IDGY DEAN Live at the National Arts Club

A self-described feminist loop artist, mystic and yogini, Idgy Dean infuses her one-woman psychedelic rock with a calming Zen presence that belies the emotional intensity of her DIY beats. Although she released her debut LP Ominous Harminus in 2015, the Brooklynite otherwise known as Lindsay Sanwald has been making music since she was a teenager, inspired to play drums, guitar and bass and write her own songs by the dual presence of Kate Bush and Nine Inch Nails. If those influences sound divergent at first glance, think again – Dean’s music combines a visceral mysticism with a performative grandeur that reflects the dark and the life-giving in equal measure, doling out tribal drum beats and clangorous guitar lines underneath airy vocals during her live shows, which are symphonies of emotion wrought from loop pedals. A magnetic performer, Dean’s ethereal experimental pop has naturally found its way into theater, when she was responsible for the live score of The ETLE Universe, a “queer feminist cyborg time-travel epic thing.”
With recent TV appearances, movie synch and brand licensing deals. featured selections to both the Red Bull Music Academy and Adrien Grenier’s Wreckroom Records, Idgy Dean is taking off. This is a rare opportunity to catch her in a relatively small venue at the National Arts Club. You will be in for a real show. Reveals Dozens of New Do-It-Yourself Products
DIY Expansion Includes New Cobranded Products with Maker Media
FORT WORTH, Texas, May 16, 2013 — Just in time for Maker Faire Bay Area, RadioShack announced a major partnership expansion with Maker Media, the creators of MAKE Magazine, Makezine.com, and Maker Faire, to better serve the DIY community. Maker Media and RadioShack will be teaming up to collaborate on an expansive DIY product lineup, exclusively carried at RadioShack and Maker Shed, including kits, robotics and tools.
“DIY is part of RadioShack’s DNA,” said Dawn Callahan, vice president of merchandising, responsible for the DIY product category at RadioShack. “We’re grateful to be part of a wonderfully loyal community of makers, and we listened when they told us how we can help bring their ideas to life. We’re excited to deliver on that feedback with an expanded assortment, including cobranded products with the smart folks at Maker Media, as well as other products on makers’ wish lists.”
“Adding to the popular Make line of kits, like ‘Getting Started with Arduino’ the new cobranded product lineup from Maker Media and RadioShack combine Maker Media’s strength in cultivating and growing the maker movement with RadioShack’s strong retail footprint and DIY heritage,” said Dale Dougherty, founder and CEO of Maker Media. “Our new cobranded products are designed to give makers a path to making while they continue to develop their skills and push the limits of their creativity.”
The new cobranded product lineup will be available in-store and online exclusively at RadioShack later this year. In addition, MAKE Magazine will join the MAKE book lineup and will be available in stores this fall. RadioShack has an exciting lineup of additional DIY products that are available now, and with more to come throughout the summer and fall.

RadioShack regularly surveys DIY customers to refine its product offering. As a result, the company added Arduino microcontrollers as well as hundreds of new parts and tools to its stores and website in 2012. Similarly, the newly announced products deliver on things makers told the company they desired most from their neighborhood DIY resource, including RadioShack-branded:

Leading TV DIY Expert Kristan Cunningham Talks About Easy Summer Home Projects

Kristan Cunningham is an interior designer, DIY Expert and one of the most recognizable faces in design television. After running showrooms and working with several well-known designers, she landed at a small upscale firm in the heart of Los Angeles’ design district. In 2001, she competed on HGTV’s “Designer’s Challenge” and one year later, she kicked off the first of 10 seasons as part of the HGTV “Design on a Dime” family. Later, Kristan returned to the network as a judge and mentor for “HGTV’s $250,000 Challenge” and “Bang For Your Buck”. Kristan then joined the “Rachael Ray Show” as the resident design guru, where she tackled hundreds of assignments. She currently serves as host, mentor and judge on the competition series “Super Saver Showdown”, premiering this July on OWN. Kristan has become the go to designer for a variety of talk shows and her work has been featured in top publications. Kristan studied interior design at The University of Charleston in West Virginia and resides in Los Angeles with her fiancé Scott and their dogs Floyd and Bean.
