Queens of the Empire: A highlight of the Annual Gala held by The New York chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women’s Network (NYCREW) was the presentation of the Empire Award to Leila Larijani(center), Senior Vice President – Wealth Management of UBS Financial Services, a sponsor of the organiztion’s annual Global Trends panel, and a member of numerous committees. This singular honor,given for outstanding dedication and service to the chapter and the industry, was founded and sponsored by NYCREW and CREW Network board member Faith Hope Consolo (right), Chairman of Douglas Elliman’s Retail Group. Ms. Consolo also created the Founders Award, a comparable honor from the Association of Real Estate Women (AREW), during her term as President. The gala was the last for NYCREW, which will merge with AREW to form CREW New York in 2015, but the newly combined organization will present both the Empire and Founders Awards next year to recognize the achievements of its members. NYCREW Gathers the CRE Clans: In its latest Industry Spotlight on the next generation of New York’s legendary real estate dynasties, the New York Chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women’s Network (NYCREW) hosted the scions of the Zucker, Goodstein and Gottesman clans at “The Women Leading New York’s Real Estate Families, Take Three,” at the 3 West Club. NYCREW and CREW National Board Member Faith Hope Consolo of Douglas Elliman’s Retail Group moderated a lively panel discussion that covered the companies’ current projects, as well as the professional and personal opportunities and challenges in leading a family business in the 21st century. NYCREW TO GIVE THE “EMPIRE” TO MVP MEMBER

The new Empire Award will be presented for outstanding contributions at members-only social event on Wednesday, August 21st

Exceptional service merits an exceptional award – and now a member who has shown outstanding dedication to the goals and ideals of the New York Chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women’s Network (NYCREW) will be recognized with the new Empire Award, to be presented for the first time on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the organization’s Strictly Social Members-Only Rooftop Event.

The event will be held at The Top of The Strand, 33 West 37th Street, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., with the award presentation a guaranteed highlight of the evening.

“NYCREW already pays tribute to specific achievements at our year-end Holiday Gala but I felt it was important to create one overarching award to recognize outstanding service, something for all of us to aspire to,” says NYCREW Board Member Faith Hope Consolo, Chairman of Douglas Elliman’s Retail Group, and the creator of the Empire Award. “I was thrilled that our board agreed. And of course, what else could we call this honor but Empire, after our beloved state?”

A committee consisting of the current NYCREW President, Past President and President-Elect will choose the recipient. Several other local chapters of CREW have created similar awards.

“Since our founding in 2001, NYCREW has seen some of the most turbulent times in commercial real estate history. Yet our leaders have shown an unflagging dedication to our goal of helping our members achieve even greater success by working together,” observes NYCREW Past President Karen Dome, a senior associate at Marcus & Millichap. “Now that we’ve become a well-established organization, the board wholeheartedly agreed with Faith that it was time to create the Empire Award.”
