During this holiday season, Paws of War is on a mission to deliver gratitude, joy, and much-needed supplies to U.S. military dog handlers and their K-9 partners overseas

NESCONSET, N.Y. – (December 2, 2025) – The holiday season is a special time of the year when people give to others to show their gratitude and appreciation for all that they do year-round. Now, people have a unique and critical opportunity to give back to dog handlers in the U.S. military who are stationed overseas. Paws of War is on a holiday mission to send special care packages to U.S. K-9 teams overseas and is seeking community members to help ensure its success.

“We are all so honored to help support them in doing what they do for our country,” said Derek Cartwright, U.S. Army veteran and international logistics coordinator for Paws of War. “We know people are looking for ways to support military members, and we would love for them to join us with this mission.”

Not only is it the season of giving, but Giving Tuesday is also upon us, reminding us to give now and beyond. Paws of War is seeking monetary donations of all sizes to help fill the care packages being sent to military bases overseas. The care packages will include sun goggles, socks for handlers, Kong toys for the K-9s, hydrating drinks, cooling fans, booties for the dogs, and more.

Individually, it would be difficult for people to make much of a difference in getting a care package to military members stationed overseas. By coming together to help Paws of War with their care package mission, we can make a significant impact that will be appreciated by all those who receive the items. By teaming up with Paws of War to provide the care packages, people will show their appreciation and support, help them feel more connected to home during the holidays, boost their morale, and provide them with practical supplies. It also helps to create a sense of community between military members and civilians.

New PSA celebrates the hopeful side of what is possible when people are nourished, encouraging audiences to join the movement to end hunger

New York, NY (June 15, 2023) – Feeding America® and the Ad Council, in partnership with fluent360, today launched a new fully-integrated PSA campaign designed to inspire conversation about and drive passion for the issue of ending hunger in the United States. “The Full Effect” highlights the impact of food on people’s lives and was developed to show when people are fed, futures are nourished, and individuals go from living, to truly thriving. Through short vignettes, the PSA shows the everyday joy of a child receiving a science fair award, and thriving as a working mom, to the bigger life achievements celebrating a graduation with family.

According to recent data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), nearly 34 million people lived in food insecure households in 2021. In that same period, more than 9 million children lived in a food insecure household. While the rates of food insecurity declined in 2021, including among Black and Latino individuals, there remains a wide racial disparity in its impact – Black individuals were almost three times more likely, while Latino individuals were 2.5 times more likely, to face hunger than their white counterparts.

To address this critical issue, the Ad Council and Feeding America partnered with fluent360 on this effort to raise awareness and inspire people to take action in the nation-wide movement to end hunger. Directed by Dan Addelson, the new PSA highlights the impact of food on people’s lives and how a meal goes beyond solely nourishing our bodies. The PSA asks the public to join the movement to end hunger at FeedingAmerica.org/ActNow by donating, volunteering, or advocating.

Developed by fluent360, a multicultural agency with deep expertise across African American, US Hispanic, Asian American, and LGBTQ+ audiences, the new campaign platform and strategy is designed to reach a total market audience and was driven by insights from Black and Latino audiences. The fully integrated national campaign includes broadcast, online video, radio, print, digital banners, and out-of-home (OOH) assets, all in English and Spanish. The campaign was tested through qualitative and quantitative research among individuals from various backgrounds and communities, including people who have lived experiences with food insecurity. All PSA materials drive audiences to FeedingAmerica.org/ActNow in English and FeedingAmerica.org/HazTuParte in Spanish where they can learn more about the issue and find ways to support neighbors facing hunger in their communities.

The campaign will also feature co-created custom content produced by NBCUniversal. The PSAs will benefit from generous guaranteed donated media support across NBCUniversal properties.

Feeding America’s work has made a significant impact in the fight against hunger in America. In 2021 alone, more than 53 million people relied on the charitable food system for assistance and the Feeding America network of food banks distributed over 5.5 billion meals to people in need. According to tracking research provided by The Harris Poll, the partnership between the Ad Council and Feeding America, which began in 2008 to raise awareness of the issue, has yielded significant results. The organizations have driven a 33% increase in the percentage of individuals who intend to act with Feeding America to help people experiencing food insecurity. The organizations have also seen a dramatic increase in the proportion of individuals who say they took action in the past year to help people facing hunger, from 3% in 2008 to 29% in 2022.

Sierra Nevada makes a difference fighting the food insecurity crisis during the holiday season

Food insecurity is rapidly sweeping across our great nation, and those of us who can stand up and fight will undoubtedly want to stand with companies such as Sierra Nevada Brewing Company who have donated $1 Million to Community Nonprofits during this pandemic, and they’re just getting started! The holiday season is a time of giving unprecedented by any other event during a year. This is especially important to remember during this year when the COVID19 Pandemic has quelled our celebrations and impacted roughly 20% of U.S. households. It has hampered abilities to pay bills even as important as mortgage and rent and is leaving a record number of Americans facing unemployment, decreased wages, increased expenses for essential items as they become demanded commodities, healthcare, and childcare. Some have even been left without a home for the holidays. Efforts across the nation that Sierra Nevada has partnered with include Rethink (New York), Community Servings (Boston), Common Pantry(Chicago), Sol Collective (Sacramento), #HashtagLunchbag (Los Angeles), Second Harvest (San Jose), Del Mar Village Association (San Diego), SF New Deal (San Francisco), Carolina Farm Trust (Charlotte), and Second Helpings (Atlanta). 

In August, Sierra Nevada unveiled its new program centered around the release of Dankful IPA, a generously hoppy beer launched to help the brewery raise awareness for a variety of nonprofits working to support local communities. A hoppy West Coast-style IPA, Dankful is now available at retail stores across the country. The beer is 7.4% ABV with 55 IBU’s and resinous flavor notes of pine and tropical fruit.
