NEW YORK, April 29, 2010Mara Manus, Executive Director of The Film Society of Lincoln Center, announced today a star-studded lineup of presenters confirmed for the 37th Chaplin Award Gala honoring two-time Academy Award winner and renowned actor and producer Michael Douglas and taking place at Alice Tully Hall, Monday, May 24, 2010. This esteemed event will include many of Douglass most celebrated friends and collaborators such as Danny Devito, Erika Christiansen, Milos Forman, Curtis Hanson, Tobey Maguire, Steven Soderbergh, Barbara Walters, as well as Douglass wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and his father, the legendary Kirk Douglas, with a special performance by Michael’s longtime-friend singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett plus film clips commemorating his lauded career. The evening will culminate in the presentation of the Chaplin Award. Also attending was Lois Robbins, Actress/Ocean council member for charity OCEANA.

The event will start with VIP cocktails with the honoree in the Hauser Patron Lounge at Alice Tully Hall followed by a seated dinner in the glass atrium. The presentation of the award will be in the Starr Theater with tributes by those mentioned above with more guests to soon be announced. The festivities will close with dessert & dancing at the after-party which is being co-hosted by Justin Bartha, Adrien Brody, Piper Perabo, and the Film Societys New Wave Committee, also taking place in the glass atrium. This years Gala Co-Chairs are Liz Macklowe, Ann Tenenbaum & Thomas H. Lee with Vice Chairs, Daniel H & Nanna Stern; The Tribute Chairs are Irene & Bernard Schwartz.

Over the years, The Film Societys Annual Chaplin Award Gala has become one of the most prominent cultural affairs in the film industry and having the opportunity to bestow this honor on as passionate and successful an actor as Michael Douglas, highlighted by the caliber of Michaels peers and friends who are equally as excited to be apart of the evening, is truly thrilling for all of us here, said Mara Manus, Executive Director, The Film Society of Lincoln Center.

The Annual Gala began in 1972 and honored Charles Chaplin who returned to the US from exile to accept the commendation. Since then, the award has been renamed for Chaplin, and has honored many of the film industrys most notable talents, including Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, Laurence Olivier, Federico Fellini, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, James Stewart, Robert Altman, Martin Scorsese, Diane Keaton, Meryl Streep and last years recipient, Tom Hanks.

An actor with over thirty years of experience in theatre, film, and television, Douglas produced his first feature production in 1975 with the Academy Award-winning “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. Since then, as a producer and as an actor-producer, Michael has proven to have an intuition for choosing projects that reflect changing trends and public concerns such as, “The China Syndrome” and Traffic. Over that past three and a half decades Douglas has also starred in many box-office blockbusters and pop culture favorites, including; “Romancing the Stone”, “Fatal Attraction”, Wall Street, The War of the Roses, Disclosure, The American President, The Game, Wonder Boys, Dont Say A Word, The In-Laws, The Sentinel, You, Me & Dupree, King of California, and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Michael has also been a behind the scenes force for well know hits with stellar casts, like Flatliners, John Woos Face Off, John Grishams The Rainmaker and One Night at McCools. This year Douglas is returning to his National Board of Review, Golden Globe, & Academy Award winning role of Gordon Gekko in Wall Street 2; Money Never Sleeps, again directed by Oliver Stone with co-stars Shia Labeouf, Cary Mulligan and Josh Brolin as well as Solitary Man co-directed by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, co-staring Susan Sarandon, Danny Devito, Mary Louise-Parker, Jenna Fischer and Jesse Eisenberg.

In 1998 Douglas was appointed a United Nations Messenger of Peace. He is a strong advocate of nuclear disarmament and the control of small arms, and he sits on the Board of Ploughshares Fund. In 2009 Michael joined the project “Soldiers of Peace,” a movie against all wars and for global peace as well as “Nuclear Tipping Point,” about the journey that brought four prominent architects, Henry Kissinger, Sam Nunn, William Perry and George Schultz, of America’s nuclear deterrence policies, to a startling conclusion: it’s time to eliminate nuclear weapons altogether. Douglas has also hosted 10 years of the “Michael Douglas and Friends” Celebrity Golf event that raised over $5 million dollars for the Motion Picture and Television Fund.

or the first time in history, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has been brought to screen in the new film, ‘Wish Man,’ starring Andrew Steel, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Frank Whaley, Danny Trejo, and Bruce Davison. The film tells the story of how the Foundation’s creator, Frank Shankwitz, was able to part from childhood trauma and transform into helping millions of children across the world.

Meet Frank Shankwitz, a motorcycle cop struggling with his past and emotional childhood trauma after being ripped apart from his father by an emotionally abusive mother.

In what seems to be a nasty separation or divorce, Frank’s mother has done everything to keep Frank and his father apart, until he appears on their property wanting to see Frank. Before parting ways, he gives Frank a cowboy hat as a reminder that he will always be with him.

Wanting to spend time with his father, Frank’s mom decides to forcibly take Frank away, throwing him in the car, leaving nothing behind but the cowboy hat on the dusty ground. Unbeknownst to Frank, his father is on a life-long mission to track down his son and bring him back “home.”

Flash forward to Frank grown up as a motorcycle cop, we see him as a closed-off figure. Until Michael. The police department brings young Michael to visit the precinct and meet everyone.

However, he is forced to face his past and change his future when he’s almost killed in a freak car accident on a desolate highway.

This life-altering incident sparks a chain reaction that places Shankwitz on a difficult and painful path towards redemption, leading him to an unexpected relationship Michael, terminally ill with leukemia, with a life expectancy of one week. The result? An unexpected relationship between Shankwitz and the boy, but most importantly, Shankwitz discovering a light that has been buried deep within since he was a child.

appropriate reminder of the importance of Rabin’s efforts to bring peace to Israel. As we honor
the memory of Yitzhak Rabin, Kissinger, whom Rabin considered both a friend and role model,

Danny Aiello, the Academy Award nominated actor and singer whose performances in more than 80 films have endeared him to audiences worldwide is releasing a holiday CD of traditional favorites entitled My Christmas Song for You. This is the second studio recording for the critically acclaimed entertainer who The New York Times says “has the bounce of his idols Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra and Louis Prima, and the throaty lyricism of another idol, Tony Bennett.”

My Christmas Song for You introduces some holiday classics with new flair including “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas”, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, “The Christmas Song” and “Winter Wonderland” alongside some of Danny’s favorites including “The Bells of St. Mary’s”, “Pocketful of Miracles” and “Silent Night”. The 15 song CD also includes Danny’s own personal “Night before Christmas” story and a very poignant tribute to his son Danny III who tragically lost his life to pancreatic cancer earlier this year.

Produced by Joe Geary and Danny Aiello, and mixed by Geary and Mike Ferretti, this is Aiello’s third release. He made his recording debut in 2004 with I Just Wanted to Hear the Words, a collection of traditional standards. That album charted #4 on the Billboard Traditional Jazz Chart and received high marks from critics coast to coast including the Los Angeles Times; “His voice warm and amiable, his phrasing easygoing and conversational, his singing revealed influences from his numerous idols-Bobby Darin in particular…but as with his acting, Aiello’s singing at its core was far more than an accumulation of influences. It was a pure manifestation, instead of his own rich persona, of the abundant life experience he brings to his art.”

Aiello always said he wanted the opportunity to work in the studio with talented musicians on songs he loves. And after having the opportunity to do that in 2004, he took his show and eight piece band he affectionately calls Joe Geary and the Guys on the road.
