As a result, the company added Arduino microcontrollers as well as hundreds of new parts and tools to its stores and website in 2012. Similarly, the newly announced products deliver on things makers told the company they desired most from their neighborhood DIY resource, including RadioShack-branded:
• ColdHeat Soldering Tool, available now
• Expanded assortment of Light-Emitting Diodes (LED’s), available now
• New collection of Youth Hobby Kits focused on building your own RC and robotics, available now
• Electroluminescent (EL) Wire, Tape and Flex Strip LED’s, available in the summer
• U Mold moldable plastic, available in August in two sizes
• New line of Mini PC Microcontrollers that have video and Wi-Fi capabilities, available in the summer
In addition, RadioShack will be re-launching XMODS, which are DIY remote control car or truck kits that customers can build, tune, and race, which will be available this fall.
For more about RadioShack’s DIY products and to find projects, visit RadioShackDIY.com and makezine.com/weekend projects. Be sure to also check out the company’s YouTube channel to find related videos, including the “DIY Update” and “How to Choose a Soldering Iron.”
Major corporations and banks, such as General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Volvo, Toyota Motors, Lexus, Nissan, Brita, AT&T, IBM, BFI, Tom’s of Maine, Chase, International Paper; utilities and key government agencies, including the New York City Transit/MTA, NYC DOT, NYCDEP, Consolidated Edison, New York Power Authority, and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey provide support for ECOFEST.
