FENIX360 makes its London debut with a lineup that reflects the platform’s artist-first ethos — independent, seasoned, and creatively fearless — set within one of the city’s most storied music rooms. Designed to empower artists through ownership, transparency, and community, FENIX360’s arrival in the UK signals a growing international movement that places artistry over algorithms and connection over convention.

Scant Regard features Will Crewdson who brings with him a legacy that bridges eras of British music, combining lived experience with a sharp contemporary edge. Known for his commanding presence and instinctive songwriting, his performances carry both history and immediacy — the sound of an artist who understands where music has been and where it can still go.

Mim Grey delivers songs rooted in emotional intelligence and melodic strength, shaped by years of international touring and recording. Her voice carries warmth and honesty, pairing lyrical intimacy with musical sophistication, creating performances that feel both personal and expansive.

Todd Sharpville adds a powerful blues-rock dimension to the evening, drawing from a deep well of guitar mastery and soulful expression. Renowned for his dynamic live performances, he brings grit, finesse, and authenticity, channeling classic influences through a modern, unmistakably personal style.

Rich Austin grew up by the sea in Dorset, where the landscape of the Jurassic Coast helped shape his creative spirit. Now London-based, his music blends quirky pop-rock with thoughtful storytelling, shaped by global touring, film soundtrack work for ITV, and national recognition for his NHS tribute National Heroes Shine. With three albums behind him and a fourth on the way, his work balances unpredictability, wit, and social reflection — always evolving, always human.

The night unfolds at The Pheasantry, an iconic Chelsea venue with a rich musical heritage that has hosted generations of artists within its intimate, candle-lit setting. Steeped in history yet alive with creative energy, The Pheasantry provides the perfect backdrop for FENIX360’s London debut — where legacy meets innovation, and artists take center stage exactly as they were meant to.

Reinforcing the festival’s underlying theme of distinctive collaborations (with pairings such as Bobby McFerrin & Questlove, André Previn & Christian McBride, and Ramsey Lewis with Philip Bailey, among others), Blue Note Jazz Festival will present “Celebrate Ornette: The Music of Ornette Coleman Featuring Denardo Coleman Vibe” in partnership with Celebrate Brooklyn! on June 12 – a free outdoor concert at the Prospect Park Bandshell. Ornette Coleman’s son Denardo Coleman, an outstanding drummer who debuted on record with his father at the age of 10, convenes a deep and surprising lineup of special guests for a long-overdue exploration and celebration of Ornette’s music and spirit, with his own band (Al Macdowell, bass; Tony Falanga, bass; Charles Ellerbe, guitar; Antoine Roney, sax) at the core. Special guests include Afrika Bambaataa, Bill Laswell, Bruce Hornsby, Flea, Geri Allen, Henry Threadgill, James Blood Ulmer, Joe Lovano, and Patti Smith. These free performances will spotlight four of the most exciting and progressive crossover talents on the scene today: Spanish vocalist Buika and acclaimed vocalist/violinistMarques Toliver on June 22, as well as pianist Jon Batiste and Stay Human and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble on June 29. This marks Buika’s second consecutive year headlining Blue Note Jazz Festival (following her sold out performances at The Town Hall in June 2013 and April 2014 respectively, presented by Blue Note Entertainment Group).

Several prominent festival shows have been added to various Blue Note Entertainment Group venues. Recently confirmed collaborations include: jazz icons Lou Donaldson with Dr. Lonnie Smith (Blue Note Jazz Club, June 10-11); “Sly Reimagined” – a special project with Global Noize interpreting the music of Sly & The Family Stone, featuring Jason Miles, Nona Hendryx,Maya Azucena, Falu, and Cyro Baptista (Highline Ballroom, June 8); and guitarist Fabrizio Sotti & Friends, with Tony Grey, Mino Cinelu, Algebra Blessett, M1 of Dead Prez, and Claudia Acuña, among others (Highline Ballroom, June 4). The excitement produced by this inaugural concert, the culmination of a competition Yaacov Mayman summed up as a “resounding success”, is sure to generate even more enthusiasm for next year’s event. Mayman says he “can’t wait to see next year’s video performances,” and, judging from the reception so far from thousands of jazz fans all over the world, the international jazz community feels the same way. The gala concert is sure to see the birth of more than a few global jazz stars.

