<p style="text-align: left;">All of us are prone to Anger, Jealousy, Greed. These are negative emotions. In some of us they are present 100 percent, in some 80 percent, in some 50 percent, in some 20 percent and in the great Saints &#8211; they are not present at all.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The great saints possess the emotions of Love, Sharing, Caring and Compassion. These are positive emotions arising out of awareness.<br />
Even we have a large of small percentage of the positive emotions.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">How do we overcome negative emotions and develop positive emotions?<br />
We develop through Awareness. Each time you are angry, jealous or greedy &#8211; start practicing the awareness that you are angry now. The moment you are aware that you are angry, and are performing your actions due to anger, the anger slowly comes down. Then you will feel that your behavior was quite silly.<br />
When we keep on practicing awareness of our negative emotions, slowly the negative emotions, show up less and less.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The old saying goes “count to 10 before you say something in anger“. Now many times, before we count to 10, the angry words come out. Then after some time you feel bad, that you said or did so many things in anger. That is when your awareness is functioning. In your state of awareness, you regret what you did.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">When you keep on practicing awareness of each and every negative behavior, slowly the time gap between when you got angry and the time when the awareness comes in reduces. Initially two days after you get angry, the awareness will come in. Then the awareness comes after 1 day after you get angry. Then the awareness comes a few hours after you get angry. Then the awareness comes 20 minutes after you get angry. Then the awareness comes 5 minutes after you get angry. Then the awareness comes as you are getting angry. Then finally the awareness comes BEFORE you get angry. Once the awareness comes before you are angry, then there is no more anger displayed.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The irritation in you is not because you are a perfectionist. It is because of the anger in You.<br />
The jealousy always is towards someone close to you, like your friend or relative or family. It is never for anyone unknown.<br />
So all these negative qualities can be overcome by Developing AWARENESS.<br />
FUNCTION OUT OF YOUR AWARENESS. NOT OUT OF YOUR EMOTION.</p>

The holiday season can be a joyous time of year, but it can also be a stressful time for many people.  Whether it’s financial worries over a long gift list, anxiety about difficult family dynamics, exhaustion from juggling a hectic schedule, or loneliness being apart from loved ones due to these unprecedented times, emotions are often heightened at this time of year and mood changes are common.1<br />
Even people with no history of mental illness may feel confused about whether they are experiencing the temporary feelings of “depression” associated with the “holiday blues” or if symptoms may be something more serious that should be discussed with their healthcare provider.<br />
And for the 1 in 5 Americans who are living with pre-existing mental health conditions, research shows that the holidays can be particularly challenging.2 In fact, 64% of people with mental illness report holidays make their conditions worse.1<br />
This can be especially true for people who struggle with certain mental health conditions that can be exacerbated by stress. For those living with bipolar I disorder, for example, stress, sleep disruption, and heightened emotional reactions to their environment—all common around “the most wonderful time of the year”—can trigger both manic and depressive episodes,3,4 so it’s important that people work to manage stress and monitor symptoms closely.<br />

<p>Researchers are finding that thoughts like these, the hallmarks of people sometimes called “cockeyed optimists,” can do far more than raise one’s spirits. They may actually improve health and extend life.</p>
<p>There is no longer any doubt that what happens in the brain influences what happens in the body. When facing a health crisis, actively cultivating positive emotions can boost the immune system and counter depression. Studies have shown an indisputable link between having a positive outlook and health benefits like lower blood pressure, less heart disease, better weight control and healthier blood sugar levels.</p>
<p>Even when faced with an incurable illness, positive feelings and thoughts can greatly improve one’s quality of life. Dr. Wendy Schlessel Harpham, a Dallas-based author of several books for people facing cancer, including “Happiness in a Storm,” was a practicing internist when she learned she had non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the immune system, 27 years ago. During the next 15 years of treatments for eight relapses of her cancer, she set the stage for happiness and hope, she says, by such measures as surrounding herself with people who lift her spirits, keeping a daily gratitude journal, doing something good for someone else, and watching funny, uplifting movies. Her cancer has been in remission now for 12 years.</p>
<p>“Fostering positive emotions helped make my life the best it could be,” Dr. Harpham said. “They made the tough times easier, even though they didn’t make any difference in my cancer cells.”</p>
<p>While Dr. Harpham may have a natural disposition to see the hopeful side of life even when the outlook is bleak, new research is demonstrating that people can learn skills that help them experience more positive emotions when faced with the severe stress of a life-threatening illness.</p>
<p>Judith T. Moskowitz, a professor of medical social sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, developed a set of eight skills to help foster positive emotions. In earlier research at the University of California, San Francisco, she and colleagues found that people with new diagnoses of H.I.V. infection who practiced these skills carried a lower load of the virus, were more likely to take their medication correctly, and were less likely to need antidepressants to help them cope with their illness.</p>
<p>The researchers studied 159 people who had recently learned they had H.I.V. and randomly assigned them to either a five-session positive emotions training course or five sessions of general support. Fifteen months past their H.I.V. diagnosis, those trained in the eight skills maintained higher levels of positive feelings and fewer negative thoughts related to their infection.</p>
<p>An important goal of the training is to help people feel happy, calm and satisfied in the midst of a health crisis. Improvements in their health and longevity are a bonus. Each participant is encouraged to learn at least three of the eight skills and practice one or more each day. The eight skills are:</p>
<p>■ Recognize a positive event each day.</p>
<p>■ Savor that event and log it in a journal or tell someone about it.</p>
<p>■ Start a daily gratitude journal.</p>
<p>■ List a personal strength and note how you used it.</p>
<p>■ Set an attainable goal and note your progress.</p>

