Like other hobbies and sports out there, playing golf can be engaging and addictive. The game promotes a physically fit body, enhances problem-solving skills, and encourages a healthy lifestyle. You can never go wrong with golf as your new sport.

However, golf also comes with several considerable investments players should indulge in. If you have just started feeling the golf club and plan to enjoy this game for a long time, you might want to check out some of the incredible gadgets that would accompany you through this new sports journey.

Rangefinder

This device is an easy and effective way to locate distant objects on the comprehensive golf course. This portable gadget that you can effortlessly carry around the fairway is accurate and precise in its measurements.

Using this will cut off a significant amount of time and save your energy by looking through yardage books and additional math games. A rangefinder also utilizes laser technology to determine distances and magnifiers for clearer sight on far reaches.

Golf Simulator

This equipment is a very innovative and helpful way to experience golf. Anyone can easily set it up inside the house. You can conveniently play golf using simulators with your family and friends without thinking about the condition of the weather outside.

The better choice for a golf simulator is the one by SkyTrak. This device comes with many features such as performance metrics, thousands of golf courses, video support, and many other helpful tasks. It has a pro-feel to it as it accurately gives your swing speed, launch angle, ball speed, among others. Its simulation is also at high-definition graphics for more immersive virtual gaming.

GPS Watch

GPS tracking watches are easy and interactive tools that will help you navigate golf courses. Many GPS watches specifically made for golfers have thousands of golf courses preloaded in the device’s operating system. This way, the maps are stress-free and convenient to use. As a handy device, some also have features that can record scores, so you don’t need to memorize them.

Swing Trainer

Having a proper swing is vital as it makes a good hit and prevents any accidents that can affect you and other people. Swing trainers mainly help in the improvement of your swing performance. This trainer will improve your grip and wrist positions, making handling easier to enhance the hit itself. It can also develop a constant swing speed to learn your swing tempo.

Fitness Watch

A fitness watch is not inherently only for golf players, but this is a very helpful gadget to have while playing.

These wearables serve as your monitor to keep your health in check. It comes with important measurements such as blood pressure, pulse rate, and oxygen level. The wristband, however, should be strong enough for harsh environments.

Final Words

Notable attendees included Ann Liguori, Correspondent, WFAN & CBS Sports Radio Network, Samuel Waxman, MD, Founder and CEO of the SWCRF, Gary Jacob, Executive Vice President of Glenwood Management, Robert Ivanhoe, Vice Chair of Greenberg Traurig and Co-Chair of the REIT Practice, Peter D’Arcy, Area Executive of M&T Bank Corp, Jeff Mann, owner of Mann Publications, and William T. Sullivan, Executive Director of the SWCRF.

Following a beautiful brisk and sunny day on the course, golfers gathered for an open-air reception and awards program. “This tournament was started several years ago, and it has helped to raise substantial funds for cancer research. Despite these challenging times, today is an example of the great good that can come when friends gather to support research that is critically needed. More importantly, you are supporting research committed to finding better treatments for cancer, the world’s leading cause of suffering and premature mortality,” Samuel Waxman, M.D., founder and CEO of the SWCRF.

The American Cancer Society predicts that 1.8 million Americans – or more than 4,900 every day – will receive a cancer diagnosis this year. In 2020, the SWCRF directed more than $2.2 million in donor-supported funds to fund a record 50 research scientists at some of the world’s leading research institutions. The SWCRF research programs address more than 14 types of cancer and require that those who receive research funding, collaborate with labs outside of their disciplines and institutions. This type of collaboration fosters cooperation and knowledge sharing across labs and disciplines to speed the development of promising therapies.

Gary Jacob co-chairs the SWCRF Golf Tournament host committee with Dennis Herman, the Chairman and CEO of Beekman International Center, Ltd. Mr. Jacob and Mr. Herman also are members of the SWCRF Board of Directors. The committee members are Jeff Mann, Jay Sullivan, Director of Business Development at Shannon River Partners, Dr. Samuel Waxman, and Ari Zagdanski of Kinsman Property Group. The tournament is the organization’s longest-running event that has raised millions for cancer research. During the past 43 years, the SWCRF awarded nearly $100 million to support the work of more than 200 researchers around the world. Gary Jacob and M&T Bank sponsored the Golf Tournament. Patron Sponsors were Capital One Commercial Banking and Ann Liguori. The Media Sponsor was Mann Publications.

