Manifestation Isn’t Magic: It’s Applied Knowledge

People love to say “knowledge is power.” But that’s only half the truth.

Like many people, my first exposure to manifestation and the Law of Attraction came through The Secret. I watched the DVD countless times. I listened to the CD in my car over and over again.

And still, I was skeptical.

So instead of debating whether it worked, I decided to test it.

I started small. Finding my keys. Having someone invite me to coffee or lunch. Little experiments with no emotional attachment.

And something interesting happened.

When I applied the principles: clarity, expectation, and aligned action, things worked. Not occasionally. Consistently.

That’s when I moved on to bigger experiments.

“What Orly Wants, Orly Gets”

At the office, I started saying a phrase that became legendary, much to my team’s annoyance:

“What Orly wants, Orly gets.”

I explained the Law of Attraction to them and had them finish the sentence whenever I asked for something that felt unrealistic.

To be clear—there was zero enthusiasm. They thought I was crazy.

Then came the real test.

We were hosting a seminar for 260 people in the property management industry. The goal was simple: sell enough sponsorships and exhibitor tables to cover costs and turn a profit.

On a Tuesday afternoon, I asked where we stood.

Less than $3,000.

I told them we needed $10,000 by Friday.

The looks I got said it all. “No way.” “Impossible.” “That’s less than three days.”

My response?

“What Orly wants?”

They replied angrily, “Yeah, yeah… Orly gets.”

Manifestation Requires Action, Not Anxiety

A few days later, I asked for an update. No progress.

The secretary was out sick that day, so I asked a simple question:

“Did anyone get the mail?”

You would’ve thought I asked them to stop working altogether.

So I grabbed the keys and checked the mail myself.

Back in my office, I opened the envelopes one by one.

The third envelope contained a check.

$8,734.

From an unpaid invoice that had been overdue for six months.

I walked out and showed it to the team.

Their reaction?

“How do you do this?” “How does this always work for you?”

The answer was simple, and it had nothing to do with magic.

Students found this textbook useful during interactions with others because of the simplicity of the chapters. The book is also convenient to carry because it’s soft cover.

As the author, I would like to reiterate that my purpose in writing each chapter of this resourceful book is similar to the trunk of a big tree that establishes and prepares students for a solid and stable language foundation in Chinese.
