A Gala Event was held at Terrace in the Park, Flushing Meadow Park on November 10, by the 10 Billion Asseted America Hotel Owners Charitable
Association.

The Association has assets of more than 10 billion dollars in assets has expanded its influence by adding real estate, banking and finance, building decorations, catering and other industries to form five major sectors along with the hotel industry. It is building the most influential business platform in New York with complementary industries, mutual assistance for members, building a stronger platform, enhancing the status of members, and increasing the influence of the chamber of commerce. We welcome all successful entrepreneurs with integrity and strength to join the Chamber of Commerce and serve as board members.

The event had a special broadcast for a new TV/Podcast Chinese American Program. Good News Host Reverend Paul Sladkus interviewed many of the attendees and Board Members. Paul was working with Weiwei Gao, who is a leader in the Chinese media with over 300 million followers for Weiwei Talks. Weiwei is loved by many. This prestigious event is Weiwei and Paul’s and Weiwei’s is FIRST Chinese American Broadcast. The Series has been created to share with the world more understanding between China and America. ‘The Man in the Red Bandana’

Please excuse these ramblings of a proud, old father who lost one the
brightest lights in his life. This light was my dear, dear son, Welles
Remy Crowther, who at age 24 was killed when the South Tower of the
World Trade Center collapsed on him and so many other innocent victims
of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Welles was an equities
trader with Sandler-O’Neill and Partners working on the 104th floor of
WTC2. He was also a volunteer firefighter and member of Empire Hook &
Ladder Co. #1 in Upper Nyack, NY. Somehow he made his way to the 78th
floor Sky Lobby after the plane had impacted his building, and there
he found a group of people who were afraid to move. They had huddled
together and were waiting for the rescue workers to get to them. They
felt if they moved around they might fall through a hole in the floor
and be lost as the visibility was almost nil due to the dust and
smoke.. There were many injured people around them, screaming with
pain, unable to extract themselves from under the slabs of marble that
lined the hallways that had them trapped. My son, Welles, wearing a
red bandanna (which he always carried in his back pocket) to protect
himself from the dust and smoke, found them and told them that he knew
where the only open stairway was and if they could walk they should
get up now, help those whom they could, but that there were people
they could not help and that they had to go right away. His words as
quoted to us by some of the individuals who were there and survived
were “follow me, I know the way”. Welles made three trips from the
78th floor down to the 61st floor where the lights were still on and
the air was clearer. He told them to keep going down the stairs, but
he kept going back up to escort more people down. In all we have
confirmed three trips he made between the floors before he went all
the way down to the lobby. He was in the lobby ready to go back up
with a fire lieutenant and two other firefighters with the tools
necessary to lift some of the heavy debris in order to rescue more
victims. But the building did not stand and we lost our beautiful son
who cared more for others than for his own life.

There is so much more I could tell you about him, and you can read
about Welles at CrowtherTrust.org., a website for the Welles Remy
Crowther Charitable Trust, a charity we set up in his memory as a
memorial to a young man who saw his duty and did it. You can also
Google “the man in the red bandanna”.

People tell us that we raised our son too well. I respond that he was
born with the software installed. The good Lord put Welles on this
earth knowing that he would have to call on him. Unfortunately, it was
just 24 years into so promising a life.

But, we started The Welles Remy Crowther Charitable Trust to bring
some good out of a terrible tragedy. Through it we have been able to
work with many other agencies by making grants and gifts to help young
people become exemplary adults, whether for educational, health
related, or recreational needs. Again, I refer you to our website to
find out more about the incredible work we have accomplished. And this
proud, old father thanks you for having read about a true civilian
hero of 9/11/01.  May God bless America.

Campus Coach Lines President and Founder Bert Askwith, Honored by ABA Board of Directors
The American Bus Association Board of Directors honored longtime motorcoach owner/operator and
industry legend Bert Askwith at its spring board meeting May 2 in suburban Washington, D.C. The
presentation was made by ABA Chairman Tom JeBran to salute Askwith for nearly 85 years of
continuous service to the motorcoach industry.

In March, Bert turned 102, celebrating his birthday by going to work in Manhattan where he is President of Campus Coach Lines. Bert founded Campus Coach Lines in 1928 while he was a student at the University of Michigan, taking classmates from Ann Arbor to the east coast at a fraction of the cost of rail travel. The company was so successful that he put himself through college with the money he earned. In 1931, while the Great Depression weakened the economy; Bert moved the business to New York City where it continues operations today, 83 years later.

During his long and distinguished career, Bert has served in a variety of high-profile national and
regional industry leadership positions, including a nearly 20-year tenure on ABA’s Board of Directors.
In 2010 the Board made him an honorary lifetime member. Bert also served as the first Chairman of
the ABA Foundation Board of Governors and continues his service to the ABA Foundation as
Chairman Emeritus. Bert also served for six years as the President of the New York State Bus
Association.

Bert is also known for his generous charitable contributions. Among his favorite charities are the
United Way and his beloved University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

In typical fashion, Bert is always looking ahead, and as he accepted the award, he told his colleagues,
“Thank you for this honor, I am looking forward to working with you for many more years.” ABA Board Chairman Tom JeBran said of his longtime friendship and associate.

Dukakis was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, the daughter of Alexandra (née Christos) and Constantine S. Dukakis. Her parents were Greek immigrants to the United States, her father from Anatolia and her mother from the Peloponnese.[1][2] She has a brother, Apollo, and is a cousin of Michael Dukakis, a former governor of Massachusetts and the Democratic nominee for president in 1988, for whom she was a delegate from New Jersey at the 1988 Democratic National Convention. She is an alumna of Arlington High School in Arlington, Massachusetts, and was educated at Boston University.

