Dear All: Please keep an eye on the CBS Family Film & TV Awards, which will air on Saturday, December 20, from 8–9 PM across all U.S. time zones —New York: 8–9 PM; California: 8–9 PM; Central Time: 8–9 PM.

At a time when America feels divided, this program is becoming one of the few national broadcasts that genuinely spreads joy, family values, and positive energy, especially during the Christmas season when families gather at home. After acquiring the Golden Globes in 2024, CBS has poured its full strength into elevating this show.

This year’s host is Julie Chen Moonves, the well-known face of CBS This Morning and the hit show Big Brother. Her story has become part of American media history. Her husband, Les Moonves, was the CEO of CBS; in 2018, during the height of the MeToo movement, he resigned after several women publicly accused him. Julie took a short leave. When she returned to CBS This Morning three days later, she signed off the broadcast with a name she had never used on air before: Julie Chen Moonves—a silent but powerful gesture of loyalty to her family.

“Family is everything” is the signature line of the Family Film & TV Awards.

The modern revival of the show is a collective effort:

• David McKenzie, producer of the Hollywood Christmas Parade, led the reboot.
• Dr. Jeannie Yi brought in Chinese investment and created the new Sunbird logo — a symbol with the same spirit as the Phoenix.
• John Maatta, former COO/CFO of Warner Bros., whose approval once greenlit Gossip Girl, added governance and structure.
• Jeff Bogert safeguarded the show’s intellectual property and legal rights.

The program was originally created in 1996 by Olympia Gellini, produced by Dick Clark, and received blessings from President Bill Clinton.

Today, the Family Film & TV Awards returns as a celebration of hope, unity, and shared humanity — something the country deeply needs.

Over the last 50 years, McDonald’s and Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) have partnered to ensure that families can stay together during some of their most difficult times.

To mark the next chapter of the Gift to RMHC® celebration, 25 cents from every Shamrock Shake sold at participating restaurants will support local RMHC families. And, because this moment is all about keeping families together, McDonald’s is reuniting two beloved members of the McDonald’s family for the first time in decades.  

Everyone’s favorite purple bestie, Grimace, recently discovered his family’s original Shamrock Shake recipe, sparking a reunion with his uncle, Uncle O’Grimacey. Uncle O’Grimacey will be touring the country with shakes in hand, championing support for RMHC families.

Here is how fans can support RMHC:

• For every Shamrock Shake purchased from Feb. 10 to Mar. 23, McDonald’s franchisees will donate 25 cents to RMHC with a goal of raising $5 million, which could provide 50,000 overnight stays for families staying at RMHC programs.

• Purchase limited-edition Uncle O’Grimacey merch available for pre-sale beginning on Feb. 4 at goldenarchesunlimited.com, and in the spirit of this campaign, McDonald’s will make an additional donation to RMHC.

• Help support a charity near and dear to Uncle O’Grimacey and Grimace by giving a direct gift to Ronald McDonald House Charities or Round-Up for RMHC at your local McDonald’s.

Pianist Dr. Chen Wang “Journey to Love & Peace”

Young Global Leadership Foundation was proud to present pianist, DR. CHEN WANG’s, Journey to Love & Peace on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at 7:30pm to a full house at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall. This marked her New York Concert Debut which was met with great admiration and applause. The concert was sponsored by the Young Global Leadership Foundation with UN NGO ECOSOC Special Consultative Status, together with Michigan State University School of Music, Australian International Culture Industries Association, Global Stress Initiative, Global Corporate Social Responsibility Foundation, Global Wealth Elite Club, International Strategies Alliance & Good News Network, to name a few. The recital promoted awareness, advocacy & action for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) & launched the recital tour that Wang is performing this year.

Wang performed Lizst’s Liebestraume and Chinese classics from the Tang Dynasty with great passion and brilliance. TONY and Award Winning Broadway Producer of “Passing Strange”, Regional Theater and Film , Vasi Laurence states:

“In difficult life moments, music can be a way to express who you are and Chen excels in that. Her playing is powerful and compelling and transports you on a very visceral level from deep reflection and calm to feeling joyful and exultant. Chen’s versatility and choice of music by Franz Liszt illustrates her ability to play some of the most technically difficult music that has ever been composed for piano…and the inclusion of music from the Tang Dynasty (which was the Golden Age of culture and the arts) was beautiful and exquisite. Chen is a fascinating and unique pianist who mesmerized the audience for ninety minutes. During intermission a patron turned to me and said, “She has magic fingers. She is magnificent.” I am sure that we will see and hear more of Chen Wang on the global concert stage. Congresswoman Grace Meng issued her a certificate of Outstanding and Invaluable Service to the Community.

