About Tatyana:

Tatyana Mezhentseva is a young Russian singer, who participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2019.

She was born in Moscow in 2009. From the early ages she was engaged in creative work: at the age of four she started to do vocal and compose songs. She is also good at playing the piano.

The singer is sure that for success it is necessary to study a lot and train hard. She has a desire to develop further and to try something new. That is why, at the age of 7 she decided to do aerial gymnastics, which, as Tanya admits, gives her the ability to fly. Today she performs at the creative association of air gymnasts Art Area Project.

CREATIVE WAY AND ACHIEVEMENTS

She studied vocals under Mikhail Grebenshikov’s guidance at the Alla Pugacheva variety workshop. Alla Borisovna noted that Tanya is very beautiful: shining blond curls distinguish her among young artists.

Later she became a student of the Igor Krutoy Academy. She also worked with A-TEENS label.

At the age of eight Tanya made her television debut — together with Dina Garipova (Eurovision Song Contest 2013 finalist, winner of the TV show The Voice on Channel 1 in 2012) — she performed the song Fifth Element on the Christmas Song of the Year (NTV). Since then, she has regularly performed and appeared at prestigious events, such as QUARTIRNIC TEENS, a concert on the occasion of Eurovision, etc. In the summer of 2019, she was nominated for the Fashion People Awards.

JUNIOUR EUROVISON

In 2019, Tatiana had the honor of representing Russia at the international contest Junior Eurovision, which was held in Poland on November 24.

Tatyana met a Tuvan singer Denberel Oorzhak (winner of the contest You are super! on NTV) in Crimea during the contest New Wave for children. The young talents recorded the song Time for us, which was co-authored by Tatiana herself.

The qualifying competition wasn’t easy. The jury consisted of Russian pop stars, producers, former contestants of Junior Eurovision. The result was significantly influenced by the online voting. Tanya and Denberel managed to outrun their competitors and win the right to represent their country in the contest in Poland.

Igor Krutoy admitted, “Tanya and Danberel have a good song, I like it. It has emotions and it is written well to show their vocal skills. Moreover, it is easy to remember”.

Philip Kirkorov wished them luck, “You’re talented and you look great!”

Alexey Golubev, a famous director, producer and video maker, put on a competition number, as well as made a video Time for us.

To take part in one of the most prestigious international competitions is a great success at the beginning of your professional career. Tanya is not upset that she did not manage to win it — she treats the failures quite easily. At the Junior Eurovision Song Contest she gained a lot of experience, which is so necessary for young artist. But Tanya is not going to stop on reached: she continues to develop her talent and brings new ideas to life. She dreams to star in movies, work with Sting, her icon and, of course, take part in Eurovision.

Recently Tanya released a single Molodi, which was not only loved by her audience, but also found support from a new listener. The song is rapidly gaining popularity in social networks and in the media environment.

-J Day in Times Square is a photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt that portrays an American sailor kissing a woman in a white dress on Victory over Japan Day (V-J Day) in Times Square in New York City, on August 14, 1945.

The photograph, taken with a Leica IIIa camera, was published a week later in Life magazine among many photographs of celebrations around the United States that were presented in a twelve-page section titled Victory Celebrations.[1] A two-page spread faces three other kissing poses among celebrators in Washington, D.C., Kansas City, and Miamiopposite Eisenstaedt’s, which was given a full-page display. Kissing was a favorite pose encouraged by media photographers of service personnel during the war, but Eisenstaedt was photographing a spontaneous event that occurred in Times Square as the announcement of the end of the war on Japan was made by U.S. President Harry S. Truman at seven o’clock. Similar jubilation spread quickly with the news.

The photograph is known under various titles, such as V-J Day in Times Square, V-Day, and The Kiss.[2][3]

The official United States celebration is not on this date, however. V-J Day is instead celebrated on September 2, the date of the formal signing of the surrender.[4] A special day of remembrance is marked in Japan and other countries on September 2.

