As leaders gather in Belém, at the edge of the Amazon, We Don’t Have Time will be there in full force to make sure science, nature, and people take the center of the conversation.

To do so, we’re sending one of the largest media delegations at COP30: 15 people on the ground in Belém, with more supporting from our studios in Stockholm, Washington DC and Nairobi. Together, we’ll produce more than 100 hours of live broadcasts, giving scientists, innovators, and changemakers a global platform to speak directly to the world.

Last year, our COP coverage reached 23 million viewers. This year, we’re aiming even higher. Because when the science is this clear, silence isn’t an option.

JASA is one of the largest, most trusted agencies serving older adults and they created this hub of events, which are virtual and free to the public throughout the United States, to ensure that older adults are still able to access vibrant cultural programming while continuing to shelter in place and avoid the heat.

JASA’s programs for older adults are considered by many to be the gold standard in the space, and their virtual senior center programming is really the most unique of its kind, offering a variety of culturally diverse workshops:
· Senior Center Virtual Events hub – providing opportunities for folks to connect, exercise and learn through:
o Fitness: Chair Yoga, Thai Chi & Thai Chi for Arthritis, Salsa Dance, Zumba, Dance Therapy, Ritmo Latino Dance, Meditation, Belly Dancing and more
o Music and Arts: Poetry, Creative Arts, Concerts in Motion (including a focus on Russian music), Brain Candy Trivia, Creative Writing and more
o Lectures and Support Groups: Current Events meetings, Health and Wellness support groups, Bereavement groups, ESL/citizenship class, “What’s on your mind” discussions, Technology Support class and more
o Health: Nutrition Empowerment Workshop, Diabetes Workshop, Sharpen your Mind workshop and more
o Any interested seniors can sign up for these programs by emailing: seniorcenters@jasa.org
In addition to their virtual senior center programs, JASA also offers a continuing education program for adults 50+:
· Sundays at JASA – Virtual, continuing education initiative for adults 50+, offering a wide range of courses and lectures from luminaries in the arts, politics, media and more.
o To participate in Sundays at JASA, folks can contact Sundays@jasa.org or call (212) 273 -5304
For folks looking to volunteer in support of seniors at this time, JASA is also offering JASAChat – a volunteer program where folks can be connected with a senior for a phone or video conversation once or twice a week.

JASA will also be hosting a Virtual Crossword Puzzle Event with The New York Times’ Will Shortz this Wednesday, July 29th! This “Get a Clue: Crossword Construction” class has actually been a main staple of Sundays and JASA (mentioned above), and now, acting as a virtual, public event, funds from the evening will go directly to supporting JASA’s services.

Collaborating with leaders like Georgetown’s Global Social Enterprise Initiative, (http://socialenterprise.georgetown.edu/ ) MIT AgeLab & MedStar Health, new initiative to explore technology, services & solutions for successfully aging well

July 13, 2015 07:30 AM Eastern Daylight Time
WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today during the White House Conference on Aging, Philips announced the creation of the AgingWell Hub (AWH), a unique new research center for open innovation that will examine and share solutions for aging well. The initiative will identify new technologies, products and services, as well as provide thought leadership in collaboration with older adults, caregivers, healthcare systems, payers, policy makers, corporate innovators, entrepreneurs and academia. The AWH will also seek solutions to improve technology adoption among older adults and make aging well a reality for more people, by enabling them to better connect with their communities and healthcare providers.

“This rapidly growing segment of the population has critical needs that are not being met”
Tweet this
As part of the first phase of this initiative, Philips will collaborate with industry and issue experts, including leaders with a common interest in aging well such as American Architectural Foundation (AAF), eHealth Initiative, the Global Social Enterprise Initiative (GSEI) at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University Urban and Regional Planning Program, Humana, MedStar Health, Merck, Respect a Caregiver’s Time (ReAct), Smart Living 360, StreetScape USA, Westchester County’s Department of Senior Programs and Services (New York) and The Gary and Mary West Health Institute. AWH thought leaders and experts will create a blueprint for a research hub, expected to be based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In addition, Philips is in discussion with the MIT AgeLab to advise on the lab design and research program.

“This rapidly growing segment of the population has critical needs that are not being met,” said Kimberly O’Loughlin, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Philips Home Monitoring. “By bringing awareness, collaborating with industry leaders and innovators, and creating an ongoing dialogue, we can help drive solutions that allow older adults to remain independent, healthy and socially engaged. Transforming the experience, improving outcomes and lowering costs requires that we work together to drive simplicity and interoperability. The AWH gives us a platform to test and learn and innovate together.”