I have the devil on one shoulder and the angel on the other with a Hamster running on a wheel in the middle that falls over from exhaustion from listening to both of them fighting with each other. I was asked by my parents to come back home to live, take care, protect and love them till the die. My father died in my arms on April 5th at 6:11Am.When I look at my mothers face and into her eyes and she asks me  ”what’s going to happen to me “ She’s 96 scared to death that she will be alone and abandoned as she has been by my brothers and her grandchildren. My whole life flashes before my eyes. I say “Mother don’t worry everything is going to be all right. You’re just getting a little older. Dad left you with this beautiful apartment and this beautiful view of Central Park that is God’s Television. I will never leave you and I will take care of you the rest of your life. I promised that to my dad when I spoke to him in his coffin. I asked the “Shomer&#8221; if he could open the casket for me, as I wanted to make sure it was my dad and wanted to have a heart to heart talk with him face to face.</p>
<p>Actually I have nightmare every day and I am scared to death as to the outcome, my bothers and fist cousin keep threatening to evict and move my mother to a small one bedroom in Queens. They have hired two attorneys that are specialists (That are being paid by my father’s estate) that are against my mother and I.  Everyday we read about elderly women prayed upon and raped in nursing homes, caregivers that overmedicate and abuse their patients. Cruelty that is unjust and one of the consuming and overwhelming reasons that my grandparents and parents worked so hard to flee for their lives and from the nightmares of the ghettos of Russia, Away from the fear of death and bullying of the &#8220;Pogroms&#8221;. My mother’s father never left his home for over two years. My mother still has nightmares of the soldiers coming to her door asking if they were Jewish, while they were hiding in a closet in the dark, afraid for their lives. I hold her hand while she is going through this recurring nightmare. As I am next to her I too start crying at the fear and cruelty I am living for giving up my life to move back home and live like a child again and questioning everyday if I did and do the right thing. Desperately trying and searching for approval from friends and acquaintances, as family members only see me as blocking them from getting their money. Fearing that this will happen to me , knowing I have hostile trustees that will get back at me later. Just as my mother has fears when I’m not around. I fear for my mother’s life, as it will take a sheriff, doctors, sedation and the police ambulance before I will let anyone move my mother from her home of 46 years. I have sleepless nights about the possibility of that outcome. I read everyday about supposedly close families and then the disgusting family situations. On the other hand I think and pray that my mother would be better off not being here on earth and seeing the obvious. Nobody comes to break bread with her anymore. My mother was nobodies fool. She always had the ability to go right to the heart. I know she still sees. Relatives call at night to make their obligatory daily call and she says “I love you, when are you coming to see me?” and then the caretakers and I hear their bullshit answers. On the other hand I am frustrated and confused that I have this conflicting feelings. </p>
<p>Didn’t I come from the same womb? Is there a right or wrong? I thought everyone was taught to honor their mother and father. Didn’t they get the same love I did? Why do I feel so alone in the family? Am I right? Am I doing the right thing? Why do I let that Devil and Angel struggle throughout me everyday? Why don’t I walk away, let them move my mother, hire cheaper care givers, overmedicate her, sell the apartment, call home everyday, get the same amount of money, live my life, my mother’s 96 &#8211; she lived her life, liquidate all the assets of the estate now, so when my mother dies everything is done . No body will be obligated to come from Florida, Syracuse, California, Kansas City, Delaware , Brooklyn , Rockville Center after the funeral. </p>
<p>Additional thoughts</p>
<p>My mother and father earned the money, not I or my brothers. </p>
<p>The agony of the indecision and fear of not knowing </p>
<p>I am on an emotional roll a coaster every day going through the gamut of emotions.</p>
<p>I am afraid to go out grocery shopping or to a meeting for fear that my brother’s will have her taken out by medication and force.</p>
<p>My note to my dad &#8211; laid on his heart , under the shroud in his casket </p>
<p>My Aunt Darolyn suggested I write a note and put him under his shroud next to his heart so he could read it on his way up to heaven. I also said I will email him in heaven on Facebook. I placed a bell in your left hand and said “if you need me for anything on your way to heaven, just ring the bell and I’ll be right there. I also placed a black Grenadine tie, that you love so much. Ties were your way out of Palooka-ville and making a better life for you, mother and your family.</p>
