The Festival wants to highlight three major issues this year as we come roaring back for the Year of the Tiger!
1. Our participation in the reopening our economy, as we are planning for a full scale festival.
2. Promotion of Covid vaccination/booster, Post Covid mental/ physical wellness.
3. Bringing attention to the Prevention of Asian hate crimes.

July 25th, 2022- NY, NY – In Celebration of the “Year of the TIGER,” the Board of Directors of the 30th Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York (HKDBF-NY) announce that this Free Multicultural Festival and Sporting Event will be held Saturday, July 30 & Sunday, July 31st, 2022.

HKDBF NY 2022 features events for the entire family, the Opening Ceremony takes place at noon on Saturday with the traditional Dragon Dance and Team Parade. Racing both days from 9am-5pm. Some of the attractions taking place during the festival include several special races. Including the Hong Kong SAR 25th Anniversary Challenge, the Sponsors Challenge, a Media Invitational and the Seniors Invitational. This year’s Corporate Invitational looks to be a good one, with a number of Corporate Teams joining us to race for their companies. The US Dragon Boat Open Championship Race is on Sunday. There are also special Educational and Health Care Invitationals and the always exciting and rewarding Charity race, featuring funds raised by the participating teams to be donated to the charities designated by the winning teams. Over the years the Charity Race has contributed in excess of $300,000 to various NYC charities.

The program on the Main Stage showcases the best Regional multicultural artists and traditional music/dance from across the globe. We are thrilled to have NY based young rapper Cameron Sean joining us both days to perform his very relevant rap, “Stop the Hate!” The ever popular Shaolin Martial Artists return for performances on both days. We have several other very Special Musical Guests this year, the amazing violinist Daisy Jopling, the Gigs & The Professor Orchestra, Musical Performance by Terry King’s Drifters featuring Charlie Thomas Jr and Benidito King of the world renowned Drifters. The two sons of the Drifters Charlie Thomas and Ben E. King, who’s hits were Stand By Me and Spanish Harlem. The Chinese Theatre Works Co. performs both days with 2 different shows and Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk returns spinning “Dragon Tales.” In addition, we have demonstrations of traditional Asian folk arts and crafts, booths staffed by sponsors and many community-based organizations.

HKDBF-NY, an international, multi-cultural celebration and sporting event, the largest multicultural Festival in New York and the largest festival of its kind in the U.S. HKDBF-NY keeps up the age old tradition of Dragon Boat Racing in colorful, custom made teak boats, which are virtual works of art gliding on water. Custom made by a small coterie of craftsmen in Hong Kong, weighing one ton each, colorfully painted with a Dragon head at the front and Dragon tail at the rear, the boats are piloted by up to 20 crewmen, including 18 paddlers, a drummer and steers person.

For twenty-nine successful years HKDBF-NY has attracted a diverse, multi-cultural audience of more than 20,000 attendees throughout North America. This year with 100+ teams participating involving more than 1,000 competitors from across the U.S. and Canada, this year’s festival is expected to be notable for it’s 2 day return, scale and fierce competition.

The tradition of Dragon Boat Racing is an annual Chinese rite commemorating the idealistic poet and performer Qu Yuan who drowned himself in the third century B.C. to protest against his emperor’s policies. The locals raced in their boats in an attempt to rescue the poet. To prevent fish and water dragons from eating his body, the locals beat their drums and splashed their paddles. This was the beginning of Dragon Boat Racing.

