Expert Available to Comment on New Survey Findings Identifying the Highly Complex Struggle to Conceive & Its Deep Emotional Implications for Individuals & Couples

New national survey indicates that struggling to get pregnant can be a serious blow to the self-esteem of both women and men:

Seven in 10 (71 percent) women said they feel flawed

Half of men (50 percent) said they feel inadequate

Infertility also has a big impact on a couples relationship — half (53 percent) say they find themselves trying to hide their feelings from their partner and one in five couples (22 percent) has considered splitting up as a result of the stress associated with trying to conceive.

A psychologist and fertility expert, Alice D. Domar, Ph.D., is available for interviews to discuss the survey results.

Dr. Domar is executive director, The Domar Center for Mind/Body Health, assistant professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School, and a senior staff psychologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