Because Eisenstaedt was photographing rapidly changing events during the celebrations he did not have an opportunity to get the names and details. The photograph does not clearly show the faces of either person involved in this embrace and several people have claimed to be the subjects. The photograph was shot just south of 45th Street looking north from a location where Broadway and Seventh Avenue converge. Soon afterward, throngs of people crowded into the square and it became a sea of people.

Accounts by Alfred Eisenstaedt[edit] In two different books he wrote, Alfred Eisenstaedt gave two slightly different accounts of taking the photograph and of its nature.

From Eisenstaedt on Eisenstaedt:

In Times Square on V.J. Day I saw a sailor running along the street grabbing any and every girl in sight. Whether she was a grandmother, stout, thin, old, didn’t make a difference. I was running ahead of him with my Leica looking back over my shoulder but none of the pictures that were possible pleased me. Then suddenly, in a flash, I saw something white being grabbed. I turned around and clicked the moment the sailor kissed the nurse. If she had been dressed in a dark dress I would never have taken the picture. If the sailor had worn a white uniform, the same. I took exactly four pictures. It was done within a few seconds.
Only one is right, on account of the balance. In the others the emphasis is wrong — the sailor on the left side is either too small or too tall. People tell me that when I am in heaven they will remember this picture.

I was walking through the crowds on V-J Day, looking for pictures. I noticed a sailor coming my way. He was grabbing every female he could find and kissing them all — young girls and old ladies alike. Then I noticed the nurse, standing in that enormous crowd. I focused on her, and just as I’d hoped, the sailor came along, grabbed the nurse, and bent down to kiss her. Now if this girl hadn’t been a nurse, if she’d been dressed dark clothes, I wouldn’t have had a picture. The contrast between her white dress and the sailor’s dark uniform gives the photograph its extra impact.
It became a cultural icon overnight and by establishing his copyright, Eisenstaedt carefully controlled the rights to it, only allowing a limited number of reproductions which determined how it could be used.[citation needed]

Jorgensen’s similar photograph
U.S. Navy photo journalist Victor Jorgensen captured another view of the same scene, which was published in the New York Times the following day.[5] Jorgensen titled his photograph Kissing the War Goodbye. It shows less of Times Square in the background, lacking the characteristic view of the complex intersection so that the location needs to be identified, it is dark and shows few details of the main subjects, and it does not show the lower legs and feet of the subjects.

Unlike the Eisenstaedt photograph, which is protected by copyright, this Navy photograph is in the public domain as it was produced by a federal government employee on official duty. While the angle of the photograph may be less interesting than that of Eisenstaedt’s photo, it clearly shows the actual location of the iconic kiss occurring in the front of the Chemical Bank and Trust Building, with the Walgreens Pharmacy signage on the building façade visible in the background.

Identity of the kissers[edit] Edith Shain wrote to Eisenstaedt in the late 1970s claiming to be the woman in the picture.[6] In August 1945, Shain was working at Doctor’s Hospital in New York City as a nurse when she and a friend heard on the radio that World War II had ended. They went to Times Square where all the celebrating was and as soon as she arrived on the street from the subway, the sailor grabbed her in an embrace and kissed her. She related that at the time she thought she might as well let him kiss her since he fought for her in the war. Shain did not claim that she was the woman in the white dress until many years later when she wrote to Eisenstaedt. He notified the magazine that he had received her letter claiming to be the subject.[citation needed]

Since the identity of the woman had been claimed, in its August 1980 issue, the editors of Life asked that the kissing sailor come forward. In the October 1980 issue, the editors reported that eleven men and three women had come forward claiming to be the subjects of the photograph. Listed in the October 1980 issue as claiming to be the woman were Greta Friedman and Barbara Sokol as well as Edith Shain.[citation needed]

