Manifestation Isn’t Magic: It’s Applied Knowledge

People love to say “knowledge is power.” But that’s only half the truth.

Knowledge without action changes nothing.

As Leo Buscaglia said, “To know and not to do is not to know at all.” And nowhere is that more evident than in the conversation around manifestation.

Like many people, my first exposure to manifestation and the Law of Attraction came through The Secret. I watched the DVD countless times. I listened to the CD in my car over and over again.

And still, I was skeptical.

So instead of debating whether it worked, I decided to test it.

I started small. Finding my keys. Having someone invite me to coffee or lunch. Little experiments with no emotional attachment.

And something interesting happened.

When I applied the principles: clarity, expectation, and aligned action, things worked. Not occasionally. Consistently.

That’s when I moved on to bigger experiments.

“What Orly Wants, Orly Gets”

At the office, I started saying a phrase that became legendary, much to my team’s annoyance:

“What Orly wants, Orly gets.”

I explained the Law of Attraction to them and had them finish the sentence whenever I asked for something that felt unrealistic.

To be clear—there was zero enthusiasm. They thought I was crazy.

Then came the real test.

We were hosting a seminar for 260 people in the property management industry. The goal was simple: sell enough sponsorships and exhibitor tables to cover costs and turn a profit.

On a Tuesday afternoon, I asked where we stood.

Less than $3,000.

I told them we needed $10,000 by Friday.

The looks I got said it all. “No way.” “Impossible.” “That’s less than three days.”

My response?

“What Orly wants?”

They replied angrily, “Yeah, yeah… Orly gets.”

Manifestation Requires Action, Not Anxiety

A few days later, I asked for an update. No progress.

The secretary was out sick that day, so I asked a simple question:

“Did anyone get the mail?”

You would’ve thought I asked them to stop working altogether.

So I grabbed the keys and checked the mail myself.

Back in my office, I opened the envelopes one by one.

The third envelope contained a check.

$8,734.

From an unpaid invoice that had been overdue for six months.

I walked out and showed it to the team.

Their reaction?

“How do you do this?” “How does this always work for you?”

The answer was simple, and it had nothing to do with magic.

“The Adventure Jar: A Story of Magic for Families Living with Metastatic Breast Cancer” is intended for children ages three to eight. The book follows the story of a family affected by metastatic breast cancer as they discover that even through the challenges of their mom’s diagnosis – involving inevitable change, uncertainty and disappointment – there is magic to be found in time shared together.​

Family life can be upended when a parent has cancer, and it can be difficult for parents to bear witness to the impact it can have on young children – creating a crucial need for resources to help navigate the challenging emotions that follow.

The Adventure Jar, led by Gilead Sciences, was created in collaboration with eight diverse members of the metastatic breast cancer (MBC) community and professionals, including a psychiatrist, to help families impacted by MBC.​

Among these collaborators is Gilead Patient Ambassador Lauren Huffmaster. She was diagnosed with MBC at 37 years old and struggled with the emotional impact cancer had on her husband and three young daughters, who were two, four and six at the time. Nearly a decade since her diagnosis, MBC continues to shape the lives of her daughters, but they’ve made it a habit to redefine their circumstances.

Coca-Cola made its official TikTok debut with the launch of the #ShareTheMagic challenge, an invitation for creators to showcase their personal expressions of the brand’s new “Real Magic” platform, which reminds people that magic lives in the unexpected moments of connection when people unite over what they have in common or embrace unique perspectives.

Coca-Cola partnered with multi-platinum global superstar, Khalid, whose newly released song, “Open,” is the soundtrack to the challenge, and Atlanta-based dancer, artist, and teenage TikTok star, Jalaiah Harmon, who choreographed the official dance for the challenge. The majestic sloop Clearwater is the last tall ship on the Hudson and the only floating environmental education classroom serving towns up and down the river. We need this magnificent symbol of environmentalism so we can continue to do the important work of cleaning up the river and forward Pete Seeger’s legacy.

The organization has had a challenging year with a $850k Coast Guard mandated restoration of the sloop Clearwater. We’ve come through it and the Clearwater continues to fulfill its mission educating kids about the environment! There are still restoration costs to payback and more to make the organization go on for the next 50 years. We need to insure Clearwater will continue its work as founder Pete Seeger envisioned!

Eric Walton is an award winning magician and actor. He has lent his talents to dozens of projects in a wide range of media around the world and has garnered the accolades of the international press along the way. His one-man show Esoterica enjoyed a seven-month run at the DR2 Theatre in New York City, was a sell-out at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and has been produced at the Leicester Square Theatre in London, at the Brighton Fringe Festival in Brighton, England, at the Spiegeltent, and as a part of the River to River Festival in downtown Manhattan. Eric has been the subject of numerous feature articles in the press, including the Times of London, Zink Magazine, The New York Daily News, and The List, and made numerous appearances on television and radio. Pinetree sings, plays and tells stories both original and gathered from around the world. Performing with Pete Seeger and the Hudson River Sloop Singers steeped her in the folk tradition.
