May Peace Prevail On Earth International & Peace Pals International Proudly Support Peace Got Talent 2026 Living Peace International is once again organizing Peace Got Talent, an artistic event that shows how music and the arts can be powerful ways to spread peace and touch people’s hearts around the world. We are pleased to invite you to participate in Peace Got Talent 2026, which will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026. The event is organized in collaboration with Caritas Lebanon Youth, the youth branch of Caritas Lebanon, and a long-time partner of Living Peace International. Participants may perform a song, instrumental music, slam poetry, or a dance, as long as it is inspired by the theme of peace. Each performance may be up to four minutes long. The event will be broadcast on the Living Peace International YouTube channel and the United World Project YouTube channel. To take part in Peace Got Talent 2026, please submit your performance video in high quality, with good lighting and clear sound. If you record the video using a mobile phone, be sure it is filmed horizontally and kept steady throughout. If possible, we encourage using two cameras—one fixed and one moving—to make the video more engaging and dynamic. Videos may be recorded indoors or outdoors, including in natural settings. You may include images of your country if you wish, but the main performers—whether singing, playing music, performing slam poetry, or dancing—must be clearly visible at all times.   The deadline to submit your video is April 10, 2026. Along with the video, please send the required forms, fully completed and signed by you as the director of the choir, dance group, or music group. These forms are necessary to give permission to publish images of the participants, whether they are minors or adults. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Those living with a mental health condition and taking certain mental health medicines, known as antipsychotics, for a prolonged period of time may develop or already have tardive dyskinesia, or TD, an involuntary movement disorder. The first week of May (1-7) is TD Awareness Week and this year marks the sixth consecutive year the mental health advocacy community and states across the country have recognized the awareness week.

TD is associated with prolonged use of dopamine receptor blocking agents including antipsychotics that are used to treat bipolar disorder, depression, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder.

While 1 in 5 U.S. adults live with a mental illness, TD affects approximately 600,000 people in the U.S. Approximately 70%—or 7 out of 10 people living with TD—have not yet been diagnosed.

Mild, moderate, or severe TD movements can occur in one or more spots in the body. They are often seen in the face, torso, limbs, and fingers or toes. Involuntary movements associated with TD may be rapid and jerky or slow and writhing and present as:
•  lip smacking
•  puckering or pursing
•  tongue darting or protrusion
•  excessive blinking
•  jaw chewing, clenching, or side-to-side movements
•  twisting or dancing fingers and toes

The uncontrollable movements of TD can impact patients physically, socially, and emotionally, including one’s ability to work, drive, button a shirt, or even hold a cup of coffee. People living with TD may also feel judged, ashamed, and misunderstood, and the disorder can exacerbate feelings of vulnerability, embarrassment, and frustration.

It’s important that people taking antipsychotic medication be monitored for drug-induced movement disorders, or DIMDs, such as TD. They should schedule regular, in-person appointments with their doctor for a physical assessment and visual exam.

On Wednesday, April 26th, Dr. Gus Alva, MD, DFAPA. will be available to discuss the physical, emotional, and social impact of TD and mental health issues. He’ll also talk about the signs and symptoms of TD. A patient advocacy representative will join the doctor and provide insight on the importance of raising awareness of TD in support of the mental health community.

The Viennese Opera Ball hosted their Swing Dinner Dance Gala, “The Golden Age” at a private club in Manhattan. Due to the events of the past year, the gala was scaled down from previous years with limited capacity but was a great return of the extravagant affair. The Viennese Opera Ball is a nonprofit association under Section 501(c)(3) and celebrated under the auspices of the US Austrian Chamber of Commerce. The Gala Chair for the evening was philanthropist Jean Shafiroff. Each year, it supports charitable projects that are connected to communities in New York or Vienna. The proceeds of the Swing Dinner Dance benefited the Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research.

The Gala took place with the support of City of Vienna and the Honorary Gala Chair, Governor & Mayor of Vienna The Honorable Michael Ludwig, Consul General of Austria in New York The Honorable Helene Steinhaeusl, and the Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum New York Michael Haider.
