THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCES, NEW YORK CHAPTER HONORS NOTABLE CAREERS IN NEW YORK TELEVISION

Eleven to be Inducted into New York Chapter’s Gold & Silver Circle

New York, NY, November 12, 2019 – The Board of Governors of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, New York Chapter is pleased to announce the induction of eleven talented individuals into the prestigious Gold & Silver Circles. The Gold & Silver Circles are comprised of an elite group of professionals who have made significant contributions to New York television. The Silver Circle recognizes individuals who have devoted a quarter of a century or more to the television industry. The Gold Circle honors those legends whose contributions span fifty years or more.

The Gold & Silver Circles are societies of honor. Their members represent the passion, creativity and dedication that are the hallmarks of excellence in this industry. We congratulate them on their successes, and for the lasting mark they have made on the broadcasting community. The honorees represent those media professionals working in either a performing, creative, technical, administrative, or journalistic role within the industry, including executive, writing, or production. 2019 marks our fourth Gold Circle event. Previous Gold Circle inductees include Maury Povich, Diane Sawyer, Marvin Scott and Chuck Scarborough.

Since 1992, the New York Chapter has honored distinguished television broadcasters with Silver Circle induction, including Walter Cronkite, Jerry Orbach, Rafael Pineda, Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis, John Roland, Jackie Robinson, Sue Simmons and Susan Lucci. This year, The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, New York Chapter will induct the following accomplished professionals:

Gold Circle Inductees:
Joan Ganz Cooney (Sesame Workshop), Steven Jacobowitz (WABC-TV)

Silver Circle Inductees:
Robert de Poto (MSG Networks), Joel Goldberg (WCBS-TV/CBS Television Stations), Laura Hand (WSTM-TV, retired), Susan Haskins-Doloff (Theater Talk), Rich Newberg (WIVB-TV, retired), Carol Silva (News12 Networks), Roma Torre (NY1), David Ushery (WNBC-TV), Rolman Vergara (Univision 41)

“The Gold & Silver Circles are among the most rarified honors in American media, and these talented men and women have made lasting contributions to the television industry,” said N.J. Burkett, President of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, New York Chapter. “They will join an elite group of broadcasting leaders whose achievements have set a standard for excellence to which we all aspire.”

The ceremony will be held in New York City at The Friars Club, 57 West 55th Street on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 11am.