On June 20, 2010, Shain died at age 91, following a battle with liver cancer.[7] In April 2012 the issue of who the woman was remained as a new book on the topic was about to be released. The authors, George Galdorisi and Lawrence Verria, stated that Shain could not have been the woman because her height of just four feet ten inches was insufficient in comparison with the height of any of the men claiming to be the sailor.[8]

Those claiming to be the sailor were Donald Bonsack, John Edmonson, Wallace C. Fowler, Clarence “Bud” Harding, Walker Irving, James Kearney, Marvin Kingsburg, Arthur Leask, George Mendonça, Jack Russell, and Bill Swicegood.[9]

George Mendonça of Newport, Rhode Island, was identified by a team of volunteers from the Naval War College in August 2005 as “the kisser”. His claim was based on matching his scars and tattoos to scars and tattoos in the photograph.[6] They made their determination after much study including photographic analysis by the Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories (MERL) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, who were able to match scars and tattoo spotted by photograph experts, and the testimony of Richard M. Benson, a photograph analysis expert, professor of photographic studies, plus the former Dean of the School of Arts at Yale University. Mr Benson has stated that, “It is therefore my opinion, based upon a reasonable degree of certainty, that George Mendonça is the sailor in Mr. Eisenstaedt’s famous photograph.”[6]

Mendonça, on leave from the USS The Sullivans (DD-537), was watching a movie with his future wife, Rita,[6] at Radio City Music Hall when the doors opened and people started screaming the war was over. George and Rita joined the partying on the street, but when they couldn’t get into the packed bars decided to walk down the street. It was then that George saw a woman in a white dress walk by and took her into his arms and kissed her, “I had quite a few drinks that day and I considered her one of the troops—she was a nurse.”[6] In one of the four pictures that Eisenstaedt took, Mendonça claims that Rita is visible in the background behind the kissing couple.[6]

In 1987, George Mendonça filed a lawsuit against Time Inc. in Rhode Island state court, alleging that he was the sailor in the photograph and that both Time and Lifehad violated his right of publicity by using the photograph without his permission. After Time Inc. removed the case to federal court, Mendonça survived a motion to dismiss.[10]

Although the issue of who the kissers were/are was no longer contended in a court of law, it continues to this day.

Life’s October 1980 issue did not include Glenn McDuffie or Carl Muscarello, who are described below.[11] These claims have been made much more recently.

Mendonça and Friedman (both individually and together), as well as Shain, Muscarello and McDuffie, were widely interviewed in the succeeding years by Life, PBS, NBC, CBS and others. The life stories of Mendonça and Friedman, and how they came to be in Times Square that day, as well as the reasons they are considered most likely to be the ones photographed, are the subject of a detailed book on the photo.[12] Mendonça recognizes Friedman to the exclusion of any other woman as the “nurse” he kissed in the photographs (or, to be precise, the woman in the white uniform, as Friedman was a dental assistant—a nurse’s uniform was customary in a dentist’s office to be worn by female assistants and hygienists in that era).[13]

Carl Muscarello is a retired police officer with the New York City Police Department, now living in Plantation, Florida. In 1995, he claimed to be the kissing sailor. He claimed that he was in Times Square on August 14, 1945, and that he kissed numerous women. A distinctive birthmark on his hand enabled his mother to identify him as the subject. Edith Shain initially said she believed Muscarello’s claim to be the sailor and even dated after their brief reunion. But in 2005, Shain was much less certain, telling the New York Times, “I can’t say he isn’t. I just can’t say he is. There is no way to tell.”[14] Muscarello has described his condition on August 14, 1945 as being quite drunk[15] and having no clear memory of his actions in the square, stating that his mother claimed he was the man after seeing the photograph and he came to believe it.[16]

Glenn McDuffie laid claim in 2007 and was supported by Houston Police Department forensic artist Lois Gibson.[17] Gibson’s forensic analysis compared the Eisenstaedt photographs with current-day photographs of McDuffie, analyzing key facial features identical on both sets. She measured his ears, facial bones, hairline, wrist, knuckles, and hand, and compared those to enlargements of Eisenstaedt’s picture.