Dukakis has been married to actor Louis Zorich since 1962. They have three children.

Dukakis has held a lengthy career in a diverse range of films, including Steel Magnolias, Mr. Holland’s Opus, Jane Austen’s Mafia!, The Thing About My Folks, and Moonstruck, for which she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She also played the role of Anna Madrigal in the Tales of the City television mini-series, which garnered her an Emmy Award nomination, and appeared on Search for Tomorrow as Dr. Barbara Moreno, who romanced Stu Bergman. She appears as Dolly Sinatra (Frank’s mother) in the mini-series of Frank Sinatra’s life (1992). Her Broadway theatre credits include Who’s Who in Hell, Social Security, and the one-woman play Rose. Her theater, film, and television work has also won her an Obie Award, a Drama Desk Award, a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award, and a Golden Globe.

Dukakis won Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Moonstruck and was nominated for the Canadian Academy Award for The Event. She provided the voice of Grandpa’s love interest for The Simpsons episode “The Old Man and the Key”. In 2003, Dukakis published her national bestselling autobiography Ask Me Again Tomorrow: A Life in Progress. Recent films include 3 Needles, The Librarian: Return to King Solomon’s Mines, In the Land of Women, and Away From Her, the 2006 film which cast her alongside Gordon Pinsent as the spouses of two Alzheimers patients.

In 1998, she starred as Charlotte Kiszko in the British TV drama A Life for a Life (ITV), based on the real-life story of Stefan Kiszko, a man wrongfully imprisoned for seventeen years for the murder of a child, Lesley Molseed, after police suppressed evidence of his innocence.

She recently directed the world premiere production of Todd Logan’s Botanic Garden at Victory Gardens Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.[3]

In the 2008 season of Hartford Stage, Dukakis starred in the revival of Tennessee Williams’ The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore, opposite Kevin Anderson.

In 2008, Dukakis also co-adapted and starred in the world-premiere of Another Side of the Island, based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest, at Alpine Theatre Project in Whitefish, Montana.

She starred in and executive-produced the 2009 film Montana Amazon, co-starring Haley Joel Osment.

In 2011, Dukakis guest-starred on Law & Order: SVU. She played the role of Debby Marsh, an attorney.[4]

On May 24, 2013 she was honored with the 2,498th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard, in the category of Live Theater.

Since joining the firm in January 2005, she has completed numerous deals totaling multi-millions of dollars for some of the most recognized names in retail. Her team identifies and secures the best locations for prominent international retailers’ United States operations, and represents some of the country’s top landlords in finding high profile retailers for their properties.

As director of retail operations for the 50 Prudential CRES Commercial Real Estate Service offices located nationwide, Ms. Consolo has completed deals in every key market across the United States. Her understanding of the market and coast-to-coast experience enables her to strategize with retailers all over the country, from unveiling a national expansion to the debut of a flagship store. Ms. Consolo has demonstrated her prowess in completing deals along main streets and in shopping malls, and continues to develop and expand her reach.

Ms. Consolo has an impressive academic background, serving as an instructor at New York University, Wharton Business School, Parsons School of Design, and the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute at Baruch College. She has lectured before numerous prestigious organizations including: The Association of Women on Economic Development, National Association of Business Owners, Women Incorporated, Institute for International Research, American Institute of Architects, Society of Industry Leaders, International Council of Shopping Centers, and the National Association of Business Owners. She has also spoken before the National Association of Appraisers & Planners, The Women’s Economic Roundtable, the New York Association of Realty Managers, The Real Estate Lenders Association, and The Real Estate Academy.

In addition to her academic contributions, Ms. Consolo is often the only broker to be invited to bring her perspective to international forums on real estate. She has been called to speak at the Luxury Institute’s Paris conference, “Conversations with Leaders in Luxury.” She is also a consultant to The Luxury Marketing Council and Luxury Institute.

Ms. Consolo’s portfolio also includes memberships, affiliations, and executive appointments in industry, civic, and philanthropic organizations. She is on the Board of Governors of the Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York, Past President of the Association of Real Estate Women, Director of New York Commercial Real Estate Women, and former board member of the AREW Charitable Fund. Ms. Consolo created the AREW Founder’s Award for outstanding achievement in the real estate industry. She also served as an advisor for The Mayor’s Council on The Aging/Related Issues.

Ms. Consolo’s memberships include the Urban Land Institute, the Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association of New York, Inc., the Real Estate Board of New York, New York Commercial Real Estate Women Network, and several Chambers of Commerce. She is also a member of Fashion Group International, the International Council of Shopping Centers, and National Realty Club. In addition, she participates in the National Retail Federation and the Retail Marketing Society.

Many honors and awards have been bestowed on Ms. Consolo throughout her career. Prudential Douglas Elliman awarded her the Top Retail and Commercial GCI for 2005 and 2006. In 1992, Crain’s New York Business called her a Rising Star and in 1996, one of New York’s 75 Most Influential Women in Business. Three years later, Crain’s named her one of New York’s 100 Most Influential Women in Business, a distinction she earned again in 2007. In 1999, she was Woman of the Year by the Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York, a first-ever for the trade association. In 2000, she received the AREW Founder’s Award, the honor which she originated. Ms. Consolo received another AREW award, that of Outstanding Woman of Achievement, and is a Woman of Valor by the Capuchin Order of St. John the Baptist Friary. The non-profit organization Dress for Success honored Ms. Consolo with a Success at Its Best Award in 2005.

Prior to joining Prudential Douglas Elliman, Ms. Consolo served as Vice Chairman of Garrick-Aug Worldwide, Ltd. for nearly 20 years. She founded the firm’s international division in 1987 and opened the European office, in based in Paris.
