Health disparities are defined as avoidable and unfair differences in the health of people or groups that negatively impact their quality of life and life expectancy. Research has shown that clear disparities exist in relation to HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, mental health, and COVID-19.

Now a new report conducted by Economist Impact explores the opportunities that could be created by eliminating health disparities over the next 20 years, while charting a bold course for unified action. Some key findings in the report include:
• Disparities in care are avoidable, unfair, and cost us all
• Addressing inequities must be an urgent moral, social, and economic priority
• Various organizations must contribute to the pursuit of health equity
• Systems are slow to promote equity because they are often incentivized not to

The next steps to achieve health equity by 2040 include the following recommended actions:
1. Restructuring the health system to incentivize prevention for both physical and mental health
2. Reimagining investment beyond the upfront cost, towards longer term investments
3. Making practical changes that improve collaboration
4. Improving knowledge of how to best reach certain populations

The report concludes that inaction can be as powerful as action. It shows that to eliminate health disparities, key groups at a community and system level must work together to improve health equity.

Dr. Keith Rawlings, M.D., Senior Medical Director of ViiV Healthcare, will be available to discuss the impact of health inequities in your local community and how they are negatively impacting particular groups, including Black, Latinx, and minority ethnic groups. He will also talk about the new roadmap to eliminating these disparities, particularly as it relates to the HIV epidemic.

NYC is the greatest city in the world, not because of the food, the skyscrapers, the entertainment, etc… IT’S BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE. We forget how special and beautiful this world is until you stand in the heart of NYC and at that moment you realize in one place, people from around the world from every race, religion, gender, sexual preference, young, old, rich, poor, etc.. are doing one thing; celebrating life without the fear of being afraid of who they are with the drive that know matter where they are from in the world #IamNYC , because NYC is the world.

This concert/movement has been created not because of a tragedy, but to try to prevent future ones. A concert not to happen just once, but a movement to take around the world to promote L’s Up (a symbol of peace and hope to let everyone know you are an equal of this earth)
A movement that unites all charities and all movements for one goal, to get one step closer to that Utopia.

Humans have been at war with each other since the dawn of time and we are fighting battles and rules based on those from the past that mocked what they don’t understand. You have a choice, a human virtue that only you control.

Girls at a very young age are curious about science and math—about 74% of kindergarten girls want to go into STEM—but by the time they reach middle school, only 15-20% remain interested.

Scientist, author, and professor Cristal Glangchai, PhD, attributes this to the way educators, parents, and the media talk to girls about pursuing STEM careers. She argues that a key part of raising strong, confident young women is giving them the tools of entrepreneurship to engage in STEM.

Glangchai’s new book, VentureGirls: Raising Girls to be Tomorrow’s Leaders (HarperCollins; May 2018) explains what has kept young girls out of STEM fields, as well as the practical applications of STEM learning, and how we can address the gender imbalance therein.

Dr. Glangchai offers a unique solution based on her own experience as an engineer and entrepreneur as well as the founder of VentureLab, a nonprofit that empowers kids, especially girls, with an entrepreneurial mind-set. VentureGirls.

The seeds of Respect For All (RFA) were sown in the aftermath of 9/11, when the NYC DOE began a concerted citywide effort to promote respect for diversity and combat harassment, discrimination and bullying. This initiative provided professional development for K-12 school staff, as well as direct services to students. The goal of this work is to ensure that every NYC school provides a learning environment where all children feel safe, valued and respected,

This year, nearly three million young people will graduate from high schools across the United States. Many will continue their education, while others will begin pursuing careers. In both cases, they will be required to make many of their own decisions which will have financial implications and directly impact on their ability to become independent.

Junior Achievement’s and The Allstate Foundation’s annual Teens and Personal Finance Survey provides a snapshot of teens’ behaviors and attitudes around money management. It examines how teens view the importance of effective spending, saving and budgeting—and their opinions around how well they are executing those tasks. The key findings illustrate a teen population that is more optimistic now than in past years about its financial future, yet faces challenges related to effectively managing its money.

Jack Kosakowski, president and CEO of Junior Achievement, will discuss key findings of the survey along with tips for parents on how to make their teenagers smarter about personal finance.

OASIS Adaptive Sports, Inc.