“I could tell just in general that yes, it’s him,” said Gibson, a 25-year department veteran. “But I wanted to be able to tell other people so I replicated the pose.”[18] In the August 14, 2007 issue of AM New York McDuffie said he passed five polygraph tests confirming his claim to be the man.[19] He says that on that day he was on the subway to Brooklyn to visit his girlfriend, Ardith Bloomfield.[19] He came out of the subway at Times Square, where people were celebrating in the streets. Excited that his brother, who was being held by the Japanese as a prisoner of war, would be released, McDuffie began hollering and jumping up and down. A nurse saw him, and opened her arms to him. In apparent conflict with Eisenstaedt’s recollections of the event, McDuffie said he ran over to her and kissed her for a long time so that Eisenstaedt could take the photograph:

I went over there and kissed her and saw a man running at us…I thought it was a jealous husband or boyfriend coming to poke me in the eyes. I looked up and saw he was taking the picture and I kissed her as long as took for him to take it.[20] Gibson also analyzed photographs of other men who have claimed to be the sailor, including Muscarello and Mendonça, reporting that neither man’s facial bones or other features match those of the sailor in the photograph. On August 3, 2008, Glenn McDuffie was recognized for his 81st birthday as the “Kissing Sailor” during theseventh-inning stretch of the Houston Astros and New York Mets game at Minute Maid Park.[citation needed] McDuffie died on March 14, 2014.[21]

As part of a WW II memorial at Battleship Cove in Fall River, Massachusetts, a new painting titled “Victory Kiss” by Jim Laurier of New Hampshire was first unveiled on August 24, 2013 to honor the event captured in the photo. George Mendonça was in attendance for the unveiling, stating that just before he kissed the nurse, he had been in New York City’s Radio City Music Hall.[22]

The photograph in popular culture[edit] In 2005, John Seward Johnson II displayed a bronze life-size sculpture, Unconditional Surrender, at an August 14, 2005 sixtieth-anniversary reenactment at Times Square of the event made famous in Eisenstaedt’s photograph. His statue was featured in a ceremony that included Carl Muscarello and Edith Shain, holding a copy of the famous photograph, as participants.[23] Johnson also sculpted 25 feet (7.6 m)-tall versions in plastic and aluminum, which have been displayed in several cities, including San Diego (right) and Sarasota.[24][25][26]

In the 2009 film, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, a life-size blow-up of the photograph plays an important role when characters Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) and Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams) escape pursuers by jumping into it and emerging in a monochrome 1945 Times Square, and losing a cell phone, which catches the attention of one of the background sailors, Joey Motorola, played by actor Jay Baruchel. Then Ben Stiller cut in on the sailor for a kiss with the nurse, played by actress Alberta Mayne before jumping out of the photo.[citation needed]

The picture is referenced – albeit showing a different camera – in the 2009 film Watchmen, which depicts alternate history versions of iconic moments in American history. During the opening credits, The Silhouette, a costumed heroine, kisses a female nurse.

In the 2010 film, Letters to Juliet, the Eisenstaedt photograph is featured in a scene where an editor of the New Yorker questions Sophie about her fact-checking (her job there) of the image as if it would be published in that magazine as a full-page feature. He questions her closely about whether the photograph was staged and most importantly whether it truly was “spontaneous and romantic.” Sophie gives him several pieces of information obtained from a sailor in the background of the photograph. She assures the editor that all of these facts were thoroughly checked and found to be correct, so he need have no concern.

The kiss was parodied in the The Simpsons episode, “Bart the General”. As celebrations ensue following victory for Bart in a battle against the school bully, a young boy dressed as a sailor kisses Lisa as a photograph is taken. After the photograph is taken, Lisa rebukes the boy, telling him to ‘knock it off’ and slapping him in the face.[citation needed]

In 2012, while performing a show for the Marines during the New York City Fleet Week, singer Katy Perry kissed a man on stage, replicating the pose.[27]

In the 2012 film Men in Black III, Will Smith views The Kiss occurring while time traveling after his fall from the skyscraper.

