Post Event: Mission accomplished! This past weekend the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences filled children’s wish lists for this Holiday season at this year’s AAHS Toys for Tots annual toy drive at Columbus Park Mulberry & Worth St.

Chinatown. A big crowd gathered to welcome Santa Claus and his helpers for the biggest toy distribution in NYC! Joseph Cinque CEO of the AAHS Headed event along with a special group of people who helped make all the smiles possible, Robin Mui of the Sing Tao Daily Newspaper, Gary Kong of the Global Hero Foundation and Tony Park Owner of Angelina Bakery in NYC handing out delicious yummy treats, in addition to various sponsors, important members of the community, along with the proud USMC, NYPD and FDNY who assisted in spreading happiness and joy for families and children in need. A special thanks to an amazing group of Marines that accompanied Mr. Joseph Cinque at the event, GySgt Roberto Guadarrama, Sgt Alejandro Garcia, Sgt Robert Y Hernandez, LCpl lan C Roberts and Sgt Jason O’Neal, serving our country bravely. New York, NY April 17 – The 34th Annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Festival Press Conference will be held next Tuesday April 23rd 3:30pm at Mika Japanese Cuisine & Bar, 150 Centre St, Chinatown, NYC. Festival details, brief performances, light refreshments will be served.
About -Annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Festival:
Organized by the Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans (CAPA) since 1979, this annual festival is the longest running and largest event celebrating Pan-Asian heritage nationwide. It celebrates not only the value of family, but also the heritage which makes us proud to be Asian American and Pacific Islander.
Celebrating Asian Arts, Cuisine, and Community at the 34th Annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Festival-
May 4, 2013 in Flushing Mall in Flushing, NY, AND
May 18, 2013 in Confucius Plaza and Yung Wing School, NYC.
The festival is free, rain or shine and open to the public thanks to generous contributions from this year’s sponsor: Nielsen. Many Asian community organizations also help make the festival possible. Hours 11am- 6pm.
More than 10,000 visitors are expected for an impressive line-up of performances, fun carnival games for children, workshops for adults, and the “Remembering 1882- Fighting for Civil Rights in the Shadow of the Chinese Exclusion Act” exhibit on May 18 in its only NYC area appearance. Numerous Asian American and Pacific Islander organizations will be present to inform visitors about useful services, volunteer opportunities, and resources to get involved in the community. Attendees can expect a riveting lineup of performances and speakers.
The community festival will be packed with lively entertainment, tasty eats, and valuable resources in celebration of Asian American and Pacific American Heritage Month — and the rich culture, history and accomplishments of Asian American and Pacific Islander

24TH ANNUAL HONG KONG DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL, STEVE BARCLAY

IN NEW YORK- 2014 CHARITY RACE PRESS CONFERENCE/AWARD$ CEREMONY. Good News speaks to Steve Barclay, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York, who share their Good News.

Seventy-Five Hundred dollars will be awarded on behalf of the HKDBF-NY 2014 Charity Boat Race participants to charities of their choice. Over the last twenty three years the HKDBF NY along with its Sponsors and Teams racing for various charities have contributed in excess of $200,000 to local non-profits. The dates for the 25th Anniversary Year 2015 Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York will also be announced.

An annual and much anticipated race occurring during the 2nd day of the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York, (August 10th, 2014) this year’s Charity Boat Race participants included teams from HSBC, DCH, and the Shanghai Commercial Bank with each Company/Team contributing $2,500 to the kitty. The race winner (DCH) designated charity receives half ($3,500) of the funds raised and the remainder ($4,000) is divided equally between the other charities ($2,000 each this year.

Runner Up – $2,000 HSBC Bank USA

The Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York, an annual, multi-cultural celebration and sporting event, is the largest multi-cultural Festival in New York and the biggest Festival of its kind in the U.S. For twenty -three successful years HKDBF-NY has attracted a diverse audience of approximately 60,000+ attendees with 2,500 participants competing from across the U.S. and Canada. Taking place over two days on the site of the 1964 World’s Fair on Meadow Lake in Flushing Meadows, Corona Park, Queens, NY, HKDBF-NY 2015 will feature events for the entire family. An opening day parade on Saturday, August 8th* will be followed by the New York Championship Race. NYC Summer Meals Program

Early on 7/1/08, officials from the city as well as on the federal level met at Pace High school in Chinatown. Their mission: to make the people of New York City aware of the city’s extensive Summer Meals Program. As City Council speaker Christine Quinn said, “People don’t know as much as they should in our five boroughs that we have a very expansive school meals program in the summer. People think school meals stop when the school year stops or when summer school stops- that’s not true”. In an effort to combat the struggle with food prices and the hunger families in need might face, the city kicked off the event and let it be known the city was ready to feed all individuals 18 and under. The program even extends eligibility to individuals simply visiting the city during the summer. There are over 1,200 locations around the city offering delicious and nutritious meals, and citizens are encouraged to dial 311 in order to find a site near them. The event was filled with hopeful words and art festivities. Figures at the event included the aforementioned Christine Quinn, Undersecretary of FNCS Nancy Montanez Johner, Deputy Mayor Dennis Walcott, FM BLS host Bob Lee, former NFL player Amos Zereoue as well as the New Jersey Nets mascot. The publicity for the event was emphasized in the hopes that New Yorkers will become informed and not hesitate to visit the meal sites.
