Tomorrow at 11:00 AM, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams will join the Korean Dry Cleaners Association of New York (KDCA) to donate articles of collected clothing from all five boroughs to New York City’s Department of Homeless Services (DHS). DHS Assistant Commissioner Lisa Black will be on hand to accept over 2,000 pieces of unclaimed clothing collected by KDCA members. The donated clothing will be distributed throughout Brooklyn and New York City to help the homeless stay warm this winter.

According to Empowerment Expert Jen Groover, it’s important to teach children to express gratitude at a young age, as gratitude is a powerful emotion that will help them find peace in trying times as they get older. Gratitude also teaches kids resiliency, which is one of the key components needed for success and happiness. Your viewers can help their kids appreciate all that they have with Jen Groover’s 5 Ways to Give Your Kid an Attitude of Gratitude:

• Give your child a gratitude journal. Encourage them to spend ten minutes each day writing or drawing about the people and things they are grateful for.

• Give thanks together. At the dinner table, have everyone share what they are grateful for. Both kids and adults can write cards for or draw pictures of the people and things they are grateful for. Hang them up to remind you kids of all they have to be thankful for throughout the holiday season.

• Create a gratitude ritual. Set a time each day, whether at the dinner table or in bed, when you and your children can reflect on the day together and share all the little things they were thankful for that day.

• Be a gratitude role model. Gratitude isn’t just for kids – Set an example by saying “please” and “thank you,” sharing generously, praising your children when they express gratitude, and showing how grateful you are for what you have when interacting with your children.

• Make a gratitude board. Help your kids to create a visual manifestation of their gratitude, such as a vision board or collage of the people and things they are thankful to have in their lives.

• Share the gift of giving. Help your kids to bake and decorate cookies or set aside gently used toys they no longer play with. Together, take a trip to donate them to those less fortunate and let your children experience how good it feels to bring joy to others.
