The Army Civil Affairs Regiment helps military commanders and staff work with local authorities and populations while also assisting and supporting the civil administration of a unit’s area of operations. This month the Army Reserve is saluting Soldiers in honor of the Civil Affairs Regiment’s 68th anniversary.

Established on August 17, 1955, the Civil Affairs Regiment has served as the “eyes and ears” to foreign military and civil organizations. These Soldiers engage and partner with communities around the world, to increase stability, enable local governments, and improve quality of life for civilians.

This regiment’s work extends beyond humanitarian assistance as Civil Affairs Soldiers are the Special Operations community’s warrior-diplomats. As persuasive and diplomatic negotiators, Civil Affairs Soldiers work on the ground to ensure the U.S. interests are on the table and have a strong position when bargaining with foreign governments. They also protect civilians and reduce the root causes of instability around the world.

Before moving to the US Trui worked for more than 20 years at Belgium’s leading lifestyle weekly Knack Weekend, as a journalist and later editor in chief. She was also the inaugural editor of “Nest”, a country living monthly.

Russia expelled Dutch correspondent Tom Vennink

Tom Vennink, the correspondent for Dutch daily de Volkskrant based in Moscow, was informed by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs on November 1 that both his residence permit and visa would be revoked, citing “administrative violations.”

New York, NY – The Law Offices of Evangeline M. The USCIS Immigrant Investor Program (also known as the “EB-5 Program”) was established by Congress in 1990 to stimulate the U.S. economy through job creation and capital investment by foreign investors. Under the EB-5 Program, foreign investors can obtain lawful permanent residency (also known as a “green card”) through either a direct investment or investment through a USCIS designated Regional Center. In either instance, the requirements are essentially the same—investment of $1 million in a new commercial enterprise that creates or preserves at least 10 full-time jobs for qualifying U.S. workers within 2 years of the grant of conditional permanent residency. If the new commercial enterprise is located in a Targeted Employment Area (high unemployment or rural area), the qualifying investment is $500,000.