Fawn’s musical endeavors began at the age of 6 with classical piano lessons, continuing on throughout her adolescents.  At 19, Fawn attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA where she received a merit scholarship for excellence in music, graduating with honors earning two degrees – a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting.  Continually playing at local coffee houses, parties, and pubs, Fawn discovered her true calling in life.

After college, her spare time was spent writing, while she worked for 2 years at PriceWaterhouse Coopers in New York City.  But an artist at heart, she resigned from the corporate life and set out in pursuit of her dream…”Scrambled Reflections” was released on October 31, 2007 while Fawn was still at PwC.  Her second album, “Take Two”, was released in 2009 with songs like “Calling” and “Seamless” garnering her the most attention and “Santa’s a Dick”, released in 2011, the most laughs.

Currently, Fawn plays weekly at the New York City’s iconic music club, The Bitter End, the city’s oldest rock club, essential for launching the careers of many legends including Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, Carol King and most recently Lady Gaga – not a bad place for a budding singer-songwriter to hang their hat.  Fawn has appeared multiple times on the country wide talk show, The Vinny Vella Show, and has been the featured artist in magazine’s such as Dejonde Magazine’s Valentines edition and PopimpressiveKA. Fawn has performed live on radio shows such as The Debra Manso Show.

Fawn’s modeling career has skyrocketed in the past year.  She is a well known Marilyn Monroe model in New York City and parts of France.  Recently, Fawn is in the works of landing a modeling campaign for Daniel’s Jewelers, a high end Jewelery store located in the heart of Manhattan’s Diamond District.

Currently working on her 3rd LP, with award winning producers, such as Rob Fraboni (Producer of the soundtrack to Martin Scorsese’s film “The Last Waltz” and Producer for the timeless band, The Rolling Stones) and Richie Corsello (Producer for Sonny Rolands).  Fawn is also writing musical scores for TV and Film with the well known songwriter, Askold Buk.  Additionally, Fawn continues to put out singles with Karen Thornton, The Mtp Music Group and Stefan Moessle, Secret Sounds Inc.  Fawn was also a front runner for the famous food chain’s, Bareburger’s, jingle search.  Fawn is excited to put her new material to work.

One of the world’s most famous, beloved and highly respected cantors, Joseph Malovany has served as the Cantor of New York’s prestigious Fifth Avenue Synagogue since 1973. He holds the academic position of Distinguished Professor of Liturgical Music at Yeshiva University. He also holds the position of Dean of the J.D.C. Moscow Academy of Jewish Music. Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, he served as Cantor at Tel Aviv’s “Bilu” synagogue, as Cantor of the Israeli Army and at synagogues in Johannesburg, South Africa and London, England. Joseph Malovany is the holder of the highest artistic diplomas from the Music Academy in Tel Aviv and From Great Britain’s Royal Academy of Music. He is also a “Fellow” of the Trinity College of Music and has been awarded with many citations and honors from various national and international organizations; among them is the Tel Aviv University’s Award for “Tolerance and Understanding.” He is Honorary President of the Cantorial Council of America and Past Chairman of the Board of the American Society for Jewish Music. In 1997, the Joseph Malovany Chair for Advanced Studies in Jewish Liturgical Music was established, by New York’s Yeshiva University at its Belz School of Jewish Music. He is the founder and President of the World Jewish Music Foundation, dedicated to “Understanding, Tolerance, Religious Freedom and Human Rights –Via music.”  In 2002, Cantor Malovany was appointed Honorary Chief Cantor of the City of Vilnius, Lithuania.

