The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection held its much anticipated Fashion Show on Wednesday, February 9, 2011, during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. This not-to-be-missed event was held for the first time atLincoln Center in New York City.The Heart Truth once again brought the Red Dress to life on the runway with the debut of the Red Dress Collection 2011 and opened Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week with its annual Red Dress Collection Fashion Show.

The Heart Truth is a national awareness campaign for women about heart disease sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). The centerpiece of The Heart Truth is the Red Dress, which was introduced as the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness in 2002 by NHLBI. The Red Dress reminds women of the need to protect their heart health and inspires them to take action.

 

Seeking to advance the Red Dress symbol, The Heart Truth forged a groundbreaking collaboration between the Federal government and the fashion industry, an industry intrinsically tied to female audiences. As a result of this partnership, fashion leadersincluding top designers, models, and celebritieshave demonstrated their support for the issue of women and heart disease by participating in The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection Fashion Shows at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week annually since 2003.

Celebrities scheduled to participate included Alison Sweeney, Ann Curry, Archie Panjabi, Audrina Patridge, Camila Alves, Cat Deeley, Dania Ramirez, Denise Richards, Dita Von Teese, Eva Amurri, Eve, Garcelle Beauvais, Gayle King, Giuliana Rancic, Julianne Hough, Katrina Bowden, Laila Ali, Linda Gray, Natasha Bedingfield, Patti LaBelle, Suzanne Somers and Taraji P. Henson.

Designers included Alberta Ferretti, Badgley Mischka, Catherine Malandrino, Carmen Marc Valvo, Chris Benz, Swarovski, David Meister, Donna Karan, Ina Soltani, J. Mendel, Kaufman Franco, Matthew Williamson, Monique Lhuillier, Naeem Khan, Notte by Marchesa, Nicole Miller, Oscar de la Renta, Pamella Roland, A Pea in the Pod, Tadashi Shoji, Zac Posen and Zang Toi.
