Twice a year, time reminds us who’s really in charge.

And then, once a year, we steal an hour back from the dark.

Daylight Saving Time isn’t just about clocks springing forward or falling back — it’s about light winning, about stretching the day like a golden ribbon across the sky. It’s about that first evening when the sun lingers just a little longer, brushing buildings in amber, turning ordinary streets into movie sets.

Time is the one thing we can’t negotiate with. It doesn’t care about fame, money, or status. It moves — steady, relentless, democratic. But Daylight Saving Time? That’s our tiny rebellion. Our collective decision to chase the light.

And if you’re going to celebrate stealing back the sun, you do it with the best of the best.

You gather the visionaries, the artists, the dreamers — the ones who understand that an extra hour of light is an extra hour to create, to perform, to love, to build legacy. The composers who turn daylight into symphonies. The singers who stretch a sunset into a standing ovation. The storytellers who know that every second counts because every second is currency.

Daylight Saving Time is a reminder:

We don’t just mark time — we make something of it.

It’s cocktails on rooftops while the sky blushes pink.

It’s rehearsals that run long because inspiration doesn’t clock out.

It’s laughter that spills into the evening air, unhurried and unapologetic.

We don’t fear the ticking clock.

We toast to it.

Because the best of the best know something most people forget — time is not meant to be managed. It’s meant to be lived. Stretched. Celebrated.

So, when the clocks shift and the light lingers, step into it.

Stand taller.

Dream bigger.

Create louder.

Good News hears COMMENTARY ON THE NEW TREND OF AN AUTOMATIC TIME PIECE: Angie and Jeremy Zimmerman husband and wife co-founders of Chase Frederick

On Sunday, March 12th, we changed our clocks ahead one hour, which means that Daylight Savings Time started and Standard Time has ended. However, the change shouldn’t stop there. The Chase Frederick project, suggests that you should also take this opportunity to NOT only change the time, but your watch too.

Aiming to challenge the paradigm of thinking that an automatic watch is only for the men’s club, the Chase Frederick project, (https://www.chasefrederick.com) is on a mission to change this perception. The luxury time-piece company is hitting the luxury fashion accessories market hard with breathtakingly designed slim, self-winding automatic watches for women. Within an industry where automatic watches are primarily bulk and well suited for men, Chase Frederick hopes to debut multiple designs, with the help of crowdfunding, that reflect vintage aesthetics with a modern, yet romantic appeal. Chase Frederick is headquartered in Indianapolis and run by husband and wife co-founders Angie and Jeremy Zimmerman, who saw a missing product within the women’s watch market. The Chase Frederick Kickstarter will run for duration of 30 days and will assist the company in launching seven different automatic watch designs with a general retail price of under $300. The company has set an overall crowdfunding goal of $20K.
Angie and Jeremy Zimmerman will be able to discuss the following The levels for the campaign and contributor gifts include:
•	Contribute $30 or more for a free bracelet (Below)
•	$200 Super Early Bird Contributor special for choice of one watch with stainless steel band: Pink dial, Serenity blue dial, or Silver dial. Includes $30 bracelet for free. (Limited to 100 contributors)
•	$225 Super Early Bird Contributor special for choice of one watch with premium stainless steel band: Two toned gold, two-tone Rose gold or titanium. Includes $30bracelet for free. (Limited to 100 contributors)
•	$225 for choice of one watch with stainless steel band: Pink dial, Serenity blue dial, or silver dial. Includes $30 bracelet for free.
•	$250 for choice of one watch with premium stainless steel band: Two- tone gold, Two – tone rose gold, or Titanium. Includes $30 bracelet for free.
•	$1250 Sorority/Wedding Pack: Any choice of any six watches. Includes 6 bracelets, with a $30 value each.

Chase Frederick bracelet
“The trend has shifted towards larger watch dials, and this is because many watch brands spend so much time focusing on men and not women,” says Jeremy Zimmerman. “We chose to do something very few other brands do in the watch industry; we chose to focus on creating a truly feminine piece. A timepiece is a fashion statement which should complement your wardrobe, and we felt this bold statement for women should be elegant, and feminine, something women would be proud to wear.”
A self-winding automatic reflects a more classic style with a visual impact. Chase Frederick takes much pride in their first product, a 24mm Automatic Timepiece designed and manufactured with only the finest materials and quality craftsmanship. Every part of the timepiece is the brand’s original design while working closely with manufacturers to flesh out complete engineering specifications, identifying quality materials, processes and techniques that best fit the overall vision of creating an elegant and truly feminine piece.
The summer solstice occurs when the tilt of a planet’s semi-axis, in either the northern or the southern hemisphere, is most inclined toward the star (sun) that it orbits. Earth’s maximum axial tilt toward the sun is 23° 26′. This happens twice each year, at which times the sun reaches its highest position in the sky as seen from the north or the south pole.

