NBA player Lamar Odom discusses his ibogaine treatment; “he has recovered a sense of choice, even during tough life moments like losing his ‘best man’ (Kobe Bryant), and in other situations that would have previously been triggers for him to return to drugs. “Just as fast as I say cocaine,” Lamar reflects, “the thought of it leaves my mind.” This interview is a testament to Odom’s recovery, which he attributes to ibogaine, to will, and to God, and serves as inspiration to others facing personal challenges. “Now I just wanna try to use my story to help people, because if I could get through that… I know they could; it shouldn’t take 12 strokes and 6 heart attacks for anybody else to get through it.”

Conor McGregor, MMA Champion, “ Ibogaine save my life and my family.” 11/25/2025.

Currently, active clinical trials are being conducted in Norway, Canada, and the UK. The Ibogaine Clinical Research Act is seeking a global alliance for the clinical trial and drug supply chain security through Access for Benefit Sharing – IP model.

* Iboga is a rainforest perennial shrub (Voacanga iboga), from which IBOGAINE is derived, native to Central Africa. A member of the Apocynaceae family, indigenous to Gabon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the Republic of the Congo, it is cultivated across Central Africa for its medicinal and other effects. KRFI has identified central and South American cultivars for indigenous collective production under Access for Benefit Sharing and IP registration for the local PPP framework, and In-country coordination for the Ministry of Health Mental Health Program and UNCED.

** We request that the New York State Senate and Assembly introduce and pass a bipartisan bill authorizing by January 2026:
– Allocation of NYS $12 Bn Opioid Settlement Funds for OASIS Commission for Opioid Abatement for FDA-approved Ibogaine trials “An Ibogaine Clinical Research Bill”
– Establishment of the Mental Health Security Hyperledger Security (1) Access for Benefit Sharing – Intellectual Property Rights (ABS-IP) for a PPP framework for secure clinical and supply chain data on the hyperledger dashboard

– State adoption of the Natural Medicine Health Act for plant-based treatment research and veterans and indigenous tribes for health equity by the In-state Clinical Trial Management and Reporting partnership (CTMS-Reporting) for the first responders and practitioner training for pharmacovigilance (Drug – Drug interactions affecting our society) on entheogenic ibogaine and psychedelics

This bill would create a legal and financial framework for New York to lead national policy on breakthrough addiction treatments.

Emergency – A New Organic BOTANICAL MEDICINE “Short Recovery” Solution to Drug Addiction is Here

For Immediate Release:

New York, NY – The Knowledge Recovery Foundation Institute (KRFI) has been involved with a natural, botanical drug product derived from the bark of the Voacanga iboga plant *, known as ibogaine. To date, numerous European organizations and Stanford University have reported the use of IBOGAINE WITH GREAT SUCCESS.

Myung Hi Sonserai Lee, the founder of KRFI, states, * *

We have been working on this for 40 years, and we are excited to see New York pass a bipartisan bill,Senate Bill S1817, which requires the NYS Governor Hochul and Commissioner Cunningham of the NYS Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) and supports to encourage, aid, and facilitate clinical research into the use of ibogaine in drug treatment, opioid, and substance addiction. Send your petition signature and a letter requesting NYS Governor Hochul and Commissioner Cunningham of the NYS Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) to sign the bill by January 2026, to meet the NYS Senate and Assembly deadline.

Contact www.krfi.org/NYS Ibogaine Research Bill. Write to Governor.Hochul@exec.ny.gov, and Senator Rodriguez for (BiPartisan Bill A6210 and S1817) Write to: Chinazo.Cunningham@ny.gov

KRFI looks forward to the Governor of New York implementing the bill, which could potentially save many people from addiction to opioids and Substance Use conditions for recovery.

KRFI is part of a private-public sector partnership consortium for Americans for Ibogaine that supports the Texas State Government in passing a bipartisan bill that allocated $ 50 million to ibogaine clinical trials. KRFI, over the past 40 years, has developed Original Ibogaine extraction and formulation IPs with Access for Benefit Sharing of the IPs and the Royalty based private public sector partnership with Biodiversity + Carbon credits for partnering States/Countries that will immediately allow for U.S. trials to begin and is reaching out to a matching fund by Global Mental Health Security Fund for the NYS $300 million Ibogaine Clinical Research Bill.

Let’s bring everyone together to rally behind healing. Investors, wellness practitioners, advocates – Let’s help pass this bipartisan bill. To help proceed, here is a link for the supporting bill: Go to: https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2025/S1817

Additionally, KRFI is organizing a SUMMIT in New York on December 11 and 12, 2026. Topics to be included: www.krfi.org/NYS Ibogaine Research Bill petition

Support for Ibogaine has come from a private-public sector partnership, including grants and donations from the NYS Ibogaine Research Bill, as well as matching fund sponsors/investors, and consortium members for clinical trial alliances.

