(New York, NY) — Renowned composer, pianist, and musical storyteller
Randy Edelman will return to Carnegie Hall on December 19, 2025, marking
his second headline performance at the world-famous venue. Following his
celebrated and critically praised appearance at Lincoln Center this past June,
Edelman now brings his cinematic mastery, signature sound, and holiday
spirit back to one of the most prestigious stages on the planet.

Edelman’s upcoming concert, Randy Edelman: A Celebration in Music, will
be an expansive journey through the melodies that have defined his legendary
career—film scores that have shaped generations, chart-topping hits that have
traveled the globe, and newly re-imagined compositions that continue to
showcase his inexhaustible brilliance. Known for his breathtaking themes
from Gettysburg, The Last of the Mohicans, Dragonheart, My Cousin Vinny,
27 Dresses, and dozens more, Edelman’s music has become the emotional
architecture of modern cinema.

His return to Carnegie Hall symbolizes both a milestone and a continuation.
Edelman first performed a solo concert at the Hall in 2023, delivering a night
that sold out and received national acclaim for its artistry, warmth, and
emotional depth. The December 19th performance builds upon that legacy,
offering fans and newcomers alike a night of musical storytelling just days
before the holidays—an evening designed to uplift, inspire, and ignite the
imagination.

Earlier this year, in June, Edelman took the stage at Lincoln Center, where he
delivered a dynamic, career-spanning concert that reaffirmed his status as one
of America’s most treasured melodic architects. The performance was hailed
for its majesty, humor, and heartfelt tributes, capturing the full scope of
Edelman’s influences and achievements.

Now, as he prepares to once again grace Carnegie Hall, Edelman promises a
performance that is both intimate and grand—a rare fusion only he can
deliver. The evening will include unforgettable film themes, beloved original
songs, new arrangements crafted exclusively for this concert, and special
moments that celebrate his profound relationship with New York City and its
audiences.

“There is nothing quite like playing Carnegie Hall,” Edelman has shared.
“The room itself sings back to you. It becomes part of the story.”

Tickets for Randy Edelman at Carnegie Hall — December 19, 2025 are
available through Carnegie Hall’s official box office and online ticketing
platforms.

About Randy Edelman:
Randy Edelman is an award-winning composer and recording artist whose
music has graced over 100 major motion pictures, television series, and
global events. His body of work spans decades and generations, earning him
some of the industry’s highest honors and a devoted worldwide fanbase. His
live performances are celebrated for their emotional resonance, wit, and the
magical way he connects with audiences through both music and storytelling.

Lester William Polsfuss, known as Les Paul (June 9, 1915 August 13, 2009) was an American musician and innovator and inventor. He was a pioneer in the development of the solid-body electric guitar which “made the sound of rock and roll possible”. He is credited with many recording innovations, including overdubbing (also known as sound on sound), delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording.

His innovative talents extended into his playing style, including licks, trills, chording sequences, fretting techniques and timing, which set him apart from his contemporaries and inspired many of the guitarists of the present day. He recorded with his wife Mary Ford in the 1950s and they sold millions of records.

Among his many honors, Paul is one of a handful of artists with a permanent, stand-alone exhibit in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame{enclose les_paul.mp4}

A father said to his son: “You graduated with honors, here is a car that I acquired many years ago … it is more than 50 years old.
“Before I give it to you, take it to the downtown used car lot and tell them I want to sell it and see how much they offer you.
The son went to the used car lot, returned to his father and said: “They offered me $ 1,000 because it looks very worn out.”
The father said, “Take it to the pawnshop.”
The son went to the pawnshop, returned to his father and said, “The pawnshop offered $ 100 because it was a very old car.”
The father next asked his son to take the car to a car club and show them the car.
The son took the car to the car club, returned and said to his father: “Some people in the club offered $ 100,000 for it since it is a Classic Mustang and highly sought after among the members of the club”
The father said to his son, “I wanted you to know that the right place values you the right way!”
If you are not valued, do not be angry, it means that you are in the wrong place. Those who know your value are those who appreciate you, and never stay in a place where no one sees your value!!”

“Dietrich” set for one-night only performance at The Triad
Solo play honors legendary performer, patriot and feminist Marlene Dietrich

New York (June 6, 2018) – “Dietrich,” a compelling solo play about iconic German actress Marlene Dietrich, will wow New York audiences in a special one-night performance at the Triad Theater June 22.

“Dietrich” will take the stage at 9:30 p.m. at The Triad, the celebrated and widely-known Off-Broadway theater located at 158 W. 72ndSt.

Tickets are $25. For tickets and more information, visit http://apps.vendini.com/u/73b311ea71 or call 212.279.4200.

