UJA-Federation of New York Hosts 20th Annual Summerfest Concert Featuring

Daryl Hall & John Oates

The Nancy Atlas Project Also Performs at Benefit Reception

Reporting by Leah

The legendary Daryl Hall & John Oates headlined the UJA-Federation of New York’s New Leadership Campaign’s 20th Annual Summerfest Concert on July 27, 2010, to a sold out crowd of 1,200 people.

The event was held at the Theatre at Westbury in Westbury, New York, and proceeds from this event, the raffle and auction benefitted UJA-Federation of New York’s annual campaign. Hall & Oates rocked.

The 20th Annual Summerfest Concert had a record-breaking attendance and money raised. This invite-only evening began with a pre-concert reception and performance by Long Island’s Nancy Atlas Project followed by a presentation of the Robert S. Boas Award to Jeffrey Gould for his commitment to philanthropic and humanitarian causes. A post concert dessert reception and concert performance by the Nancy Atlas Project followed the rockin’ Hall & Oates concert.

Hall & Oates had the crowd standing on its feet and dancing to its beat. Hall & Oates opened the concert with one of their most popular songs “Maneater” and performed many of their popular hit songs such as “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do),” “Out of Touch,” “Say It Isn’t So,” and “Rich Girl” and ended the concert with its hugely successful and favorite “Private Eyes.”Hall & Oates delighted the crowd with two encores. Hall & Oates noted they played this venue before with the Bee Gees.

Daryl Hall and John Oates have been named the Recording Industry Association of America’s number-one selling duo since 1987. They have influenced some of today’s most popular artists, and their impact can be heard in many musical genres. From the mid-1970’s to the mid-1980’s, the duo would score six No. 1 singles, including “Rich Girl,” “Kiss on My List,” “Private Eyes,” I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do),””Maneater,” and “Out of Touch” from their six consecutive multiplatinum albums. The era would also produce an additionalfive Top 10 singles, “Sara Smile,” “One on One,” “You Make My Dreams,” “Say It Isn’t So,” and “Method of Modern Love.”

More recently, the duo was honored with the ICON Award during BMI’s 56th Annual Pop Awards in 2008. Approaching their 40th year as a band, the accolades, awards, and accomplishments keep coming for the best-selling pop-rock duo in history, with no end in sight, as the two continue to add to their historic legacy.