In late August 2010, at a ceremony in the prestigious Riga Opera House just preceding his monumental and memorable concert, the title of “honorary chief cantor of the city of Riga” and its Great Synagogue was bestowed on Cantor Malovany.   His penetration into the hearts and minds of the people of the Baltics was recognized by the government of Lithuania which issued a special commemorative coin in his honor.  In 2002, Cantor Malovany was appointed Honorary Chief Cantor of the City of Vilnius, Lithuania.  Previously, Cantor Malovany received the Cross of Merit – Commander of the Legion of Honor, from the President of the Republic of Poland, an honor that is equivalent to knighthood.  He also received a “Gold Record” from “Yuval,” Israel’s premiere ensemble of Jewish music, for his contribution to the “World of Jewish Music and the Cantorial Art.” He is the recipient of the prestigious 2007 “International Award for Tolerance” given by the government of Poland in conjunction with “UNESCO’s Day of Tolerance”.  In December 2009 Yeshiva University awarded Cantor Malovany with an honorary degree: Doctor of Humane Letters- Honoris Causa.  Cantor Malovany is the first cantor ever to receive an honorary doctorate from Yeshiva University.

Joseph Malovany has performed many times as soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.  As tenor in Noam Sheriff’s monumental symphony, “Mechaye Hametim” (He Who Revives the Dead), he sang in its premiere with the Israel Philharmonic in Amsterdam in the presence of H.M. Queen Beatrix of Holland.  The piece was also performed throughout Europe and Israel with Joseph Malovany as the tenor soloist in each performance.  In January 1998 he was the soloist in Philadelphia at the American premiere of this symphony, with the combined orchestra consisting of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Zubin Mehta.  Over 20,000 people attended this event which officially opened the American year-long celebrations commemorating Israel’s Fiftieth Anniversary.  In May, 1998, he again performed with the Israel Philharmonic at the memorable concert in Yad-Vashem’s Warsaw Ghetto Square in Jerusalem.  He sang to thunderous ovation a Jewish High Holiday prayer at the concluding session of the United Nations International Summit Conference of Religious Leaders for World Peace.

Joseph Malovany possesses a brilliant spinto tenor voice, described by the London Guardian as “most powerful, beautiful and expressive spinto technique…sturdy and heroic” and by the Swedish newspaper Goteborgs Posten as “Judaism’s Jussi Bjorling”. Leonard Bernstein, after hearing him over the Jewish High Holy Days, expressed his hope to hear Cantor Malovany “sing beyond the Altar.” Although he turned down invitations to sing major operatic rolls on the opera stage, Joseph Malovany performs oratorio and symphonic works which require the tenor voice as soloist.  His powerful voice has been received with acclaim in Opera Houses, Concert Halls and Synagogues across the world.  He has toured extensively in Europe, South America, the United States and Israel.  He has sung with many international orchestras including the Israel Philharmonic, The Russian State Symphony, The Moscow Symphony Orchestra, The St. Petersburg Radio Symphony, The Belgium Radio Symphony, The Mexico Symphony, the London Classical, the New York Symphony, the Hungarian State Orchestra and the Romanian Radio and Television Orchestras.  He has also appeared with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bucharest Opera Orchestra, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Symphony Orchestra, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra.  His international appearances also include billings with the Haifa Symphony, the Metropolitan Orchestra, and the Arthur Rubenstein Philharmonic Orchestra in Lodz, Poland, the Wieniawski Philharmonic Orchestra, the Warsaw Chamber Orchestra, the Wroclaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the Brooklyn Philharmonic, the Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, and the Israel Chamber Orchestra.

