After 24 wonderful years, Earth Speaks is closing its doors, and I’d love for you to join me in celebrating the memories and moments we’ve shared.

On December 14th, 2024, I’ll be hosting a store closing event, and I invite you to come and choose items that hold special meaning for me.

Dear Friends,

It’s hard to believe it’s been three years since Al’s passing.

I began writing several versions for this email invite, struggling to find the right words to express how much he is dearly missed.. each and every day.

With a profound sense of gratitude for all of the memories and wonderful connections he made possible-

I found myself crying, as I deleted each one…

And at the end of everything, all I could hear was Al’s voice, saying:

“Jen, just send the damn invite.”

So here it is.

If you’re in town, please join us for a (better late than never!) memorial service to celebrate the life of our friend Al.

Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts (BACCA) and Sognare Insieme Viaggi travel agency are proud to announce their partnership in presenting this exhibit.This virtual showcase brings together artists from Calabria, Italy, and Long Island, New York and the Greater New York Metro area, inviting them to redefine artistic boundaries by crafting mixed media
artworks from unconventional found materials. Calabria, Italy and Long Island, New York, both have vibrant artistic communities eager to foster connections and champion environmental stewardship. Participating artists were encouraged to utilize a variety of discarded materials including, but not limited to, plastic waste, reclaimed metal, and paper
within their work. The exhibition aims to challenge viewers to reconsider the value of everyday items while promoting sustainable practices through art. Featured artists from Long Island include Bri Sander (UpSculpt), Gregory Rapp, Tom Brydelsky, Sarah Vitale, and Scott Schneider (Toxic/Nature Studios). Featured artists from Italy include Curator Luigi Impieri, Stefano Ricci, Antonio Froio, Delio Piccioni, Alfredo Granata, and Antonio De Pietro.

Now in its 42nd year, the Paumanauke Pow Wow celebrates the history and culture of the Paumanauke tribe. Admission helps support the Native American Scholarship Fund.

In particular, Brooklyn is home to a large and growing Chinese population; according to the 2016 American Community Survey, 7.8 percent of the borough identifies as Chinese, a population largely with origins in the Fujian province that now resides in neighborhoods such as Bensonhurst, Sheepshead Bay, and Sunset Park. Last October, Borough President Adams and Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that the City will pursue a new archway spanning Eighth Avenue between 60th and 61st streets in Sunset Park, from Beijing’s Chaoyang District; Borough President Adams’ administration has established sister city agreements with that municipality as well as friendship agreements with the Chinese cities of Yiwu and Shanghai’s Putuo District.

Tomorrow at 12:30 PM, Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams will join the Sino America New York Brooklyn Archway Association in co-hosting a Lantern Flower Market in the plaza in front of Brooklyn Borough Hall and nearby Columbus Park featuring celebratory giveaways and live cultural performances, including lion dances from the Eastern Culture Exchange Association and New York Lotus Light Association, kung fu demonstrations, and traditional folk songs. In traditional Chinese custom, candies, fresh flowers, fruits, and other holiday supplies are purchased before Lunar New Year at a lantern flower market, which will be held in Brooklyn for the first time.
