“United Voices 4 Peace and the United Nations Symphony Orchestra (UNSRC) have partnered to bring to life the “Global Women in Music” initiative.

On the occasion of the International Women’s Day 2023 and in the margins to the Conference of the Status of Women (CSW 67), the “Global Women in Music” is the first, one of a kind concert by the United Nations Orchestra – exceptionally conducted by Maestra Anoa Green – performing a full program featuring pieces of female composers to advance gender equality. The concert will feature 8 pieces from contemporary composers from around the world (Argentina, Iran, Ukraine, China, to name a few), one from Louise Farrenc (France) and Florence Price (USA) to honor their legacy.

Only five percent of the concert music scheduled around the world is from women composers, an astounding statistic. Our unique program aims to bring female composers and conductors to the forefront and spotlight their music and talent to raise awareness, motivate engagement, activism and change towards a more inclusive music industry and social environment.

“None of us like stress, but it’s all around, even for students who should be focusing on their studies,” explains David Florence, professor and founder of The Oxford Method, a community that offers tutoring services around the country. “However, students can finish strong, and feel prepared for the next school year. We are helping students to do that daily.”
With school being a source of stress for many students, it’s helpful to take measures to reduce it in the classroom.

Here are some ways to reduce stress in the classroom:
• Help teach students to be prepared and up to speed academically. Doing this will include making sure they have the information they need so they feel well prepared, ensuring that they understand the materials, and getting them assistance when and if it’s needed. For example, some students may benefit from additional tutoring, which will help them with better understanding the material and being prepared.
• Find ways to create a relaxing learning environment. This can be done by choosing to have a positive attitude, teaching students about mindfulness and breathing exercises, and having a calm corner.
• Let students know that they can approach the teacher and other adults at the school if they have issues or questions, or need help. If they feel they have to figure everything out on their own, it will be more stressful. Knowing they can get additional help and have those they can turn to will help bring about ease.
• Encourage students to adopt healthy living habits. This includes focusing on getting enough sleep each night, eating healthy foods, getting exercise, and not engaging in activities that may bring more stress into their life, such as skipping classes or vaping in the restroom.
• Discuss stress with students and teach them ways that they can help to address it. In giving them healthy ways to reduce stress, there can also be a “check the stress at the door” policy, so that students enter the classroom leaving all the stress baggage at the door.
“Many students are stressed out because they need additional help, clarification, and a better educational foundation,” added Florence. “While teachers work on reducing the stress in the classroom, we help many students with gaining skills so they understand the materials better and don’t fall behind. The work we do with students is great at helping stress dissolve and students to become more confident.”

The Oxford Method is a community that helps students gain skills, clarity, and confidence. The community focuses on providing a full range of tutoring services on a wide variety of subjects and for all types of students. It has educational professionals available to help with all types of issues that need to be addressed with students.
The Oxford Method has over 100 tutors around the country, covering all subject areas. It offers online tutoring, as well as in-person and in-classroom options. Its tutoring services are available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The Oxford Method works with its nonprofit, Social Actualization, Inc., by giving it 10% of all profits. The funds are used to provide free computers, high-speed internet, and instruction to underprivileged families in urban and rural America. Plus, 40% of the instructors are PhDs, 40% have a master’s degree, and 20% have only a bachelor’s degree.

Who knew this destiny would stem from a semester studying Renaissance Art in
Florence, Italy in 2007. Michael spent the semester in Florence coming to
appreciate the art, history and culture, but most of all, the food.
Something that would set him on a path to become the entrepreneur he had
always imagined himself to be. While living in Florence, Michael, as most
others visiting and living in Florence, came to love Antico Noè, going as
far as eating there at least three times a week. Truth is, so did a lot of
visitors before him. The difference is, it stayed with Michael from the
moment he left Italy.
Also during his time in Florence, Michael would befriend his now business
partner Vinny Dautaj, who worked at a local restaurant in Florence. As fate
continued to play its hand, Vinny would go on to marry an American girl,
move to New York and reconnect with Michael. Monthly catch-ups often turned
into discussions of dreams and goals. The two of them, both itching to do
more, kept coming back to the incredible business and following of Antico
Noè and how nothing in NYC compares. The two formed a strategy for Vinny’s
next trip home to Florence where he would recite a well rehearsed pitch to
convince the owners of Antico Noè to let the duo replicate their
authenticity in the US.

After months of discussions, the two, utilizing their respective backgrounds
in corporate finance and restaurant operations, convinced the Italian owners
to expand the brand to the U.S. under their control. To ensure consistent
quality and an adherence to tradition and taste, the US-based team studied
and trained at the Florence location learning the various secret bread and
sauce recipes, as well as coming to understand the magic of the little
“sandwich shop” in order to replicate and offer an authentic panini
experience.

Géza von Habsburg-Lothringen studied at the Universities of Fribourg and Bern (Switzerland), Munich and Florence and has a Ph.D. in History of Art and Archeology. He was Chairman of Christie’s in Switzerland and in Europe for 18 years; taught at the New York School of Design; at the Bard Graduate Center for the Decorative Art; at New York University; and lectured for a decade at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He published 15 books on the History of Collecting, Russian Art and Fabergé, and organized five international exhibitions attracting over 2 million visitors.

At present he serves as Visiting Professor at Shijitsu University, Okayama (Japan); Fabergé Guest Curator at the Virginia Museum of Art, where he wrote the catalogue of its collection of Russian Art and organized the exhibition “Fabergé Revealed”; and Curatorial Director of the Fabergé Company. As President of the International Friends of the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, he speaks regularly on Habsburg family history, artistic patronage and collecting.

He is President of the International Friends of the Budapest Museum of Applied Art; Advisory Board Member of the Hermitage Foundation; of the Fabergé Museum in St. Petersburg; and Board Member of the Friends of Dresden.