Written by Willard Manus, directed by Judith Rose and starring Cindy Marinangel, “Dietrich” is a based on a true story. Set in May 1960, the play takes place when the actress returned to the Berlin stage for the first time since fleeing the Hitler regime in the 1930’s. Inside her dressing room at the Tatiana Palast Theater, Dietrich weighs whether to go through with the live performance despite threats on her life by Nazi sympathizers who resented her for having spent much of World War II entertaining American soldiers on the front lines. To them, Dietrich is a turncoat; a traitor who deserves to be shot and killed on stage.

“Dietrich” (formerly known as “Marlene”) celebrated its world premiere at the Brickhouse Theatre in Los Angeles and recently debuted in New York at the Hudson Guild Theatre as part of the New York Theatre Festival’s annual Winterfest.

Cindy Marinangel is a Lifetime Member of The Actors Studio and a graduate of the Chicago Second City Conservatory. Marinangel was recently seen in “Beverly Hills Christmas,” a holiday film starring actor Dean Cain that airs seasonally on UPtv.For more information, visit www.cindymarinangel.com.

Willard Manus is a playwright, journalist and novelist. He is a member of the playwrights/director’s unit of The Actors Studio. His most recent plays are “Joe and Marilyn: A Love Story,” “Frank and Ava” (now a motion picture) and “Who Killed Comrade Rabbit?”

Judith Rose is a member of Actors Equity, the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers as well as the playwrights/directors unit of The Actors Studio. She directed Ed Asner and Estelle Harris in “When One is Gone,” and Betty Garrett and Tess Harper in “Wendy and Me.” In 2017, Rose directed Broadway veteran Maybin Hewes in “Still Struttin’” and “Don & Me,” both one-woman musical shows

I haven’t been able to write about my father’s passing until now, as it’s been such a gut-wrenching personal loss for me and for his beloved homeland. But I felt on this Veterans Day weekend it was important to honor my dad, as his sheer survival exemplifies what it truly means to be an American and reveals the unwavering determination the human spirit has to prevail in the most dire of circumstances.

As the embassy dignitaries solemnly approached me to officially present my father’s medal, my eyes immediately filled with tears. They caringly placed one of his country’s highest honors, a beautiful gold Maltese Cross enameled in white, into the palm of my shaking hand. It was a profound and overwhelming moment that was — literally — decades in the making.

I slowly walked over to my father’s oak casket and gently placed the medal onto the flag that draped his coffin and likewise commemorated his courage, my hand lingering a moment as if to touch his heart one last time. The color guard raised their sabers in a dramatic salute as a sign of respect for the historic moment: My father had finally earned the recognition he deserved for the heroism he had exemplified almost seventy years earlier when he had nearly died fighting for the freedom of his country.

The long journey to this moment had begun when my father had desperately crawled through the dark and corpse-filled sewers of Warsaw, and had continued in a brutal Nazi POW camp, where my father, Ryszard Kossobudzki, sold the suit off his back for a loaf of bread.

At just thirteen years of age, he saw the German planes invade and decimate his country in September of 1939. Life changed forever in Poland, but my father’s steadfast patriotism did not. Although he was offered a chance to sneak out across the border after the fighting began, he did not leave. Instead, he voluntarily chose to stay and fight in the Warsaw Uprising of World War II, knowing the heavy odds were that he would die for his country. More than eighty percent of his citizen unit, virtually unarmed soldiers, did.

Young Kossobudzki was known by his comrades only by a code name which, when translated, meant “Mountain Lion.” He had chosen that name to remind himself that he had to run fast and sneak by the Nazis. And, like a cat, he had many lives, narrowly cheating death over and over. He was shot at, torn up by grenade shrapnel, and chased by a dive bomber which obliterated the building he ran to. But eventually he was seriously injured by a mortar shell that killed his comrade who was standing just a few feet away. When he left Warsaw in October 1944, the once vibrant city was smoldering rubble, by some estimates, a staggering eighty-five percent destroyed.

The young freedom fighter was held at gunpoint by the Nazis as they threw his near lifeless and bloodstained body onto a boxcar headed toward a German POW camp. As every bump of the steam locomotive made him wince in pain, all that mattered to this stalwart resistance warrior was to make sure he and his buddies made it through the next hour or day. Amazingly, it was around this time that he was nominated by his Commander for the esteemed Fighter’s Cross, the equivalent of the American Silver Star (something I discovered just a few years ago while researching and writing Quiet Hero, the bestselling book about my father). Ultimately, a daring escape from the POW camp led him to the safety of U.S. troops, who met my father — now weighing a mere ninety pounds on his six foot frame — with cheers and hugs on a small German riverbed. It was young American GIs who saved my father and told him he was finally free.

My dad faced his final battle in life with the same courage, grace, and dignity that he had displayed as a teen. When he shared with me recently that he had cancer, my heart broke. Hearing the fear and pain in my voice, he said to me, “Don’t worry — in the Uprising, five German units couldn’t get me, I’ll fight this with everything I have, too.” And he did.