Bryan Hubbard (Financial Times) – Economic Case for Recovery Investment: “

Americans for Ibogaine unites clinicians, researchers, and advocates to promote science-based awareness and reduce stigma around ibogaine therapy. Through education, policy engagement, and community partnerships, we strive to expand safe and legal access to medically supervised care.”

George Soros – Philanthropy & Global Mental Health Finance

“I am deeply touched by your thoughtfulness and by the Questors: Global Mental Health Summit Committee’s recognition of my work in the field of mental health. Our work and actions have always been rooted in legality, transparency, and integrity. The truth will stand clear, revealing that my efforts have always been dedicated to the right cause and the greater good. The trust and support I have received over the years from individuals, organizations, and institutions like the Knowledge Recovery Institute serve as a foundation of credibility. Together, these relationships will continue to inspire confidence and foster unlimited growth in our shared mission to improve mental health worldwide.”

NBA player Stéphane Lasme has stated· “Beyond physical trauma, players grapple with anxiety and identity loss after their careers end. Ibogaine has been a ‘game-changer’ for mental health, helping players find a new perspective and reconnect with themselves.”

A NEW WAY TO MANAGE TYPE 2 DIABETES THAT ELIMINATES INSULIN INJECTIONS FOR MILLIONS OF AMERICANS
Diabetes management has taken a significant step forward following FDA clearance of the Omnipod 5 Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) System, for adults 18+ living with type 2 diabetes, making it the first and only AID system cleared for the treatment of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Over 30 million Americans live with type 2 diabetes in the United States, with approximately 6 million people who require insulin, of which 2.5 million are using multiple daily injections (MDI). Despite advances in medical therapy over the past 20 years, there has been no significant change in the percentage of adults with type 2 diabetes achieving recommended HbA1c targets.

This clearance is a FIRST in type 2 diabetes management as it:

replaces the exhausting daily routine of multiple daily injections (MDI) with a discreet, tubeless, waterproof5, and wearable “Pod” ― about half the size of a credit card ― which provides continuous insulin delivery for up to 3 days (72 hours)

proactively helps correct for highs ― and helps protect against lows ― both day and night

communicates with a compatible continuous glucose monitor (CGM)

automatically adjusts insulin delivery every 5 minutes using the CGM value and trend

has shown improvements in patient-reported diabetes related distress

Omnipod 5 is a first-of-its-kind, simplified and effective option for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, providing freedom from multiple daily injections.
Dr. Trang Ly, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Insulet Corporation, will be available to discuss the new automated insulin delivery system for type 2 diabetes and the profound patient impact.

Researchers have discovered how a cell surface protein called Aplp1 can play a role in spreading material responsible for Parkinson’s disease from cell-to-cell in the brain.

Promisingly, an FDA-approved cancer drug that targets another protein called Lag3 – which interacts with Aplp1 – blocks the spread in mice, suggesting a potential therapy may already exist.

In a new paper, an international team of scientists describes how the two proteins work together to help harmful alpha-synuclein protein clumps get into brain cells.

“Now that we know how Aplp1 and Lag3 interact, we have a new way of understanding how alpha-synuclein contributes to the disease progression of Parkinson’s disease,” says Xiaobo Mao, a neuroscientist from Johns Hopkins University in the US.

“Our findings also suggest that targeting this interaction with drugs could significantly slow the progression of Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases.”

More than 8.5 million people globally have Parkinson’s, the second most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer’s.

As a progressive movement disorder, it’s usually only diagnosed when symptoms show, which include tremors, stiffness, balance problems, speech difficulties, disturbed sleep patterns, and mental health issues. Currently incurable, the disease means patients may eventually struggle to walk or speak.

Parkinson’s symptoms mainly result from the death or impairment of dopamine-producing neurons in the brain’s substantia nigra, a region involved in fine motor control. This is thought to be caused by Lewy bodies, which are abnormal clumps of protein mostly consisting of misfolded alpha-synuclein that travel between neurons.

Alpha-synuclein typically maintains functional communication between neurons, but problems arise when it becomes misfolded and insoluble. That said, identifying whether this is a cause of Parkinson’s or a symptom is difficult.

Past studies on mice found Lag3 binds to alpha-synuclein proteins and spreads Parkinson’s disease pathology in neurons. While deleting Lag3 significantly impedes this process, it does not completely prevent it, indicating another protein was also implicated in neurons taking in misfolded alpha-synuclein.

“Our work previously demonstrated that Lag3 wasn’t the only cell surface protein that helped neurons absorb alpha-synuclein, so we turned to Aplp1 in our most recent experiments,” says Johns Hopkins neuroscientist Valina Dawson.

(Yasuyoshi Kimura)

The scientists conducted tests with genetically modified mice that were missing either Aplp1 or Lag3, or both. They found Aplp1 and Lag3 can each independently help brain cells absorb harmful alpha-synuclein, but together they significantly increase the uptake.

