Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus Clowns Deliver a Bit
of The Greatest Show on Earth to Newark February 27 & 28

NEWARK, NJ Circus clowns, magicians, jugglers, acrobats, face painters and balloon artists will convert The Newark Museum into a festive big top from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, February 27th & 28th.

For the seventh consecutive year, The Newark Museum and its Science Department will collaborate with Ringling Bros. And Barnum & Bailey Circus — The Greatest Show on Earth in presenting Circus Science, a weekend jammed with activities such as circus performances where families learn the theories of balance, centrifugal force, motion and gravity the physics behind the fun.

By unveiling the science behind traditional circus acts and providing hands-on opportunities to learn, said Museum Science Director Ismael Calderon, Circus Science has become one of the favorite science education weekends for all ages at the Newark Museum.

Circus Science will entertain families with Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus clown shows at 11:30, 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in The Alice Ransom Memorial Garden. The Magic & Illusions of Joe Holiday will be performed in the Billy Johnson
Auditorium at 12:30 p.m., 2:30p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Activities scheduled continuously from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. throughout the Museum include face painting and work shops teaching plate spinning, tightrope walking, magic, spin art, gymnastics and trapeze acrobatics and a special presentation on juggling techniques by The Jersey Jugglers.

Members of the science education staff will be on hand both days to introduce families to the Museums science exhibitions including Look/Touch/Learn: Nature & Art in the American Art Galleries; the acclaimed natural science exhibition Dynamic Earth: Revealing Natures Secrets in the Victoria Hall of Science; the Mini-Zoo; and Skies Alive! Bird Migration in the Garden State, the current offering in the Prudential Gallery.

Admission to Circus Science February 27th and 28th, including either the clown or show performance, is $10.00 for adults and $6.00 for seniors and children under 12. Tickets for additional performances can be purchased at $3.00 each. Members are admitted free of charge. All Museum workshops and exhibitions, including guided tours are free and open to the public. Programs and performances are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Groups of 25 or more may call 973-596-5150 for advance ticket purchase.