He had choked up when I told him the Polish Consulate had learned, through documents that were hidden during the war, that he had been nominated in 1944 for the prestigious Fighter’s Cross. He humbly said all he cared about at the time was “not to have a wooden cross,” meaning killed in battle. Like so many veterans, he didn’t seek awards or accolades, he only cared about protecting his country and survival. Despite his incredible humility, I privately began diligently working on getting him the acknowledgements he greatly deserved. I felt it would not only recognize my father, but all of the unsung heroes of WWII.

Knowing time was of the essence, I remained determined and made a trip to Poland to press forward on this important process for my dad. Appropriately, on Memorial Day weekend this year, a Polish embassy official and the Defense Attaché came to my father’s hospital bed in the ICU unit and formally presented him with a beautiful gold medal from the Defense Minister. As they pinned that medal and the Fighter’s Cross on my father’s hospital gown, even the critical care nurses and doctors who bore witness to emotional leavenings on a daily basis, were misty-eyed. To the sound of their applause, my father also officially became an officer, promoted from Corporal to Second Lieutenant. The uniformed general gave him a hearty salute. I was so thankful my dad was alive to see those great honors.

The road to my father’s past and back was an emotional journey for both my father and me after years of painful separation, but I was grateful that we shared the beautiful ending of his remarkable life. As one friend told me, “You made his last years, his best.” I think given what my father endured as a teenager thrust into WWII, the least I could do as a daughter was to make sure he was appreciated for his tremendous record of service and ultimately honored. I believe it is the least we can do for all of our veterans and their selfless contributions,

As my father took his last breaths, I promised him I would always remind people of the extraordinary sacrifice of his fearless young Polish comrades and the brave U.S. troops who saved him and — I believe — saved the world in WWII, and continue to do that time and time again. I also told him how much I loved him and would miss him.

As my father quietly slipped away, he was not only surrounded by accolades from America and his homeland, but by those who loved him dearly, holding his hand as the heroic Lieutenant Kossobudzki completed his last mission.

(New York, NY – October 27, 2016) Themed “Brightening Our Future Together,” the New York Asian Women’s Center (NYAWC) Phoenix Awards will honor author Sheryl WuDunn, the first Asian American reporter to win a Pulitzer Prize, at its benefit gala in Manhattan next week.
NYAWC is the largest Asian American domestic violence organization in the country; a premier human trafficking serving organization; and, a national demonstration project that provides model services to sexual assault survivors. For 34+ years, NYAWC has helped women and their children overcome domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual violence and other forms of abuse by empowering them to govern their own lives.

“Over the last year and a half, we have witnessed 50% growth, both in the size of our staff and budget,” said Board Chair Karen Elizaga. “Over the next year, as we approach 35, we envision even more growth. We have the courage to think bigger and to believe that not only can we serve our clients directly to support the now 1,400 women and children who come through our doors, but that we can do work to affect systemic change.”

The masters of ceremonies will be Nina Pineda of WABC-TV and Ernabel Demillo of CUNY-TV/Asian American Life. Speakers include gala co-chair Yogesh Bahl and executive director Larry Lee. Special guests and performers are auctioneer Charles Antin, comedian Aparna Nancherla and indie rock artist Queen V.

Sheryl WuDunn, the first Asian American reporter to win a Pulitzer Prize, is currently a co-founder of FullSky Capital, where she advises socially driven for-profit ventures, along with ventures in education, healthcare, new media technology, among other fields. She also is a senior managing director at Mid-Market Securities, a small banking boutique helping growth companies.
Sheryl also helped develop a multi-platform digital project for Half the Sky and helped raise $8 million for the multi-platform endeavor, which included a PBS Documentary (Fall 2012) that reached millions of viewers, a Facebook game (Spring 2013) that reached #9 in its first two weeks, mobile games and educational videos.
In 2012, Sheryl was selected as one of 60 notable members of the League of Extraordinary Women by Fast Company magazine. In 2013, she was included as one of the “leading women who make America” in the PBS documentary, “The Makers.” She was also featured in a 2013 Harvard Business School film about prominent women who graduated from HBS.
She was a foreign correspondent based in China for The Times and is co-author with her husband, Nicholas D. Kristof, of A Path Appears: Transforming Lives, Creating Opportunity (Knopf, September 2014), Half the Sky, China Wakes and Thunder from the East.

Broken Wings (Mr. Mister song)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

“Broken Wings” is a song recorded by American pop rock band Mr. Mister. It was released in September 1985 as the lead single from their second album Welcome to the Real World. The song peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1985, where it remained for two weeks. It was released as the band was just about to embark on a US tour opening for Tina Turner. The song peaked at number four in the United Kingdom, the highest chart position the group ever achieved in Britain. Broken Wings became the first of two consecutive number ones of the band on the American charts, the other top single was “Kyrie”.