When mice were missing both Aplp1 and Lag3, 90 percent less of the harmful alpha-synuclein entered healthy brain cells, meaning a greater amount of the harmful protein clumps was blocked with both proteins missing compared with a deletion of just one.

The researchers gave normal mice the drug nivolumab/relatlimab, a melanoma medication that contains a Lag3 antibody, and found that it also stopped Aplp1 and Lag3 from interacting, again almost completely blocking the formation of disease-causing alpha-synuclein clumps in neurons.

“The anti-Lag3 antibody was successful in preventing further spread of alpha-synuclein seeds in the mouse models and exhibited better efficacy than Lag3-depletion because of Aplp1’s close association with Lag3,” says Ted Dawson, a neuroscientist at Johns Hopkins University.

The next step will be to test the Lag3 antibody on mouse models of Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s – where research has pointed to Lag3 as a target too.

The research has been published in Nature Communications.

The FDA Recently Approved a New Oral Treatment

There is now a new treatment option for the estimated 2 million people in the United States living with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis1,2,3 whose symptoms may make day-to-day life more challenging. For those that aren’t familiar with psoriasis, it is a widely prevalent, chronic, systemic immune-mediated disease.4

And up to 90% of patients with psoriasis have psoriasis vulgaris, also known as plaque psoriasis,5 which is characterized by distinct round or oval plaques typically covered by silvery-white scales.

One of the challenges that both doctors and patients face is that despite the availability of therapies, many people living with plaque psoriasis in the United States are untreated or undertreated.5,6

But good news has arrived. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has officially approved a new treatment for adults with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis who are candidates for systemic therapy or phototherapy.

Dr. April Armstrong, dermatologist and clinical investigator in one of the treatment’s trials and Associate Dean and Professor of Dermatology at the University of Southern California, alongside Leah M. Howard, J.D., President and CEO of the National Psoriasis Foundation, will discuss the impact of psoriasis and a new, FDA-approved oral treatment for moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. *

***September is National Cholesterol Education Month***

Sometimes people must face the toughest opponents in life —and for approximately 30 million Americans with known heart disease, bad cholesterol is a formidable challenger. 1-3

Lowering bad cholesterol and keeping it low takes a solid game plan. With September marking the kick-off of the football season and National Cholesterol Education Month, it’s the perfect time for people to check in with their doctor to make sure they have all the right plays to manage their bad cholesterol.

The most common type of heart disease, called known heart disease, is caused by consistent high levels of bad cholesterol (LDL-C), fats and other substances in the blood, that leads to the buildup of plaque on the walls of the arteries.4 This buildup can lead to major cardiac events, like a heart attack or stroke, and blockages in the arteries causing chest pain.4 That’s why it’s important for people with known heart disease to lower bad cholesterol and keep it low; yet even with what may seem to be the best game plan, only 20 percent of people with known heart disease who take statins to lower their bad cholesterol achieve their recommended cholesterol goal.1

Tactics to defeat a tough opponent need to be constantly assessed and adjusted to help ensure success – and the same is true for managing bad cholesterol. While you can’t control factors like genetics or age, there are still ways you can find success with the right lifestyle modifications and working with your doctor the find the right treatment plan.

Dr. Boone, President, CEO, and Medical Director of the Boone Heart Institute to discuss what plays your viewers or listeners should incorporate into their game plan to help maintain their heart health this National Cholesterol Education Month and beyond. He will talk about the importance of cholesterol management, ways to lower it, and have details about a first of its kind treatment approved by the FDA to lower bad cholesterol.

Like most moms, Laura McLinn had plans for her son’s future, hoping to help him fulfill his dreams. But when Jordan was almost four years old, he was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a progressive disease which causes muscles to slowly waste away. The diagnosis was a complete shock to his family, but his mom quickly realized that this was their journey, and they were going to make every day the best day ever going forward.

And that’s exactly what they’ve done. After researching potential treatment options Jordan and his family decided to enroll him into a clinical trial for a new treatment for patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The family had so much hope that this could help their son.

Now, Jordan and his family are celebrating the success he’s had in the clinical trial for the treatment which was received Accelerated Approval by the FDA for Duchenne patients who have a specific mutation like Jordan. His mom says it’s been incredible to watch all the positive changes he’s been experiencing, during the four years since he’s been receiving the treatment. Jordan who is now 12-years old, says he tries to make every day the best day ever.

Jordan is one of an estimated 10,000 boys in the U.S. with this rare disease. Early signs of Duchenne include delayed ability to sit, stand or walk. Patients face increasing loss of mobility and by adolescence many require the use of a wheelchair. In teenage years patients begin experiencing problems with heart and lung function that leads to serious, life-threatening complications.