The Made in New York Competition, which launched in 2013, is international online jazz competition. Contestants submitted video clips which posted to the competition website, and the winners is decided by popular vote, Committee Members as well as a panel of judges: jazz greats Lenny White, Joe Lovano, and Randy Brecker. The contest grand prize is a cash award of $3000 plus an additional 10% from entry of each participant which makes the price constantly growing, along with the opportunity to travel to New York to headline the Made in New York Jazz Competition Gala Concert.

The second and third-place prizes in 2013 were provided by KAWAI USA—the future of the piano®— the elegant KAWAI ES7 Portable Digital Piano and the powerful KAWAI MP6 Professional Stage Piano to the Competition’s second and third-place finishers.

The extremely talented Italian Anna Vitale, whose video acoustic performance of Jon Hendricks’s “Centerpiece” with Bobby McFerrin quickly went viral, garnering numerous hits and being selected as the top choice by the Made in New York jazz competition judges. Misha Brovkin describes her talent as “boundless, an amazing performance” and says that this is exactly what’s so exciting about international jazz.

Second prize went to Evgeny Lebedev’s “World Trio” from Russia who performed an original composition rather than a cover tune, while Germany’s NGA Big Band took third place for their version of Bob Brookmeyer’s “The American Express.

Reveals Dozens of New Do-It-Yourself Products
DIY Expansion Includes New Cobranded Products with Maker Media
FORT WORTH, Texas, May 16, 2013 — Just in time for Maker Faire Bay Area, RadioShack announced a major partnership expansion with Maker Media, the creators of MAKE Magazine, Makezine.com, and Maker Faire, to better serve the DIY community. Maker Media and RadioShack will be teaming up to collaborate on an expansive DIY product lineup, exclusively carried at RadioShack and Maker Shed, including kits, robotics and tools.
“DIY is part of RadioShack’s DNA,” said Dawn Callahan, vice president of merchandising, responsible for the DIY product category at RadioShack. “We’re grateful to be part of a wonderfully loyal community of makers, and we listened when they told us how we can help bring their ideas to life. We’re excited to deliver on that feedback with an expanded assortment, including cobranded products with the smart folks at Maker Media, as well as other products on makers’ wish lists.”
“Adding to the popular Make line of kits, like ‘Getting Started with Arduino’ the new cobranded product lineup from Maker Media and RadioShack combine Maker Media’s strength in cultivating and growing the maker movement with RadioShack’s strong retail footprint and DIY heritage,” said Dale Dougherty, founder and CEO of Maker Media. “Our new cobranded products are designed to give makers a path to making while they continue to develop their skills and push the limits of their creativity.”
The new cobranded product lineup will be available in-store and online exclusively at RadioShack later this year. In addition, MAKE Magazine will join the MAKE book lineup and will be available in stores this fall. RadioShack has an exciting lineup of additional DIY products that are available now, and with more to come throughout the summer and fall.
Discovering RadioShack’s DIY Resources
RadioShack regularly surveys DIY customers to refine its product offering. As a result, the company added Arduino microcontrollers as well as hundreds of new parts and tools to its stores and website in 2012. Similarly, the newly announced products deliver on things makers told the company they desired most from their neighborhood DIY resource, including RadioShack-branded:
• ColdHeat Soldering Tool, available now
• Expanded assortment of Light-Emitting Diodes (LED’s), available now
• New collection of Youth Hobby Kits focused on building your own RC and robotics, available now
• Electroluminescent (EL) Wire, Tape and Flex Strip LED’s, available in the summer
• U Mold moldable plastic, available in August in two sizes
• New line of Mini PC Microcontrollers that have video and Wi-Fi capabilities, available in the summer
In addition, RadioShack will be re-launching XMODS, which are DIY remote control car or truck kits that customers can build, tune, and race, which will be available this fall.
