Ms. Consolo’s portfolio also includes memberships, affiliations, and executive appointments in industry, civic, and philanthropic organizations. She is on the Board of Governors of the Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York, Past President of the Association of Real Estate Women, Director of New York Commercial Real Estate Women, and former board member of the AREW Charitable Fund. Ms. Consolo’s memberships include the Urban Land Institute, the Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association of New York, Inc., the Real Estate Board of New York, New York Commercial Real Estate Women Network, and several Chambers of Commerce. She is also a member of Fashion Group International, the International Council of Shopping Centers, and National Realty Club. In addition, she participates in the National Retail Federation and the Retail Marketing Society.

Many honors and awards have been bestowed on Ms. Consolo throughout her career. Prudential Douglas Elliman awarded her the Top Retail and Commercial GCI for 2005 and 2006. In 1992, Crain’s New York Business called her a Rising Star and in 1996, one of New York’s 75 Most Influential Women in Business. Three years later, Crain’s named her one of New York’s 100 Most Influential Women in Business, a distinction she earned again in 2007. In 1999, she was Woman of the Year by the Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York, a first-ever for the trade association. In 2000, she received the AREW Founder’s Award, the honor which she originated. Ms. Consolo received another AREW award, that of Outstanding Woman of Achievement, and is a Woman of Valor by the Capuchin Order of St. John the Baptist Friary. The non-profit organization Dress for Success honored Ms. Consolo with a Success at Its Best Award in 2005.

Prior to joining Prudential Douglas Elliman, Ms. Consolo served as Vice Chairman of Garrick-Aug Worldwide, Ltd. for nearly 20 years. She founded the firm’s international division in 1987 and opened the European office, in based in Paris.

Chinese Lacquer is the processed sap from lacquer trees that has been an integral component of Chinese decorative art from early times.

Zhang, who teaches at the well-respected Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in China, has transformed traditional lacquer technique into a medium of modern abstract painting.

“To understand Wenzhi Zhang’s pictorial goals, one must see them as emerging from a long Chinese tradition,” said gallery owner Joy Wai.  “Traditional Chinese painting has from the beginning depended above all on the expressive quality of line. This has been combined with a deep intuition concerning the dynamic register peculiar to each primary color along with its modulations of shade, tint and tone and may be likened to the sound modulations of a musical instrument or the human voice.  Wenzhi Zhang’s work incorporates fully this tradition. But not only does Chinese brushed calligraphy express intelligible, verbal meaning but palpable emotion in the balletic sweep, surge and rhythm of its contours and forms.” Added Cole Harrell, the gallery’s art director, “Her paintings reflect her experiences, where the strokes and the layers voice her honesty, passion, and most importantly, her reverence for this lost art.  Her works ‘Sacred Calligraphy Serial’ and ‘Landscapes Serial’ are narratives that leave an indelible mark on contemporary art.”

Wenzhi Zhang was born in Guangzhou, China. She holds a MFA from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Seoul National University of Sciences and Technology in South Korea. Her works are represented in prestigious private and public collections, including private collections of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, the National Art Museum of China, Malaysia National Art Museum, Norway National Museum of Art, Korean Palace Kiln Museum and many other university museums.  She has lectured internationally in many universities and has written several textbooks.

The Joy Wai Gallery is located in New York City’s historical Chelsea District. It focuses on contemporary art with a strong focus on fine art photography, and showcases visionary artists to an international audience.
