The New York Shoe Expo brings together retailers, brands, designers, buyers and sellers four times a year – all right here in New York City.

Giving back is a huge part of our mission at FFANY. FFANY unites the industry in charity by rallying footwear leaders around important causes including, in particular, breast cancer research.

Growing an industry takes more than just business opportunities. At FFANY, we understand the need to strengthen the industry through education. From scholarships and workshops to e-learning courses, FFANY is paving the way for a new generation for footwear professionals.

Similar to TOMS’ model, for every pair purchased, Brethren donates a pair to someone experiencing homelessness in America. But unlike TOMS, or any other buy-one give-one company, Brethren keeps their customers in the loop on their donations with a confirmation email that informs them on the homeless shelter and its location to which the shoes were delivered. They also post their monthly deliveries on their website (https://brethrenshoes.com/blogs/news). This particular story is my absolute favorite (https://brethrenshoes.com/blogs/news/didnt-know-shoes-could-do-this). Lastly (and this is the main reason why I felt compelled to reach out), Brethren set up a lofty goal of donating 2.2M pairs of shoes annually by 2022, which will provide 3 pairs of new shoes a year to every homeless person in the US (currently there are over 700K homeless people in the country). The reason for this goal is because 66% of the US homeless population are suffering from painful foot conditions due to ill-fitting shoes. Brethren’s mission is to gift healthy feet to those in need.