Laura McLinn talks about her son Jordan’s journey and how she and her family approach every day and never gave up hope. She’ll also discuss how she has become an advocate for helping others with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and will offer advice to other parents about options available that can help.

At a time when deaths from drug overdoses are on the rise, there’s a new effort to help keep people from getting hooked on prescription opioids in the first place.
The CDC released data reporting that more than 93,000 people died from drug overdoses in 2020, which is an almost 30 percent increase from 2019.
[In advance of Pain Awareness Month in September] Here now to talk about the role non-opioid options can play in the surgical setting to help prevent opioid addiction before it starts, is orthopedic surgeon from Orthopaedic Associates in Houston, Texas Dr. Alan Rechter (“Rek-ter”).

zynrelef.com (http://zynrelef.com)

As we are approaching Pain Awareness Month in September, it is a time to highlight the issues of postoperative pain and postoperative pain management in the United States. Recent data shows that 67% of patients filled an opioid prescription between 30 days before through 14 days after surgery. In the past, postoperative pain management has been a one-size-fits all approach and there is an urgent need for it to be more individualized.
While patients routinely are searching for a safe and effective way to manage the pain they experience following surgery, many tell doctors they want to avoid the adverse effects that are commonly experienced by those receiving opioids to reduce their pain. The most common adverse effects are dizziness, nausea and constipation. But even more than that, patients want to avoid any risk of misuse and addiction.
Now there’s been a new development; what some surgeons are calling a “game-changer” for postoperative pain. The FDA recently approved a treatment that works on both inflammation and pain at the surgical site for up to 3 days for those who undergo bunion surgery, hernia repair and total knee replacement surgeries. Clinical trials have shown that this new treatment reduces the need for and can eliminate in many patients, potentially addictive opioids. The safety and efficacy of this new treatment has not been established in highly vascular surgeries, such as intrathoracic, large multilevel spinal, and head and neck procedures. The new treatment also contains an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), a type of medicine which:

can increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke that can lead to death. This risk increases with higher doses and longer use of an NSAID.

cannot be used during heart bypass surgery.

can increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and tears.

Dr. Alan Rechter, an orthopedic surgeon, will be available to discuss the newest method of effectively managing postoperative pain. He will explain why this latest development is such an important step in helping patients who are undergoing a variety of procedures.
Important Safety Information
ZYNRELEF contains an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), a type of medicine which:
• can increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke that can lead to death. This risk increases with higher doses and longer use of an NSAID.
• cannot be used during heart bypass surgery.
• can increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and tears.

ZYNRELEF should also not be used:
• if you are allergic to any components of ZYNRELEF, aspirin or other NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen or naproxen), or have had an asthma attack, hives, or other allergic reaction after taking any of these medicines.
• as a paracervical block, during childbirth.

The most common side effects of ZYNRELEF are constipation, vomiting, and headache.

The medicines in ZYNRELEF (a local anesthetic and an NSAID) can affect the nervous and cardiovascular system; may cause liver or kidney problems; may reduce the effects of some blood pressure medicines; should be avoided if you have severe heart failure; may cause a rare blood disorder, or life-threatening skin or allergic reactions; may harm your unborn baby if received at 20 weeks of pregnancy or later; and may cause low red blood cells (anemia).
Tell your healthcare provider about all your medical conditions and about all the medicines you take including prescription or over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, or herbal supplements to discuss if ZYNRELEF is right for you

Summer Break Takes on New Meaning as Students
Transition to In-Person Learning

The 2020-21 school year of laptop learning and at-home schooling brought major changes and challenges for parents and their children, especially children with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). So, what happens after the kids power off, say goodbye to virtual school, and take a summer break?

http://qelbree.com/

In the past, parents often considered giving their children with ADHD a “medication vacation” during holidays or time off from school, reasoning that without schoolwork to focus on, medication was not necessary. Especially for children whose ADHD was managed with stimulant medication, time off from school presented an opportunity to take a break from the use of a controlled substance, and limit the associated side effects.

This year, the uncharted territory and uncertainty of what comes next can be stressful. And for children with ADHD, this unfamiliar ground can add to the challenges they typically face. Maintaining treatment may help children to enjoy summer activities, while also preventing the complications that may be associated with stopping and restarting treatment in preparation for the back-to-school transition.

ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood, typically diagnosed in early childhood, on average, at the age of 7. These children may struggle with controlling impulsive behaviors, have difficulty paying attention, and may be overly active.

Dr. Theresa R. Cerulli is a neuropsychiatrist who specializes in ADHD and has spent the last 20 years on the frontlines with families struggling with the disorder. In addition to her private practice and position on staff at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Dr. Cerulli is mom to a daughter with ADHD. She can share her professional and personal experience on how to help children begin the transition to in-person activities, prepare for full-day classes in the fall, and answer questions about ADHD treatments, including one recently approved by the FDA.
