USE OF FUNDS: Our R&D phase has established thousands of relationships. Funding will help MBC make sales for integrated media relationships with content from existing and new corporations, non-profits, and producers. For example, MBC produced content in conjunction with and entirely on Johnson and Johnson, “The JNJ Care Giving Show.” JNJ paid to produce and broadcast the show on MBC and other media. Integrated content is the future. With funding, MBC will inform the world about our media and create user-generated interactivity and social networking. We are one of the first for branded content. We are opening offices in China.

Designed to empower people with multiple myeloma (MM), MM Told True highlights the stories of those with the disease, bringing them to the forefront through spoken or visual art. In her thought-provoking poem, Jae tells the story of Oya – a committed father, podcaster, aspiring musician and advocate for health equity in the Black community – who was diagnosed with MM in 2017, despite difficulty having his concerns taken seriously.

Since his diagnosis, Oya has become an outspoken member of the MM community, with the hope that others will reach a quicker diagnosis and feel supported through treatment.

MM is a currently incurable cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow with over 34,000 new cases estimated to be diagnosed in 2023. Even with treatment, the disease tends to relapse – meaning symptoms come back after temporarily improving – or progress.

Patients report feeling like they’re inside a maze, as promising treatment paths repeatedly hit a wall. MM disproportionately impacts ethnic and racial minority groups in incidence, onset and outcome, with Black patients twice as likely to die from the disease compared with white patients.

MM Told True not only illustrates patient stories, but also provides tools and information about MM – so people living with the disease can feel educated and empowered against this relentless blood cancer.

The next phase of the campaign involves encouraging others affected by MM to share their unique stories on MMToldTrue.com, whether it comes in the form of a personal photo, a powerful message or something else that expresses how they feel. These lived experiences can serve as inspiration for people with MM and their care partners.

On March 2, Oya and Jae will be available to discuss how they came together to create meaningful art from Oya’s story, his experience living with MM, and how others can share their own stories and find support through the MM Told True website.

Health disparities are defined as avoidable and unfair differences in the health of people or groups that negatively impact their quality of life and life expectancy. Research has shown that clear disparities exist in relation to HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, mental health, and COVID-19.

Now a new report conducted by Economist Impact explores the opportunities that could be created by eliminating health disparities over the next 20 years, while charting a bold course for unified action. Some key findings in the report include:
• Disparities in care are avoidable, unfair, and cost us all
• Addressing inequities must be an urgent moral, social, and economic priority
• Various organizations must contribute to the pursuit of health equity
• Systems are slow to promote equity because they are often incentivized not to

The next steps to achieve health equity by 2040 include the following recommended actions:
1. Restructuring the health system to incentivize prevention for both physical and mental health
2. Reimagining investment beyond the upfront cost, towards longer term investments
3. Making practical changes that improve collaboration
4. Improving knowledge of how to best reach certain populations

The report concludes that inaction can be as powerful as action. It shows that to eliminate health disparities, key groups at a community and system level must work together to improve health equity.

Dr. Keith Rawlings, M.D., Senior Medical Director of ViiV Healthcare, will be available to discuss the impact of health inequities in your local community and how they are negatively impacting particular groups, including Black, Latinx, and minority ethnic groups. He will also talk about the new roadmap to eliminating these disparities, particularly as it relates to the HIV epidemic.

BOSTON (March, 2020) — Fenway Community Center (FCC), an independent nonprofit neighborhood space, will hold its annual fundraiser “Love, Fenway,” at 6:30pm on March 19 at its address, 1282 Boylston Street. FCC’s mission is to serve as a gathering place to share information, deliver programs, and provide services that enrich the lives of all Fenway residents, while also exemplifying its values of collaboration, community, enrichment, equity, innovation, and sustainability. This is the center’s second yearly benefit to celebrate, support, and generate more awareness of its organization and the services it provides. It will include awards, live music, an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, a raffle, and a silent auction. Tickets for “Love, Fenway” are $75 and available via the FCC website or Eventbrite.

Last year, the fundraiser was a huge success, raising more than $25,000 for the Center. The attendance and participation demonstrated the passion of residents to contribute to their neighborhood and the organization’s influence within Fenway. FCC serves its neighborhood residents as its priority but welcomes surrounding communities as well. The Center is determined to hold a successful fundraiser to bring awareness and expand on their services. This year, with the sustained support of its members, friends, and sponsors, it hopes to continue building a more united community.

At “Love, Fenway” this March, Executive Director of FCC Robert Kordenbrock will present the 2020 Community Spirit Award to Brenda Clark, as well as honor the late Stephen Sorkin. Clark first came upon FCC in September 2018 and has been an active member since. She currently serves on multiple committees, including those for Programming and Health & Wellness for All. Sorkin moved to the area in 1978 to pursue his passion for teaching theatre. He taught his own “Acting is Believing” class and subsequent January 2019 performance at FCC, showcasing the community of diverse people and talents he cultivated.

Reflecting on the progress the nonprofit has made, Kordenbrock said, “we’ve experienced unprecedented growth since last year’s Love, Fenway as far as membership, attendance at FCC programs and events, and financial support from local businesses.” He added, “we have exciting plans in store for the rest of 2020 and can’t wait to share them with the Fenway community!”

Fenway Community Center at The Viridian is a 501(c)(3) organization established to provide a safe, vibrant, and inclusive neighborhood gathering space for Fenway and Audubon Circle residents and organizations; to provide multigenerational programming of benefit to the community; and to partner with local groups, colleges, universities, and institutions to provide creative and useful classes, exhibitions, and workshops in arts and culture, health and wellness, education and enrichment, and civic engagement. Mr. Fisch, Jr. has also worked with a leading investment bank in China in analyzing strategic partnership opportunities within their portfolio of companies and consulted on how to make those companies marketable for U.S. investment. In addition he create a consulting company, Aeris Management, protecting the rights of workers in the fashion industry. This led to the success of a firm with 64 associates and became the centerpiece of a Discovery Channel documentary on helping those in need. He now runs, with Archana Sivadassan, FS Capital (A fund that is committed to changing the world for the better).

Recently, Fisch was a Producer on Kathleen Turner’s latest Broadway work, HIGH, on Broadway, has Produced a Carnegie Hall Concert where the proceeds were donated to the instill music programs into the NY Public School System, has Directed four episodes of a new T.V. show (Two Many Moms), Directed the musical parody of Showtime’s Dexter, and is slated to direct his pilot, Last First Kiss over the next several weeks. Currently he is the Festival Director of the New York New Works Theatre Festival where Broadway Producers and Emmy Award winners have been aggregated to review and mentor the work of aspiring writers from around the country.

He has studied Logistics, Engineering and Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Economics at the State University of New York, International Finance at Adelphi University, and Human Rights / Urban Development at Harvard University. While at M.I.T. Fisch Co-Authored a thesis on developing an environmentally friendly automobile that achieves 173mpg and is produced in India.

Fisch is an avid triathlete, has completed the Ironman, and acknowledges that some of the best years of his life have been as a volunteer with the Thursday night team at the Ronald McDonald House.
