Against extraordinary odds, they escaped Nazi slaughter, transforming from young innocents raised in closely knit families to courageous resistance fighters.

History

In 1958, New York’s Governor, Averell Harriman, conducted the Opening Day Ceremonies for a new ski area called Greek Peak. The Governor called it a “first class development” and predicted that it would “make a real contribution to skiing in New York State.”

By 1960, two T-Bars had been built and construction began on the A-Frame Lodge. A young Al Kryger (the current President and Chief Executive Officer of Peak Resorts, Inc.) was commissioned to build Central New York’s first chairlift in 1962. Greek Peak recognized the potential for skiing and led the industry in developing the concept of packaging and selling to local schools and colleges. This philosophy, combined with early pioneering in snowmaking and night skiing, brought Greek Peak to the forefront of ski areas in the East.

In the early 1970s, Al Kryger had the foresight to begin planning for the next phase of Greek Peak’s growth. He was instrumental in acquiring land adjacent to the ski area, and a Master Plan for a new recreational community was drawn. Over the years, the development of slope-side condominiums and townhouses has transformed Greek Peak from a ski area into a full-fledged regional destination ski resort.

Recent Study Shows One In Four American Workers Will Suffer An Income-interrupting Disability and Won’t Be Prepared For it

More than one in four of today’s entrants to America’s workforce will suffer an income-interrupting disability at some point during their working careers. But a recent Council for Disability Awareness (CDA) study shows that despite the potentially catastrophic financial impact, most Americans, and even their financial advisors, significantly underestimate their odds of becoming disabled. Worse yet, about two-thirds of the workforce is not covered by private long term disability insurance.

In an effort to engage Americans about the critical importance of protecting their ability to earn an income, the CDA has launched the Defend Your Income movement. This educational program seeks to unite consumers, advisors, employers and insurers in the fight to protect the incomes of working Americans from the financial risks of serious illness or injury.

In interviews on November 13th, Barry Lundquist will give tips on the risks and consequences of experiencing an income limiting sickness or accident, and how to protect your most valuable financial resource – your income.

Barry Lundquist’s professional background includes over 30 years of insurance industry success in underwriting, sales, sales leadership, senior executive management and consulting roles for employee benefits and individual disability products and sales channels at Paul Revere, Provident and Unum. In 2000, Barry founded Eastport Marketing Group, a consulting and marketing services company that helps insurance companies and distributors improve results. Since May of 2009, Barry has served as President of the Council for Disability awareness, based in Portland, Maine.