The summer solstice occurs during a hemisphere’s summer. This is the northern solstice in the northern hemisphere and the southern solstice in the southern hemisphere. Depending on the shift of the calendar, the summer solstice occurs some time between June 20 and June 22 in the northern hemisphere[2][3] and between December 20 and December 23 each year in the southern hemisphere.[4]

When on a geographic pole, the sun reaches its greatest height, the moment of solstice, it can be noon only along that longitude which at that moment lies in the direction of the sun from the pole. For other longitudes, it is not noon. Noon has either passed or has yet to come. Hence the notion of a solstice day is useful. The term is colloquially used like midsummer to refer to the day on which solstice occurs. The summer solstice day has the longest period of daylight – except in the polar regions, where daylight is continuous, from a few days to six months around the summer solstice.

Worldwide, interpretation of the event has varied among cultures, but most recognize the event in some way with holidays, festivals, and rituals around that time with themes of religion or fertility.[5] The solstice is also known as the birthday of the sun, like the queen the sun celebrates twice a year.

Solstice is derived from the Latin words sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still).

For other uses, see Summer time (disambiguation) and DST (disambiguation).
This article is about the concept of daylight saving time. For local implementations, see Daylight saving time around the world.
World map. Europe, Russia, most of North America, parts of southern South America and southern Australia, and a few other places use DST. Most of equatorial Africa and a few other places near the equator have never used DST. The rest of the land mass is marked as formerly using DST.

Although not used by the majority of the world’s countries, daylight saving time is common in the Western world.
DST is used.
DST is no longer used.
DST has never been used.
Daylight saving time (DST) or summer time (see Terminology) is the practice of advancing clocks during the lighter months so that evenings have more daylight and mornings have less. Typically clocks are adjusted forward one hour near the start of spring and are adjusted backward in the autumn.

The modern idea of daylight saving was first proposed in 1895 by George Vernon Hudson, and it was first implemented by Germany and Austria-Hungary starting on 30 April 1916. Many countries have used it at various times since then, most consistently since the energy crises of the 1970s.

The practice has been both advocated and criticized. Adding daylight to evenings benefits retailing, sports, and other activities that exploit sunlight after working hours, but can cause problems for evening entertainment and other activities tied to the sun (such as farming) or to darkness (such as firework shows). Although an early goal of DST was to reduce evening use of incandescent lighting (formerly a primary use of electricity), modern heating and cooling usage patterns differ greatly, and research about how DST currently affects energy use is limited or contradictory.

Other problems sometimes caused by DST clock shifts are: They complicate timekeeping, and can disrupt meetings, travel, billing, record keeping, medical devices, heavy equipment, and sleep patterns. Software can often adjust computer clocks automatically, but this can be limited and error-prone, particularly when DST dates are changed.

Earth Charter US is inviting Americans to join the global celebration by organizing EC+10 gatherings in their homes and communities on November 2 in conjunction with the major EC+10 Event in Ahmedabad, India. Throughout this year we will facilitate online interactive conversations among Earth Charter supporters in the US to help develop and promote EC+10 gatherings next November.

We invite you to take part in an online Earth Charter regional gathering that will take place this Thursday, 8 April at 10:30am Eastern Daylight Time, where we’ll start discussing our plans for this historic celebration.

Here is some information about the event from our friends at Earth Charter International:

Earth Charter International is encouraging four informal regional meetings (one in each major region of the world) that will bring together Earth Charter youth groups, affiliates, some partners and council members with the following purpose:

Know more about those individuals and organizations working with Earth Charter in the region.
Have a short discussion about Earth Charter activities in 2010 (specifically on the Earth Charter +10 anniversary).
Share views regarding the Earth Charter strategy for gaining recognition for the Earth Charter at the UN.
These meetings will be executed in an online multimedia platform, which has been already used for Earth Charter online courses. To join the meetings, you need high speed internet connection; also web-camera and microphone are useful if you want to join the discussion. In case you don’t have those, you can still participate through the text chats. To enter the platform, please follow the steps on the “EC+10 Meeting Room” webpage. This will be open half an hour before our meeting Thursday, 8 April at 10:30 am.

We very much hope you will be able to take two hours of your busy time to connect with us through a computer with good internet connection.

We are very excited to be taking part in this worldwide event, and we hope that you will join us this Thursday to kick off the celebration.

Thank you for all that you do.

Rick Clugston,
Executive Director,
Earth Charter US