The Philips AgingWell Hub will have three key areas of focus:

1.

Drive Open Innovation by creating learning labs to accelerate transformation and improvements in the aging journey. This would allow for open co-creation by engaging older adults, caregivers, healthcare systems, payers, policy makers, corporate innovators, entrepreneurs and academia. The goal is to understand the true cost and performance of care and how it can be improved with innovation and collaboration.

2.
Share Thought Leadership by leveraging data, analytics and dialog to create and share insights that foster transformation. These insights will allow healthcare systems to be more proactive and preventative, enabling aging adults to live at home for as long as possible. As part of this commitment, AWH will share insights, as well as collaborate with other industry leaders on how to improve the efficacy of care delivery, solutions and services for living well.

3.
Promote Positive Image of Aging by working with others to promote a positive image of senior care, helping to tackle the “stigma” that can limit caregiving support and seniors’ access to it. AWH would develop communications materials and drive a positive and enabling image of aging and older adults.

The AWH expands on the Philips Center for Health and Well-being Aging Well Think Tank, as well as its work and researchwith GSEI, which has examined the attitudes and behaviors among the aging population and their caregivers regarding the adoption of technology. Through this work, Philips and its collaborators have found that a new approach is needed – a consumer-centric approach that involves government, industry, healthcare systems, academic institutions and nonprofit organizations as partners in the design of new programs and smart technologies that will empower older adults to thrive.

Singapore officially the Republic of Singapore, is a sovereign city-state and island country in Southeast Asia. It lies off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula and is 137 kilometers (85 mi) north of the equator. The country’s territory consists of the lozenge-shaped main island, commonly referred to as Singapore Island in English and Pulau Ujong in Malay, and more than 60 significantly smaller islets. Singapore is separated from Peninsular Malaysia by the Straits of Johor to the north, and from Indonesia’s Riau Islands by the Singapore Strait to the south. The country is highly urbanized, and little of the original vegetation remains. The country’s territory has consistently expanded through land reclamation.
The islands were settled in the second century AD and subsequently belonged to a series of local empires .Modern Singapore was founded in 1819 by Sir Stamford Raffles as a trading post of the East India Company with permission from the Johor Sultanate. The British obtained sovereignty over the island in 1824, and Singapore became one of the British Straits Settlements in 1826. Occupied by the Japanese during World War II, Singapore declared independence from the United Kingdom in 1963 and united with other former British territories to form Malaysia, from which it was expelled two years later through a unanimous act of parliament. Since then, Singapore has developed rapidly, earning recognition as one of the Four Asian Tigers.
Singapore is one of the world’s major commercial hubs, with the fourth-biggest financial center and one of the five busiest ports. Its globalized and diversified economy depends heavily on trade, especially manufacturing, which represented 26 percent of Singapore’s GDP in 2005. In terms of purchasing power parity, Singapore has the third-highest per capita income in the world but one of the world’s highest income inequalities. It places highly in international rankings with regard to education, healthcare, and economic competitiveness. Approximately 5.4 million people live in Singapore (June 2013), of which approximately two million are foreign-born. While Singapore is diverse, ethnic Asians predominate: 75 percent of the population is Chinese, with significant minorities of Malays, Indians, and Eurasians. There are four official languages, English, Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil, and the country promotes multiculturalism through a range of official policies.
Singapore is a unitary multiparty parliamentary republic, with a Westminster system of unicameral parliamentary government. The People’s Action Party has won every election since self-government began in 1959. The dominance of the PAP, coupled with a low level of press freedom and suppressed civil liberties and political rights, has led to Singapore being classified as a semi-authoritarian regime. One of the five founding members of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), Singapore is also the host of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Secretariat, and a member of the East Asia Summit, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Commonwealth. Singapore’s rapid development has given it significant influence in global affairs, leading some analysts to identify it as a middle power.

I am passionate about living a green healthier life. Green For A Reason was created as a hub for green building professionals and products, so that everyone could have easier access to those who are helping us live in a healthier environment as well as having less of an impact on our planet.

I thought I was living a healthy life but as I started my research on the materials currently being used to build our homes, I began to realize that there were many toxins in our everyday life and environment that I knew nothing about. In my struggle and search for a healthier home I decided to compile my knowledge and findings and open this website to people all over the world, so they too could find healthier, greener products and professionals who are passionate about green.

My goal for this site is to contain green professionals, building materials, flooring, windows, doors, fixtures, paint, stains, furniture and fabrics, just to name a few.

Thank you.
