Paris, May 30, 2025 – Responding to the call of the Israeli, Palestinian, and global populations for lasting peace in the Middle East, the Paris Peace Forum is hosting a civil society mobilization event for the two-state solution, peace, and regional security in Paris on June 13, 2025. Entitled “Paris Call for the Two-State Solution, Peace and Regional Security,” the event will be held at the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) under the high patronage of Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic. This key meeting will take place a few days ahead of the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Resolution of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, which will be held from June 17 to 20, 2025, at the United Nations in New York.

This event will bring together several hundred civil society actors committed to the implementation of the two-state solution and a shared future based on mutual recognition, peace, and security for all. At a time when the region is plagued by extreme violence, terrorism, hatred, and injustice, and when the two-state solution faces existential threats, participants—mostly Israelis and Palestinians, but also from the Middle East, Europe, and the United States—will highlight the need for decisive action. They will stress the urgency of an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and the unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid commensurate with the needs of the people of Gaza.

On June 13 in Paris, these organizations and civil society figures will put their expertise and experience at the service of concrete solutions for the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of a viable Palestinian state, offering security guarantees for all, and for advancing regional integration. In addition to contributing to the work of the eight thematic working groups of the High-Level International Conference on June 17-20, the civil society actors gathered in large numbers on this occasion will launch a call to action to the international community reflecting their commitment to peace and security for all.

This Paris Call will reinforce the action of France and the European Union, which are committed to peace in the Middle East, which cannot be achieved without the implementation of the two-state solution. The conference organized by the Paris Peace Forum aims to support this objective by providing a platform for the concrete expression of civil societies committed to the two-state solution, regional peace, and security.

Television Interviews with Presenters and Key Participants
for local Television Stations
This is a private event, produced by the International Sustainable Resilience Center (SDRC), is not open to the public. We are offering live interviews to local television stations in each city during this unique, international event, featuring working sessions with the United Nations International Public Private Partnership Center of Excellence (ICoE) and twelve regional organizations that work with Louisiana businesses involved in larger public projects around the state, along with eight specialist centers working under the direction of the ICoE, including centers from Portugal, Spain, France, Lebanon, Hong Kong, Beijing, and Tokyo, who will hold sessions together in bringing knowledge of “people first” public private partnerships to enhance resilience and provide for robust infrastructure in Louisiana.
We will have an experienced broadcast crew at the event that will be recording interviews. Your station can simply provide a reporter and we will give you a copy of the interview when it is completed. If you wish, you can set up a remote broadcast in front of the venue to provide additional coverage.

THE WHO
The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe International Public Private Partnership Center of Excellence (ICoE) and its’ affiliated Specialist Center for Disaster Resilience and Recovery, the International Sustainable Resilience Center (ISRC) are coproducing a first of its kind ever event in Louisiana. ISRC is one of eight specialist centers of excellence that will be convening in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lake Charles from March 2nd to 6th, 2020. ISRC, headquartered in New Orleans, will welcome centers based in Portugal, Spain, France, Lebanon, Hong Kong, Beijing, and Tokyo who will hold sessions together in bringing knowledge of “people first” public private partnerships to enhance resilience and provide for robust infrastructure in Louisiana.
These centers have realized that the value of their work could be leveraged by acting together and have chosen Louisiana as the location for a pilot project that can be replicated worldwide. The ICoE , a unit of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe division of Economic Cooperation and trade will also attend, and will be represented by its chief Geoffrey Hamilton and Chief Tony Bonnici. Both have committed to assist Louisiana in any way possible regarding trade and foreign direct investment as well.
THE WHAT
This spring thought leaders from all around the globe will gather in three key Louisiana cities to make connections and brainstorm ways to improve our state’s ability to enter into public private partnerships that will work for everyone.
Co-produced by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the International Sustainable Resilience Center based in New Orleans, this first-of-its-kind ever event will feature experts from France, Spain, Portugal, Lebanon, Hong Kong, China, Japan, and the U.S.
Sessions will center around “people first” public private partnerships in the following areas, with all focusing on the overriding importance of resilience:

• Smart, Sustainable Cities

The Django Reinhardt NY Festival launched in 2000 at Birdland is in it’s 18th year. Out of the Festival came the top players, The Django Festival Allstars, who tour 2X a year and always spend a week at their home in the US, BIRDLAND. On the road, to standing ovations, they play top venues -Hollywood Bowl, San Francisco Jazz Festival, Kennedy Center, Montreal Jazz Festival and much more with original music in the style and Django favorites. This past summer at the Playboy Jazz Festival at the Bowl, critic Scott Yanow wrote “highpoint of the entire festival” !

Dad, DORADO SCHMITT, started performing in NY in 2002 when SAMSON was 21 and AMATI 5, all grown up now and together on the Birdland stage for the first time. It’s a family dynasty of enormous talent that comes from the soul of gypsy life where music is God, joined by virtuoso accordionist LUDOVIC BEIER and Grappelli protégé, PIERRE BLANCHARD, on Violin. They will put you on the edge of your seats with joy, smiles, shock you with their hot #’s and break your heart with a ballad, joined by gypsy cousin, Francko Mehrstein, on rhythm guitar and Gino Roman on Bass.