Admission to the HKDBF-NY is Free, Events take place Rain or Shine – Festival attendees Please take the MTA or shuttle bus with your MetroCard or use correct change. Again this year we’ve worked with the MTA to insure easy and safe transportation to the Festival site. Once the famous sufi saint Shamas Tabrezi was traveling with a few of his followers.
While they were passing a lake, Tabrezi told one of his disciples, “I am thirsty”
Do get me some water from the lake.”
The disciple walked up to the lake.
At that moment,
a bullock cart started crossing through the lake.
As a result,
The water became very muddy and turbid.
The disciple thought,
“How can I give this muddy water to Tabrezi to drink?”
So he came back and told Tabrezi, “The water in there is very muddy”,
I don’t think it is fit to drink.”
After about half an hour, again Tabrezi asked the same disciple to go back
to the lake.
The disciple went back,
and found that the water was still muddy.
He returned and informed Tabrezi about the same.
After sometime,
again Tabrezi asked the same disciple to go back.
This time, the disciple found the mud had settled down, and the water was clean and clear.
So he collected some water in a pot and brought it to Tabrezi
Tabrezi looked at the water, and then he looked up at the disciple and said,
“See what you did to make the water clean.
You let it be,
and the mud settled down on its own, and you have clear water.”
Your mind is like that too ! When it is disturbed,
just let it be.
Give it a little time.
It will settle down on its own.
You don’t have to put in any effort to calm it down.
It will happen.
It is effortless.”
Having ‘Peace of Mind’ is not a strenuous job,
it is an effortless process?so keep ur mind cool and have a great life ahead…
Never leave Your close ones. If you find few faults in them just close Your eyes and Remember the best time You spent together…
Because
Affection is More Important than Perfection..!
Neither you can hug yourself….nor you can cry on your own shoulder…
Life is all about living for one another, so live with those who love you the most…
Relations cannot be Understood by the Language of Money…
Bcoz,
Some Investments Never Give Profit
But They Make us rich…!
“Family n Friends are such investments, priceless, treasure them and keep them close to you”

AUG 5, 2021- NY, NY – In Celebration of the “Year of the Ox” the Board of Directors of the 2021 Annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York (HKDBF-NY) a Free Multicultural Festival and Sporting Event, announce that they will be holding a scaled down, one day event Saturday, August 7th, 2021.

Henry Wan Chairman of the board states “We feel it is very important for HKDBFNY to have an event this year focusing on 3 major issues; vaccination/public health safety; HKDBFNY’s contribution to the reopening of the NYC economy; and bringing a focus to the anti-Asian + other hate crime issue. We look forward to hosting a fully vaccinated audience this year.”

All current Covid protocols will be followed. Only fully vaccinated attendees/racers or those with proof of negative covid test within 72 hours of the event will be admitted. A Vaccine Team from new york state of health will be on hand providing covid shots to those who wish them. Northwell Health will also be in attendance with health information related to covid recovery +.

Festival events will consist of several Special/Invitational races. A Special Match Race between the Mayor’s Office “City Hall Dragons” and a Team from the Queen’s Borough President’s Office is now scheduled for 11:30. The land side activities for the one day Festival will be held in the enclosed Model Airplane Field and racing as usual will be on Meadow Lake, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, New York rain or shine. Admission is free.

Due to covid HKDBF-NY, the international, multi-cultural celebration and sporting event, the largest multicultural Festival in New York and the largest festival of its kind in the U.S was not held in 2020. HKDBF-NY plans to keep up the age old tradition of Dragon Boat Racing this year and looks forward to a large 30th Anniversary Festival in 2022. Each, colorfully painted boat with Dragon head at the front and Dragon tail at the rear are piloted by up to 20 crewmen, including 18 paddlers, a drummer and steers person. This year we will be observing all covid protocols so racing teams size will be reduced.

For twenty-nine successful years HKDBF-NY has attracted a diverse, multi-cultural audience of more than 40,000 attendees throughout North America. The festival will takes place just one day this year on the site of the 1964 World’s Fair, featuring events for the entire family. The opening ceremony will take place at noon on Saturday, Aug.7th. Racing starts at 9:00 a.m. and events last throughout the day until approximately 4:00 p.m. rain or shine.

This year we will have presentations on the Main Stage of traditional Chinese arts, from the Chinese Music Ensemble of New York, Dance China NY from the New York Chinese Cultural Center, martial arts demonstrations by the ever popular Shaolin Monks and a steel drum performance from the CASYM Steel Orchestra. Master storyteller Jonathan Kruk also joins us again. This year in lieu of our traditional International food court we have invited several food trucks. Booths staffed by sponsors of the event, and a number of community-based organizations will participate to help make for a unique, action packed, multi-cultural, New York event.