“The program Dr. Wang offered was important to note as it was at the top level in piano repertoire in terms of musicality and technical difficulty. The success of her performance can be attributed to Dr. Wang’s reputation as a promising and respected talent in piano performance. The extreme difficulty of the repertoire, which included Franz Liszt’s Soirées de Vienne, S.427, No. 6 (Valses caprices d’après Schubert), Three Petrach Sonnets from Années de pèlerinage, S.161, Second Year, and “La danza from Soirées musicales de Rossini, S. 424 gained the attention of music aficionados. Pianists must possess outstanding skills to execute the works of Liszt successfully. Dr. Wang met that challenge. Her extraordinary musical expression was truly effective in delivering the dramatic impact to the audience which warranted two standing ovations after the last piece finished.
Her musicianship was fine and profound, with strong and well controlled connections of all phrases. Her rare skills allow her to deliver music in ways others cannot and distinguishes her from other musicians.”

Chinese pianist Chen Wang began her piano studies at the age of five & was admitted to the middle school affiliated with Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing at the age of eleven. She continued her studies in the United States with famous pianists & educators including Deborah Moriarty, Panayis Lyras, Stephen Drury & William Heiles at the New England Conservatory, U niversity of Illinois at Urbana Champaign & Michigan State University. She holds a DMA in Piano Performance from Michigan State University.

In China, Chen was invited to be a spokesperson & guest pianist in the ninth World’s Children Call for Peace event in Beijing, together with over 100 institutions & children from more than 60 countries. In the US, Chen has given performances for the City of Boston, Omaha Summit at the 53 rd Warren Buffett Berkshire Hathaway Meeting & Massachusetts General Hospital. She received the Global Youth Leadership Award at the United Nations Headquarters Global Social Responsibility Summit in New York in 2018. This year, she gave solo piano performance at World First Metaverse Lantern Festival & North America Virtual Lunar New Year Gala. While working towards a double performance major in piano & percussion in the U.S. on a full scholarship, Chen discovered the interconnection between the two & developed her own performance style. Incorporating East Asian philosophy & western classical music, from Chinese poetry in the Tang Dynasty to Italian Renaissance literature, she explores the connections among nations, people & nature.

Chen Wang is Vice President of the Arts of Young Global Leadership Foundation (United Nations NGO ECOSOC Member), Vice Chairman & Guest Artist of Australian International Culture Industries Association & a member of expert committee of the China Association for Promoting Children’s Culture & Art. The Viennese Opera Ball hosted their Swing Dinner Dance Gala, “The Golden Age” at a private club in Manhattan. Due to the events of the past year, the gala was scaled down from previous years with limited capacity but was a great return of the extravagant affair. The Viennese Opera Ball is a nonprofit association under Section 501(c)(3) and celebrated under the auspices of the US Austrian Chamber of Commerce. The Gala Chair for the evening was philanthropist Jean Shafiroff. Each year, it supports charitable projects that are connected to communities in New York or Vienna. The proceeds of the Swing Dinner Dance benefited the Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research.

The Gala took place with the support of City of Vienna and the Honorary Gala Chair, Governor & Mayor of Vienna The Honorable Michael Ludwig, Consul General of Austria in New York The Honorable Helene Steinhaeusl, and the Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum New York Michael Haider.

Notable attendees included: President of the Viennese Opera Ball Silvia Frieser, event chair and philanthropist Jean Shafiroff, Consul General of Austria in New York The Honorable Helene Steinhaeusl, Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum New York Michael Haider, Hubert Heiss, Yoko Nakamura-Haider, Martin Shafiroff, Malan Breton, Scott Stone, Ana Stone, Eve Brookville, Sabine Riglos, Victoria Whipple, Paula Mahoney, Nelli Hantman, Imke Gerdes, Barbara Wennerholm, David Hochberg, Pamela O’Connor, Michele Herbert, Emily Mohr, Cole Rumbough, Sessa Von Richthofen, Richard Johnson.

The black-tie event was a change up to their traditional Opera Ball with the swing dance party theme. The music for the evening was provided by the Misha Piatigorsky Trio, with Misha Piatigorsky on piano, Benny Benack III singing and playing trumpet, Sergei Avanesov on Saxophone, and Singer Kennedy.

There was a silent auction during gala with proceeds also benefiting Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research.