Special guests include the young great saxist Grace Kelly on Nov. 7, 8, and 11 and top swinging clarinetist Ken Peploski on Nov. 9 and 10. For a change of pace, newcomer Chris Smith will be on drums on Nov. 12th.

The music harkens back to the 30’s and 40’s in France to the Hot Club Quintette of Django and Grappelli, romantic days in ‘ol Paris with swing music in the dance halls and streets while campfires lit up the sky on the outskirts of Paris with gypsy life. Music and family was and still is King ! Hot Jazz has more than survived, is vibrant and causing a sensation all over the country.

The musicians will again be on tour as well (see schedule below) and at their NY home, Birdland Nov. 7-12 before returning home to Paris and gypsy community Forbach, France, near Germany. It’s real, it’s romantic, it’s exciting…let your heart lead the way. The Festival was co-founded by Maestro Ettore Stratta.

DORADO SCHMITT and his young son AMATI return to the US to tour with ‘5’ concerts at the San Francisco Jazz Festival, The Kennedy Center, NJPAC James Moody Jazz Festival, and more, winding up at their home BIRDLAND November 17-22. Birdland launched the Festival in 2000 , now in its 16th successful year! The Festival has been produced by Pat Philips & Ettore Stratta.

Over the years, a top Jazz band in the style of Django has evolved onstage at Birdland at the Django Reinhardt NY Festival. It carries on the legacy of legendary gypsy guitarist DJANGO REINHARDT in a contemporary style holding on to the joy, hot sounds, and romance of the music inspired by America’s standard repertoire and great musicians such as Duke Ellington, harking back to the 20’s and 30’s in France bringing “Le Hot Jazz” to today where we call it “Hip Hot Jazz”.
AMATI Schmitt was a young boy, 3 years old at the time Dorado started coming to the Festival, now at 19, he is a seasoned player in his own right. DORADO Schmitt, gypsy guitar star and leader, passed on the tradition of Django’s style, as is done in gypsy life from generation to generation, as his Dad did with him teaching guitar and violin. They come from Forbach, France, a gypsy community near Germany where music and family is the center of life.

Over the years, the Producers Pat Philips and Ettore Stratta brought others to the stage joining the Schmitts such as Ludovic Beier , accordionist and accordina musician, and Pierre Blanchard, violinist…DouDou Cuillerier, rhythm guitarist and mean scat singer….henceforth the evolution of this spectacular band many years in the making along with Xavier Nikq on bass (Brian Torff is bassist in the summer). The band is in demand across the country for major tours 2X a year .

There will be a special piece dedicated to the life and tremendous talent and career of Maestro Ettore Stratta, co-founder of the Festival, partner and beloved husband of Pat Philips (Stratta).

USCIS Will Host Naturalization Ceremonies to Honor Veterans and their Families

WASHINGTON—Veterans, service members and military spouses across the country will become U.S. citizens this week as they take the Oath of Allegiance at special Veterans Day naturalization ceremonies. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will highlight the sacrifices that military members and their families have made while serving our country. From Nov. 7-13, USCIS will welcome more than 10,000 new citizens in nearly 130 naturalization ceremonies across the country and around the world. Of those being naturalized, more than 255 are veterans, service members and military spouses.

Many current and former military members and their families are eligible for citizenship, including expedited screening and overseas processing, under special provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act. Since Oct. 1, 2001, when data collection on military naturalizations began, more than 109,000 service members have become U.S. citizens, including individuals serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, South Korea, Germany, Japan and elsewhere. In 2015 alone, USCIS hosted nearly 175 naturalization ceremonies at military installations in the U.S. and abroad.

“On Veterans Day, we salute the men and women who have so courageously served our country and defended the freedoms that it was built upon. Among our brave veterans are thousands of immigrants, many of whom vowed to defend their new home even before they were citizens,” USCIS Director León Rodríguez said. “It is because of their extraordinary sacrifices, and those of their families, that we can enjoy the rights and liberties of living in this great country.”

USCIS has a robust military outreach program that provides information about immigration and naturalization to service members and veterans at military installations, Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals, universities and various military organizations. USCIS also has offices on multiple military installations, including Fort Benning, Georgia; Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; and Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. These offices identify recruits who may be eligible for naturalization.

USCIS’ Veterans Day activities this year will feature a naturalization ceremony at the USS Torsk and USS Constellation, located at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland, on Nov. 11. During this event, Dan Renaud, USCIS associate director for the Field Operations Directorate, will administer the Oath of Allegiance, and Sgt. Maj. Mercy A. Diez of the U.S. Army Band will be recognized as an Outstanding American by Choice.

Other ceremonies include events at:
· American Heroes Air Show in Orlando, Florida, on Nov. 7.
· Cullman Performance Hall of Tryon Palace in New Bern, North Carolina, on Nov. 11.
· Joint Base Lewis McChord in Seattle, Washington, on Nov. 13.

In addition, 12 recruits will become new citizens at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California, through the Naturalization at Basic Training Initiative. Developed with the Department of Defense, this program allows enlisted service members to complete the naturalization process during basic training.

USCIS invites new citizens, and their families and friends, to share their experiences from the ceremonies through Twitter and other social media using the hashtag #newUScitizen.