A novel by Terry Jastrow

On a glorious autumn morning in Saint Andrews, Scotland, former US president George W. Bush approached the first tee of the world famous Old Course to play a round of golf he would not finish.

Unceremoniously abducted off the course by a team of paramilitary commandos, he was transported to the International Criminal Court in The Hague to stand trial for war crimes in connection with the Iraq War.

The ICC had spent one year accumulating evidence sufficient to indict George W. Bush as the single person most responsible for the war. Would he be found innocent or guilty, or would something happen that would disrupt the administration of justice?

for more about Terry, go to www.TerryJastrow.com

Anne recently made a guest appearance on the FOX comedy THE GRINDER … playing Dean and Stewart’s mom. Viewers will finally meet someone who couldn’t care less: the woman who gave birth to him.

According to the official character breakdown, Lenore Sanderson-Grant is Dean Sr.’s “adventurous and outspoken” ex-wife who in incredibly unimpressed by her son’s TV-star status. She remarried right after she and Dean Sr. divorced; meanwhile, he’s been single ever since.

“Pneumonia Vaccine”!

Subject: 60 sec PSAs-Features about Pneumonia Vaccine for 50+ and Older Adults
Age is a state of mind, except when it comes to your immune system. On behalf of Pfizer, an official with the American Lung Association, a former U.S. surgeon general, and golf professional Jim Furyk discuss how older adults should find out if they need to be vaccinated against “pneumococcal pneumonia”.

August is National Immunization Awareness Month, yet the features are evergreen.

Click these links to listen and download audio for use in your news, feature or PSA programming. Scripts are below.

http://radiospace.com/pfizer3.htm – Click on link to listen to them!

(In addition, Below is the SCRIPT if you would like to read it yourself for news!)

Let us know if and how you’re able to use these.

:60 Script for Dr. Edelman, American Lung Association
Age is a state-of-mind—except when it comes to your immune-system: Adults as young as 50 are at increased risk for serious infectious-diseases—like “pneumococcal pneumonia”—because of their aging immune-systems. A recent “Harris Poll”—conducted for the “American Lung Association” and “Pfizer”, of one-thousand U-S adults—found 85-percent of adults age-50 to -75 believe people their age are at risk for “pneumococcal pneumonia”. But, only half believe they’re personally at risk. Doctor Norm Edelman—senior scientific-advisor to the “Lung Association”…

“It’s estimated that a quarter-of-a-million Americans, over 50, are hospitalized, each year, with ‘pneumococcal pneumonia’—with an average hospital-stay of five days. Even otherwise-healthy and -active older-adults need to be aware of their increased risk—because of their aging immune-systems.”

If you’re 50 or older, talk to your doctor about your personal risk for “pneumococcal pneumonia”—and see if you’re up-to-date on your vaccinations. Learn more at “who-pneu”-dot-com; that’s “w-h-o-p-n-e-u”-dot-com. Brought to you by the “American Lung Association”, in partnership with “Pfizer”.

:60 Script for Dr. Regina Benjamin, former U.S. Surgeon General
Adults age-65-plus are at increased risk for vaccine-preventable diseases—like “pneumococcal pneumonia”—because our immune-systems weaken, as we age. Worse still, vaccination-rates among African-American adults are lagging—leaving them at greater risk for vaccine-preventable diseases, like flu, shingles, or “pneumococcal pneumonia”. Former Surgeon-General, Doctor Regina Benjamin, explains…

“African-Americans are more likely to suffer from certain chronic health-conditions—leaving us at increased risk for certain vaccine-preventable diseases. Despite this, far-fewer older African-Americans than their White counterparts report receiving preventive health-services—such as vaccinations. I urge all African-American adults age-65-plus to know their risks—and [to] think prevention: Maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle, wash your hands frequently, and talk to your doctor—to ensure that you’re up-to-date on all your vaccinations.”

This message was brought to you by “Pfizer”.

:60 Script for Jim Furyk, golf professional
Golf-professional, Jim Furyk [“fyur-ick”], has had his coach and father, Mike, by his side—throughout his impressive career. But, now that Mike’s getting older, Jim is encouraging him to be more proactive—when it comes to his health…

“I wouldn’t be near the golfer—or man—[that] I am today without my dad. And now, it’s time for me to coach him, about taking personal responsibility for his health. Just like overcoming the hazards along a golf-course, understanding your risk for potentially serious infectious-diseases—like ‘pneumococcal pneumonia’—can help you stay on-course.”

