The National Center for Health Statistics estimates that 26%of Americans live with pain
more than the number of people with heart disease and cancer combined
More than 40% of teens believe that prescription drugs are much safer than illegal drugs

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, 26% of Americans live with pain, a serious and complex medical condition.1 While there are a number of effective prescription pain medications available, their increasing nonmedical useespecially among young adultsis having a major impact on healthcare professionals ability and/or willingness to treat pain.4-6

Dr Jeffrey Gudin will discuss this issue and the warning signs of misuse or abuse of pain medication. Dr Gudin is an anesthesiologist and Director of the Pain Management Center at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey, an affiliate of Mt. Sinai.