Joseph Malovany, as a representative of world Jewry, has performed at Join Sessions of Congress in the Capitol Rotunda in Washington DC and at many major events on behalf of the State of Israel.  He has toured extensively Russia and the former Soviet Union with concerts in Moscow, St. Petersburg – Tallinn Estornia, Tashkent – Uzbekistan, Vilnius – Lithuania and other centers.  The year 2005 saw Cantor Malovany sing in two of the most historic events of our time.  On January 27th he chanted the memorial prayer for the victims of the Holocaust commemorating the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau at an outdoor ceremony in Auschwitz attended by all European Heads of State, including royalties, presidents, prime ministers, etc.  In May he sang in Berlin, Germany a program of liturgical music accompanied by the German-Polish Youth Symphony Orchestra at the ceremony to inaugurate the monument for the Holocaust in that city.  He also preformed the memorial prayer at the Warsaw ghetto uprising’s 65^th anniversary in front of the monument attended in Warsaw streets by one million people.

He has performed at Tel Aviv’s Mann Auditorium, Jerusalem’s National Building, Amsterdam’s Royal Opera House, London’s Royal Festival and Queen Elizabeth Halls and Barbican Center, Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher and Alice Tully Halls in New York, the Core State Center in Philadelphia and Brussels Palace of Fine Arts.  He also sang in Paris’s music center “Cite de la Musique” in La Villete and the “UNESCO” Hall in Paris, the Gotteborg Philharmonic Hall in Sweden.  His Eastern European performances have been staged at Moscow’s famed Tchaikowsky Hall and the Bolshoi Hall of the Conservatory of Music, Budapest’s Philharmonic and Vigado Halls, the Bucharest Opera House, Warsaw’s Philharmonic Hall and The Royal Palace, the Vilnius Opera House and its Fiharmonia Hall, Riga, Latvia’s Opera House, the Prague Rudolfinum Hall and the Prague Castle, the Oslo Philharmonic Hall and Copenhagen’s Tivoli Hall.  He also sang in the famed synagogues in Szeged and the “Dohany” in Budapest, Hungary – the Pilszan synagogue in Bohemia and in the “Temple” synagogue of Krakow, Poland, and the Opera House of Skopje, Macedonia with its Philharmonic Orchestra.  Joseph Malovany has concertized extensively with performances at Sao Paulo’s Teatro Cultura Artistica, the Herodion Amphitheater near Bethlehem.  His performances in Spain include appearances in Toledo and in the opera house of Santander.

Consistent with his deep musicianship, Joseph Malovany is called upon to premiere contemporary works.  He sang at the premiere of Israeli composer Andre Hajdu’s cantata “Tz’ror Hachayim” (The Cycle of Life) in New York, Miami and Tel Aviv, and in 1997, Joseph Malovany performed the tenor role in the premieres of Jan Radzinski’s “Shirat Ma’ayan” (The Song of the Well) and Anatoljus Senderovas’s “Sh’ma Yisrael” (Here O’ Israel).  In July of the same year he performed in the premier of his own musical composition to the text of Israel’s Declaration of Independence in honor it its fiftieth anniversary that took place in the Knesset (Israel’s Parliament).  In May 2010 Joseph Malovany was the featured soloist in the performance of the internationally famous Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki’s Oratorio “Kaddish” conducted by the composer, at the rededication of the Great Synagogue “White Stork” in Wroclaw, Poland.

For many years, Joseph Malovany has sung the Holocaust memorial prayers at the central New York commemorations at Madison Square Garden, attended by the President and Vice President of the United States and the Prime Minister of Israel.  His heartfelt memorial prayer was chanted at the memorial service for Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin at the Carnegie Hall in New York.

Joseph Malovany has produced more then 15 compact disks and DVD’s of his performances throughout the world.  His hundreds of TV, radio, newspapers and magazines performances and interviews have served to enhance his unique and distinguished reputation as a world authority and a profound exponent and spokesman of his profession and calling.

This tall, statuesque and genuine cantor and singer, brings much dignity, beauty and warmth with his rare quality, crystal-like tenor voice.  World leading music critics have hailed his performances as “thrilling”, “profoundly moving”, “unmatched”, “spellbound”, and “warmth with consummate artistry”.  One commentator in a local newspaper described Joseph Malovany as “The Jewish Court Singer of New York” and a Toronto newspaper called him “The Pavarotti of the synagogue.”
