Legendary Rock Musician John Oates Joins Forces With Brass-Playing Sensation Saxsquatch to Reimagine the 1982 Classic Hit “Maneater” on Monstercat.

In an unlikely fusion of two musical greats, the iconic John Oates of Daryl Hall & John Oates has teamed up with the viral sax-playing star Saxsquatch, to transform the original chart-topping hit “Maneater” into an electro-spun classic. Injected with club-inspired grooves and dance-floor worthy basslines, the duo put a modern spin on the Daryl Hall & John Oates #1 record, fit for new audiences across eras and genres.

Out on Monstercat today, the remake comes with a visual journey into each artist’s stomping grounds, from Addiction Sound Studios in Nashville, to the depths of the bountiful forest. Grooving their way through the psychedelic animations in the video, John and Saxsquatch are the pair you didn’t know you needed.

John Oates shares, “I’ve had a lot of otherworldly experiences in my career but none as mystical and magical as this collab with the amazing, soulful Saxsquatch. He brings the funk out of the forest and puts a smile on the face of the world. Meeting him in the woods to shoot the video was a life changing moment. As soon as we began recording, I knew we had something special. The mark of a good song is that it can be reimagined in lots of ways and this is without a doubt the coolest version I’ve ever heard.”

Saxsquatch adds, “I like music that gets people’s big feet tapping along. It’s been a tough year for everyone. We could all use music and stories that help us dance and feel less alone. I know a lot about feeling alone.”

Tomorrow (March 20), John Oates will also host Oates Song Fest 7908, a charity livestream benefitting Feeding America. Alongside his co-host Saxsquatch and bandmate Daryl Hall, a slew of pop and rock icons will perform including Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Bob Weir (Grateful Dead), Sammy Hagar (Van Halen), Sara Bareilles, Gavin DeGraw, Jewel, and others. Who knew this destiny would stem from a semester studying Renaissance Art in
Florence, Italy in 2007. Michael spent the semester in Florence coming to
appreciate the art, history and culture, but most of all, the food.
Something that would set him on a path to become the entrepreneur he had
always imagined himself to be. While living in Florence, Michael, as most
others visiting and living in Florence, came to love Antico Noè, going as
far as eating there at least three times a week. Truth is, so did a lot of
visitors before him. The difference is, it stayed with Michael from the
moment he left Italy.
Also during his time in Florence, Michael would befriend his now business
partner Vinny Dautaj, who worked at a local restaurant in Florence. As fate
continued to play its hand, Vinny would go on to marry an American girl,
move to New York and reconnect with Michael. Monthly catch-ups often turned
into discussions of dreams and goals. The two of them, both itching to do
more, kept coming back to the incredible business and following of Antico
Noè and how nothing in NYC compares. The two formed a strategy for Vinny’s
next trip home to Florence where he would recite a well rehearsed pitch to
convince the owners of Antico Noè to let the duo replicate their
authenticity in the US.

After months of discussions, the two, utilizing their respective backgrounds
in corporate finance and restaurant operations, convinced the Italian owners
to expand the brand to the U.S. under their control. To ensure consistent
quality and an adherence to tradition and taste, the US-based team studied
and trained at the Florence location learning the various secret bread and
sauce recipes, as well as coming to understand the magic of the little
“sandwich shop” in order to replicate and offer an authentic panini
experience.

The event will focus on bringing films and filmmakers from across an international community whose work embodies the fundamental message of love and contribution. Screenings of films from over 12 countries and all over the United States will take place at the iconic Laemmle’s Music Hall 3 in Beverly Hills, California, July 18th to 20th. Panel discussions to with Film Industry Leaders will take place on July 21st at the Flame in Santa Monica, CA. Award night on July 22nd and private party will be held at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills, CA. Over 30 high profile celebrities have confirmed attendance to participate in the awards ceremony.

Ata Servati is a noted poet, playwright, novelist, prize-winning actor, filmmaker and activist.

He went from living in a lavish house to becoming homeless. He began to live out of his car. To someone else born to wealth and fame this drastic change of fate would have been the lowest point of their lives. To Ata it was and the beginning of the best moment in his entire life. In that moment he remembered the hopes and dreams of his childhood. It was this experience that led to him to make a choice, and commit to the spiritual path. Ata began to write again, and to focus on the spiritual forces that surround all of us. After many wasted years Ata has found his peace and true path that he was meant to live on. He has rededicated his life to bringing spirituality and healing in the world. The Lotus Light Children Charity is an expression of this love, hope and desire to help and enlighten children; by bring healing to them through art. Stars of Yiddish musical theatre who are well-liked by the local Communist government, the family plans to hide in a basement when the war arrives in their small town of Skalat on the Polish/Ukraine border. But when local bullies threaten to turn the oldest son over to the invading Nazis, he flees to the next town, followed by his sister, then by the rest of the family.

Finding themselves unable to return to their home where fighting is in full force, they begin a journey eastward all the way across Europe and Asia, just ahead of the Nazi invasion.