“Pneumococcal pneumonia” is a potentially serious and life-threatening illness. Even healthy adults over 65 are at increased risk—because our immune-system naturally weakens with age…

“Vaccines aren’t just for kids: As you and your parents age, consider the importance of adult-vaccination. And, if you’re 65 or older, speak with a doctor or pharmacist—to make sure [that] you’re up-to-date, on ‘C-D-C’-recommended vaccines.”

For more, visit “know-pneumonia”-dot-com; that’s “k-n-o-w-pneumonia”-dot-com. Sponsored by “Pfizer”.

In 1959 I started saving newspapers that had Yankees on the covers, and in 1969 I started a quest to get every major athletes autograph. I started with the NY Jets getting Joe Namath and branched out to getting my idol Mickey Mantle in the Yankee locker room, and trading pictures with his agent Roy True, to Muhammad Ali, who I became friends with and did a TNT SPECIAL with. My Jamaica High School education was highlighted by having my picture in the Daily News getting Mickey Mantle’s autograph as a senior. My 3 idols in sports were Muhammad Ali, Mickey Mantle and Dave DeBusschere. My college education at LaGuardia Community College, in 1973, as part of the 1st graduating class, provided me a scholarship to go on with my schooling at Queens College, where I graduated with Jerry Seinfeld. By befriending major athletes like Hank Aaron, Muhammad Ali, Mickey Mantle, Bill Bradley, Joe Namath, Wayne Gretzky, Joe Frazier, Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, Joe Dimaggio, and Thurman Munson, it provided me with a great collection. In order to afford my addiction I had to become a dealer and start selling my doubles at an early age in order to help support my parents who were much older and to pay for my college education, clothes, food, housing and transportation etc. Then I branched out and started the first sports auction in the world, in 1986, with Phillips and branched out to start my own company called Sports Auctions of NY. Sports Auctions of NY was around from 1987-92 Before the days of the internet I was appraising, auctioning, buying ,collecting, selling and trading sports memorabilia worldwide. I sold the only known copy of Josh Gibson’s contract, and when Lou Gehrig sued a newspaper for libel because they said ALS was contagious, I sold that document. I also sold a Lou Gehrig contract and check, along with quite a few mint autographed Babe Ruth baseballs. I used to take Dusty Baker, Ralph Garr and Bruce Bochy by train from the hotel to Shea Stadium and I am still friends with Dusty. My work has been with Miami Project, Tuesdays Children, MDA, MS, Make A Wish foundation, Ronald McDonald house, Stand on your feet Foot Locker, Arod’s charity and numerous other charities. We Provide celebrities for these events, whether they are dinners, golf outings, store appearances or corporate events, including simply just having an athlete call a child for an interview etc. I have worked with ESPN/Cox communications traveling the country appraising sports collectibles including authentic game worn jerseys, bats, rings, autographs, golf balls, and books. My business is to cater to the client whether it is a 6 year old child, teaching him how to collect and what to collect, to a Fortune 500 executive on how to preserve his valuable collection and store it. My goal is to try to help everyone I meet and pay it forward. Remember the collectible you save today will make someone smile tomorrow. Collectingly and sportingly yours, Les Les Wolff Worldwide Sports and Entertainment LLC.

Good News speaks to Andrea Stark, Public Relations Coordinator for The Ritz-Carlton at Half Moon Bay a few years ago, and the Good News it is still breath taking:). Set atop an ocean bluff, overlooking 50 miles of rugged California coastline, the AAA Five Diamond Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay is a magnificent 26l-room spa and golf resort. The property opened in spring 2001 and is the first luxury resort to open along the Northern California coast in over a decade. The timeless oceanfront estate provides guests with a relaxed yet refined experience, whether for a romantic getaway, meeting or special event. The resort opened spring 2001 and has earned the prestigious AAA Five Diamond Award for the tenth consecutive year.

Located a mere 30 minutes from the San Francisco International Airport and less than one hour from Silicon Valley and downtown San Francisco, The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay feels a world away. Featuring an exterior façade of natural cedar shingles, the design evokes memories of the grand seaside lodges of the 19th century with its signature Shingle Style architecture creating a regional “sense of place.” Epitomizing the relaxed elegance and high-tech features of the new generation of Ritz-Carlton properties, the resort’s interior includes hardwood floors, large stone fireplaces and floor-to-ceiling windows highlighting the spectacular ocean vistas.