Admission to the HKDBF-NY is Free, Events take place Rain or Shine – Festival attendees

Please take the MTA or shuttle bus with your MetroCard or use correct change. Again this year we’ve worked with the MTA to insure easy and safe transportation to the Festival site. Festival attendees take the #7 Train to the CitiField stop and transfer from there to special MTA shuttle buses that will take them directly to the Festival site.

Each year on July 27th, the U.S. Army celebrates the Army Medicine Anniversary. The Army Reserve is a unique and significant contributor to the Army’s overall medical system. The Army Reserve began as a small corps of medical professionals in 1908 and has evolved into what is now the best trained, best equipped, and most ready Army Reserve in our Nation’s history. Most notably, 55% of all Army operational medical forces reside in the Army Reserve, including two deployable medical commands, the 807th Medical Command (Deployment Support), Salt Lake City, Utah and the 3rd Medical Command (Deployment Support), Atlanta, Georgia.

Today, the U.S. Army Reserve is home to over 60 percent of the total force’s critical care nurses, orthopedic surgeons, emergency physicians and obstetricians. The Army Reserve provides the active Army with 306 medical units.

Many Army Reserve medical Soldiers have skill sets that are honed by their respective civilian jobs, from specialized physicians to surgeons, offering every capability needed in order to deploy and complete medical missions. The Army Reserve also works with top medical facilities in the country to remain on the cutting edge of research and education and provide unmatched capabilities and responsiveness.

The Army Reserve assists the active Army and the community in times of need. Army Reserve medical units support stateside missions, which provide real world opportunities for Soldiers to administer medical, dental and optometry care in underserved American communities.

Maj. Gen. Joe D. Robinson, Commanding General, 3rd Medical Command (Deployment Support), discusses the role of the Army Reserve medical capabilities in recent history at home and outside of the Continental United States.

The Walt Disney World Resort, also called Walt Disney World and Disney World, is an entertainment complex in Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista, Florida, in the United States, near the cities of Orlando and Kissimmee. Opened on October 1, 1971, the resort is owned and operated by Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, a division of The Walt Disney Company. It was first operated by Walt Disney World Company. The property covers nearly 25,000 acres (39 sq mi; 101 km2), of which only half has been used.[3] The resort comprises four theme parks (consisting of Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom), two water parks, 27 themed resort hotels, nine non-Disney hotels, several golf courses, a camping resort, and other entertainment venues, including the outdoor shopping center Disney Springs.

Designed to supplement Disneyland in Anaheim, California, which had opened in 1955, the complex was developed by Walt Disney in the 1960s. “The Florida Project”, as it was known, was intended to present a distinct vision with its own diverse set of attractions. Walt Disney’s original plans also called for the inclusion of an “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow” (EPCOT), a planned community intended to serve as a test bed for new city-living innovations. Walt Disney died on December 15, 1966, during the initial planning of the complex. After his death, the company wrestled with the idea of whether to bring the Disneyworld project to fruition. However, Walt’s older brother, Roy, came out of retirement to make sure Walt’s biggest dream was realized. Construction started in 1967, with the company instead building a resort similar to Disneyland, abandoning the experimental concepts for a planned community. Magic Kingdom was the first theme park to open in the complex, in 1971, followed by Epcot (1982), Disney’s Hollywood Studios (1989), and Disney’s Animal Kingdom (1998). It was Roy who insisted the name of the entire complex be changed from Disneyworld to Walt Disney World, ensuring that people would remember that the project was Walt’s dream.

In 2018, Walt Disney World was the most visited vacation resort in the world, with an average annual attendance of more than 58 million.[4] The resort is the flagship destination of Disney’s worldwide corporate enterprise and has become a popular staple in American culture. In 2020, Walt Disney World was chosen to host the NBA Bubble for play of the 2019–20 season of the NBA to resume at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
