Barbara Gaughen-Muller’s, author of the upcoming book Revolutionary Conversations, late husband Robert Muller was the man who chartered this increasingly important day. In 1983, Robert served as Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and helped charter Pathways to Peace in an effort to create a better world. Pathways to Peace was granted Peace Messenger Initiative status by the UN Secretary-General Perez de Cuellar, and by 1984, over 52 countries responded to PTP’s invitation to participate in the annual peace-building initiative. Today, participants from all over the world observe a moment of silence every September 21st, called “the moment of silence heard around the world.”

Barbara is looking to spread a message of peace and awareness of International Peace Day and can speak about:
• Robert Mueller’s legacy and how he helped create the United Nations International Day of Peace
• How our individual actions–both large and small– can contribute to a more peaceful world
• Ways we can find peace in our own personal lives and encourage others to do so as well