The majority of the guestrooms and suites at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay offer panoramic ocean views, and most include comfortable window seats, inviting fireplaces, or spacious terraces. Appropriate for a hotel located between San Francisco and Silicon Valley, each room is equipped with high-tech features including wireless, high-speed Internet access and laptop accommodating safes. Adjacent to the main building are three cottage houses, offering an intimate setting for business retreats, weekend getaways or small groups. The Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge creates the feel of a “hotel within a hotel” and offers a dedicated concierge, and five complimentary food and beverage presentations throughout the day.

With more than 17,000-square-feet of meeting and event space, including a 7,100 square-foot ballroom, The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay is the perfect choice for everything from intimate gatherings of 10 to grand events for 400. Outdoor function areas offer spectacular views of the ocean and nearby Santa Cruz Mountains. Its convenient location makes the resort a most suitable choice.

Dining choices at the resort are exemplified at the nautically inspired Navio, which serves the finest coastal cuisine from a 1,000 square-foot display kitchen. The relaxed setting of The Conservatory Lounge offers a bistro menu throughout the day and The Wine Room contains over 5,000 bottles of international wines and includes sommelier-selected wine flights.

Situated between two Half Moon Bay Golf Links courses, the resort is tailor made for golfers. The Old Course’s 18th hole has been ranked among the 100 best in America and The Ocean Course offers ocean views from every hole. Resort guests enjoy full privileges at both courses.

A 16,000-square-foot Spa and Fitness Center offers a lavish setting to indulge in the co-ed Roman mineral bath and enjoy treatments such as the Pumpkin Body Peel, inspired by Half Moon Bay’s annual Pumpkin Festival. Other recreational attractions at the resort include a scenic coastal walking path leading to secluded beaches and picnic places, a tennis center, basketball half-court and patio area with outdoor fireplace. Nearby activities include horseback riding, deep-sea fishing, whale watching, sea kayaking, hiking, biking and antiquing.

The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay Launches New Pet-friendly Program at Coastal Resort

Resort’s New Pampered Pooch Program and Pet-Friendly Guesthouses welcome Guests with Pets

HALF MOON BAY, CALIF. – September 14, 2011 – As more and more hotel guests enjoy traveling with their best friends, their pets that is, The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay has created two new programs to welcome pets as guests. Pet-friendly guesthouses and the resort’s signature Pampered Pooch program make the resort one of the most pet-friendly in The Ritz-Carlton family. “Many of our guests live in and around the San Francisco Bay Area often driving to the resort, so it is easy for them to travel with their pets,” said Jay Heidenreich, Director of Sales & Marketing. “Now we’ve made pets as welcome at the resort as any of our guests.”

The resort has created newly-designated Guesthouses, which are specifically pet-friendly and located along the Coastal Trail. The Guesthouses are larger to accommodate an extra pet-guest and have easy access to the green lawns right outside. When pets check into the Guesthouses, a special amenity including bowls for food and water, a dog bed, a chew toy and woof or meow door-hanger sign to alert the housekeepers. A one-time cleaning fee of $95 is charged for each Guesthouse occupied by a pet. Dog waste bags are also set in stations near the Guesthouses and recommendations on nearby walking areas are provided to guests upon check-in.

In addition to the accommodations, the resort has launched a Pampered Pooch program which is an activity program for dogs. It’s not a babysitting, or a dog sitting service instead it is a time of activity and entertainment for dogs. Dog walking along the Coastal Trail, playing fetch with a tennis ball, as well as walking along the beach below the stunning coastal cliffs are activities dogs will enjoy. Body-brushing and grooming services are also all available.

For more information or to confirm your reservation, please contact your travel professional, visit www.ritzcarlton.com/hmb or call Ritz-Carlton worldwide reservations at (800) 241-3333.
Situated 23 miles southwest of the San Francisco International Airport, The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay is a 261-room destination spa and golf coastal hotel and the San Francisco Bay Area’s only oceanfront resort. Set atop a rugged bluff overlooking 50 miles of pristine California coastline, the timeless oceanfront estate provides guests with a relaxed yet refined experience, whether for a romantic getaway, meeting or special event.
