Raised a 1950s Republican and a Lutheran, her political and religious evolution led her to become a Democrat and a Quaker.She is a born-again Christian, was a fundamentalist and evangelical for several years. In one way or another, she has been associated with the Southern Baptists, United Church of Christ, Lutheran, Methodist and Presbyterian churches. She serves on the board of Christian Democrats in America. She has also been a county caucus chair and has served as a delegate for the Colorado county and state Democratic Convention.

Dr. Seger believes our nation is in the midst of a moral crisis, and notes that Democrats of late have been more willing to speak up about their faith and have been more willing to look at the crisis in our government through their moral and ethical faith perspectives.
