World Peace Earth Day Celebration is the brain child of Event Executive Producer Andrew Kaen. Andrew was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma tumor in 2005. A professional photographer raised in NYC with a passion for spiritual healing, he found solace in spirituality and healing and decided to share that with the world. Andrew says, “I created these event because after my operation that removed the tumor, I knew that the human spirit was more powerful than any hospitals. I wanted to spread the healing energy universally by creating a World Peace Earth Day event.”

In 2007, concerned with the state of the world, Andrew started an annual event for world peace, forming PLANET HEART, a project of We, The World, a non-profit 501c3 organization. It’s mission is to help bring all humans together in harmony on a global scale and to cultivate a world of peace, helping us to realize that WE ARE ALL ONE. EARTH DAY is their main annual event.

THIS YEAR’S EVENTS:

We are doing our event this year on Thursday, April 24, which is actually not considered “Earth Day April 22.” The original Earth Day was actually March 20 in 1970 founded by John McConnell, who also founded Earth Society and April 22 was considered the “Other Earth Day” first tagged as an Environmental Speak-In that Gaylord Nelson organized.

Our theme this year, is to make people aware really, that EVERY DAY IS EARTH DAY. We are planning to have a Call to Action that will establish our event to have quarterly action events throughout the year to bring more awareness to taking care of Mother Earth and all its inhabitants and to keep Planet Heart active with its mission to promote peace, sustainability and oneness.

So where do you plan to be for APRIL 24, 2014? We invite you to come join us for our 8th Anniversary at the SUBUD CHELSEA CENTER in New York as we celebrate our beloved planet Earth for for a very special evening of amazing panel discussions, live performances and ceremony, as well as time for networking and mingling with a high vibrational community of many different people and organizations making a difference in the world. This is also a benefit. Proceeds will go to PLANET HEART, and WE, THE WORLD to help further a peaceful, sustainable world.

The following is an excerpt from Bishop Auxiliary “Grandmother” Lygia Maciel De Castro, a wise woman and native elder whose life bridges the worlds of the four directions. Her message that was published in the April Edition of Inner Realm Magazine, one of our co-sponsors:

For My Dear Brothers and Sisters of Planet Mother EarthMother Earth does not belong to us-we belong to Her. She deserves to be treated with love and respect by all human beings because She takes care of ALL creatures who live outside and inside Her. She provides food and water and so much more for every living creature, including us humans. So, my dear Brothers and Sisters, we really are one community, one people, one heart and one world-and one universe.

Speculation has been made that the destruction of the world is imminent, but this is far from being the truth. It is a message of caution, alerting humanity to be more gentle and kind to one another, more caring of the Earth, and its inhabitants, the wild creatures, and humans. If we do that, and work toward peace within our hearts and minds, sending love throughout the entire universe, we become one with Earth and ourselves. As we follow this marvelous journey, then yes, my dear Brothers and Sisters-we are one.

The next 7 generations of children on this planet will be the new stewards. I invite you to listen carefully to the Elders. If we apply the lessons, we all benefit, and humanity shall be different, and that much better.

Zhang, who teaches at the well-respected Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in China, has transformed traditional lacquer technique into a medium of modern abstract painting.

“To understand Wenzhi Zhang’s pictorial goals, one must see them as emerging from a long Chinese tradition,” said gallery owner Joy Wai. “Traditional Chinese painting has from the beginning depended above all on the expressive quality of line. This has been combined with a deep intuition concerning the dynamic register peculiar to each primary color along with its modulations of shade, tint and tone and may be likened to the sound modulations of a musical instrument or the human voice. Wenzhi Zhang’s work incorporates fully this tradition. But not only does Chinese brushed calligraphy express intelligible, verbal meaning but palpable emotion in the balletic sweep, surge and rhythm of its contours and forms.” Added Cole Harrell, the gallery’s art director, “Her paintings reflect her experiences, where the strokes and the layers voice her honesty, passion, and most importantly, her reverence for this lost art. Her works ‘Sacred Calligraphy Serial’ and ‘Landscapes Serial’ are narratives that leave an indelible mark on contemporary art.”

Wenzhi Zhang was born in Guangzhou, China. She holds a MFA from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Seoul National University of Sciences and Technology in South Korea. Her works are represented in prestigious private and public collections, including private collections of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, the National Art Museum of China, Malaysia National Art Museum, Norway National Museum of Art, Korean Palace Kiln Museum and many other university museums. She has lectured internationally in many universities and has written several textbooks.

August 21, NYC — “Natural Lacquer” paintings by renowned Chinese artist Wenzhi Zhang will be exhibited August 21 – October 4, 2012 at The Joy WaiGallery (122 West 18th St.).
Chinese Lacquer is the processed sap from lacquer trees that has been an integral component of Chinese decorative art from early times.
Zhang, who teaches at the well respected Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in China, has transformed traditional lacquer technique into a medium of modern abstract painting.

Israel Artist Exhibition- Eitan Portnoy (Eitan Amir) has a one man exhibition at The Chelsea Space, 121 West 19th Street, NYC. Eitan set out on a journey whose seeming digressions were always part of his art; his paintings. Eitan Portnoy began by studying Cinema and Theater at Tel Aviv University (1978-79). He then went to NYC where he attended classes in Commercial Art at New York Tec. and Photography and Art at the School of Visual Arts (1981-83). In 1984 he returned to Israel. Since then, he has taken part in various enterprises in the areas of Communications and Public Relations and for a year, in 1986, took intensive courses in Religion and Theology. During all this time he was working on his art, which steadily appeared in exhibitions in various cities – Tel Aviv, London, NYC . His wide interests have included Etching and Lithography, Behavioral Science and the TV medium. At present, however, Eitan states; he is focusing exclusively on his painting and on his family.
